Chapter 271: Chapter 271 - Ritual Interrupted
When the old man’s gaze fell on them, Watson and Diane’s faces instantly darkened.
The others watched them with hints of sympathy in their eyes.
"Should be these two," one elderly man stated.
"Yeah, but which one exactly?" the other old man’s brow creased slightly.
Both men studied Watson and Diane, clearly struggling to decide.
But then Diane suddenly thrust her finger toward Watson and shouted, "It’s definitely her, definitely her! This has nothing to do with me. If you want someone, take her!"
Watson’s eyes widened at Diane’s words, shock written across her face.
She couldn’t believe those words had just come from Diane’s mouth!
"Watson, just confess already. Cornel Drake was chasing you back then, not me..." Diane stuttered.
"Elders... I mean, grandpas, Watson was the one you wanted to capture, not me! Wah wah wah, please don’t come after me..."
The two old men exchanged thoughtful glances, then looked at Watson and nodded. "Should be her."
With that, both men stepped forward and seized Watson effortlessly.
Watson still hadn’t recovered from the shock.
She stared hard at Diane, her heart sinking like a stone.
Her best friend had actually said such things at a moment like this.
The pain was impossible to ignore.
The two old men dragged Watson from the dungeon and brought her to a cave entrance.
Inside the cave, various instruments filled the space.
Beyond that, countless snakes, insects, blood, and corpses were scattered everywhere.
At the very front stood a massive ritual platform!
A young man’s corpse lay in the center of the platform!
Helen Martin sat beside the body!
The scene terrified Watson, making her shake uncontrollably.
"Sect Leader, we brought the person," the two old men presented Watson.
Helen’s eyes suddenly locked onto Watson!
The cunning gleam in his gaze nearly made Watson break down in tears!
"Tsk tsk, so this is the pure dark energy body..." Helen licked his lips.
"Truly lives up to the reputation! Lives up to it!" Helen burst into laughter.
An elderly man beside Helen spoke in a low voice, "With the pure dark energy body, reviving the ancient ancestor shouldn’t be a problem."
"Exactly," Helen nodded slightly.
His eyes narrowed as he said coldly, "Too bad the statue is still in Mason Raymond’s possession..."
"Mason Raymond? The chaotic body you mentioned?" the elder beside him asked.
Helen squinted. "Yes."
"If we could use the chaotic body to revive the ancient ancestor, he’d be unstoppable!" Helen said coldly.
A flash of anger crossed Helen’s face as he spoke.
He took a deep breath. "Shame we can’t capture Mason Raymond right now, so we’ll have to settle for the holy body temporarily."
The holy body was the male corpse lying in the platform’s center.
Originally, this corpse had been prepared for Helen himself.
Unfortunately, since they couldn’t find a better body to revive the ancient ancestor, they had to reluctantly surrender the holy body.
"It’s all Mason Raymond’s fault that the resurrection plan has been delayed this long! If we had the statue, the ancient ancestor would’ve been revived ages ago!" Helen said angrily.
"Once the ancient ancestor is revived, we won’t have to cower in fear hiding in this dump!"
As Helen spoke, his rage intensified, and he couldn’t help releasing a terrifying aura.
Under this pressure, the entire valley hummed!
Watson was shaken even more violently, blood streaming from her seven orifices, her face deathly pale.
"Doesn’t matter. Once the ancient ancestor is revived, we can go seize Mason Raymond’s body then," the elder beside him said.
Helen nodded and said seriously, "We have no other option."
"Sect leader, we shouldn’t waste more time in case something changes," someone reminded from the side.
Helen nodded and whispered, "Everyone gather, activate the resurrection formation!"
As soon as his words dropped, the eight elders shot into the air, taking positions at the formation’s eight points!
As for Watson, she was brought to a smelting furnace.
The furnace was freezing cold; the moment it touched Watson, it felt like it would drain her body completely!
Watson felt nothing but extreme pain, agony coursing through her entire body!
The bitter cold made Watson’s consciousness fuzzy.
However, her powerful survival instinct still made her cling to awareness stubbornly.
"I don’t want to die..." Watson whispered softly, her lips white with cold air escaping from her barely moving mouth.
"Formation, activate!" Helen roared, and the eight elders triggered their techniques simultaneously!
The entire formation exploded into brilliant light instantly!
Its radiance pierced through the valley and shot toward the sky!
As the formation activated, the dark energy within Watson’s body drained rapidly!
This kind of pain was unbearable even for Mason Raymond, let alone Watson!
"It hurts so much... so much..." tears flowed continuously from Watson’s eyes.
She wanted to struggle but found no strength left in her body.
"Mason, when will you finally come save me..." Watson’s face filled with despair, and her vision began to fade.
"Seems like... I’m really going to die here..." Watson couldn’t take it anymore; her eyelids fluttered, and the light in her eyes dimmed.
Just as Watson was about to lose consciousness, a blade’s energy suddenly rose from the sky, splitting the valley apart!
The cave was directly cleaved by the sword energy, creating a massive gap!
But the terrifying sword energy didn’t fade. Instead, it fell toward the resurrection formation!
"Not good!" Helen’s face changed, and he flew into the air to dodge!
The eight elders didn’t dare be careless either, and almost simultaneously, they shot to the side!
The formation ground to a halt at that moment.
Helen’s face was ice-cold, his chest burning with rage!
"Who dares ruin my Earth Fiend Valley’s revival plan?!" Helen roared, his voice shaking the heavens!
"Helen, didn’t expect you to be hiding in a place like this." My voice came from the entrance.
Helen’s pupils contracted, and he hurriedly looked toward the entrance!
Sure enough, Conrad Schroeder and I stood coldly at the doorway.
"Mason Raymond?" Helen couldn’t help being surprised, then burst into laughter.
"Mason Raymond, I’ve been worried about not being able to kill you, but I didn’t expect you to deliver yourself to me! Hahaha!" Helen couldn’t help laughing heartily.
I sneered, "Helen, you’re at death’s door, yet you still manage to laugh?"
"The one who’s going to die is you!" Helen said coldly.
"With your strength, you dare break into my Earth Fiend Valley?"
"Helen, you almost killed my son. Today, I’ll make you pay with your life!" Conrad’s hair danced wildly, murderous intent surrounding him!
Helen squinted. "With just the two of you? An Inner Strength Master and a newly-promoted Grandmaster?"
