Chapter 28: Chapter 28 - Desperate Plea

Jasper Thompson struggled to accept it, but the excruciating pain wracking his body was undeniable.

His car sped toward the hospital where doctors thoroughly examined him, yet found absolutely nothing wrong. Every medical indicator appeared perfectly normal.

"How... how can this be possible!" Jasper’s face turned deathly pale as pain caused cold sweat to break out across his skin.

His thoughts immediately returned to Mason Raymond.

"Drive to the Sean estate!" Jasper ordered, despite his reluctance to believe what was happening. The agony coursing through his body left no time for debate.

The car raced toward the Sean family’s grand property.

Mabel Sean sat peacefully in the garden, sipping tea and enjoying the evening breeze.

"Miss, was breaking things off with Mr. Thompson just for Mason Raymond really appropriate?" her secretary ventured cautiously.

Mabel glanced at him with a confident smile. "Why wouldn’t it be? He’s the one losing out, not me."

The secretary sighed heavily. "Even if you protect Mason Raymond, it’ll only make Mr. Thompson hate him more. You might actually bring him trouble..."

"How does one grow without facing hardship?" Mabel replied with casual assurance.

"Besides, Thompson will be back." Mabel looked toward the entrance, her voice calm and certain.

As if on cue, Jasper Thompson’s car hurriedly drove through the gates.

"See? He’s returned." Mabel’s lips curled into a satisfied smile as she set down her teacup and moved to greet her visitor.

"Mr. Thompson, what brings you back so soon?" Mabel asked pleasantly.

Clutching his chest, Jasper responded through gritted teeth, "Mabel, quickly... bring Mason Raymond to me, please..."

Mabel remained unhurried, her voice gentle yet firm. "Mr. Thompson, is it really appropriate for someone asking for help to demand the helper come to them?"

Jasper’s expression shifted as he recognized Mabel’s power play. With no alternatives, he conceded painfully, "I believe what he said now. Could you take me to see him?"

"Such an outsider’s remark," Mabel noted, showing no urgency whatsoever.

"Please hurry," Jasper pleaded, wincing. "I really can’t stand this anymore..."

Mabel only wanted to teach Jasper a lesson, not cause him genuine harm. She promptly took him to Mason’s home in Dragon Rising Community.

Upon arrival, they searched but couldn’t locate Mason anywhere.

"Where is he?" Jasper asked desperately.

Mabel shook her head. "I’m not sure. Let me call him."

She pulled out her phone and dialed Mason’s number, but received no answer.

"His phone’s turned off," Mabel reported helplessly.

Jasper’s face contorted with agony as the pain threatened to overwhelm him.

"Find him! Find him quickly!" Jasper shouted frantically.

"Yes, Mr. Thompson!" his men responded, rushing out immediately.

They combed through all of River City but discovered no trace of me.

Jasper grew increasingly desperate. "What can we do now..." he moaned through his suffering.

One of his men fumed, "Mason Raymond must have done this deliberately. What an asshole!"

Mabel shot him a scornful look. "You never believed him in the first place, yet you expect him to wait at home for you?"

"I..." The man fell silent, having no reply.

Throughout the entire night, I didn’t return home.

During those hours, Jasper Thompson passed out from pain three times, with his suffering steadily intensifying.

Early morning arrived, and I finally opened my eyes after my night of meditation.

"There’s too little qi," I frowned, disappointed.

Despite absorbing nearly all the qi in my surroundings, I still hadn’t reached the Third-Layer Qi Refining Stage.

"Future cultivation will probably become increasingly difficult," I sighed.

After quickly washing up, I headed home.

By the time I arrived, it was already 8 a.m.

I looked at the unexpected visitors in my living room with surprise. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

"Miss Sean, Mr. Thompson, what brings you here?" I asked, genuinely astonished.

Before Mabel could answer, one of Thompson’s men erupted, "Where the fuck did you go? Do you know we’ve been waiting for you all night?"

I furrowed my brows, irritation building.

"I went out on personal business," I replied coolly.

"What the fuck kind of business could you possibly have!" The man snarled through clenched teeth.

His tone further stoked my anger.

Jasper glared at me furiously. "If it weren’t for Mabel, I wouldn’t even bother with you! Come treat my illness now!"

I gave him a cold look and said, "Really? To be honest, I only call you ’Uncle Thompson’ because of Mabel. Otherwise, you’re nothing to me! Your identity and status mean absolutely nothing."

"As for treating your illness," I continued icily, "I’m tired now and have no interest in serving you. Please leave my home immediately!"
