Chapter 263: Chapter 263 - Mountain Trap

Cornel Drake felt quite satisfied with himself that evening, so he consumed a considerable amount of alcohol.

When he departed, he wobbled and swayed, feeling elated.

He arrived at the underground parking garage by himself, preparing to drive home. However, at that instant, he sensed a cold sensation crawling up his spine.

Cornel instinctively spun around, only to discover a menacing elderly man seated behind him.

"Ah!"

Cornel jumped in shock, shaking, and more than half his intoxication vanished!

The elderly man lifted his hand and placed it on Cornel’s shoulder, applying such immense pressure that Cornel couldn’t move!

"Sir... I’ll pay you whatever amount you desire. Just spare my life..." Cornel was so terrified he nearly soiled himself.

The elderly man glared at Cornel with malice, then brought his head nearer.

A powerful stench of rotten breath suddenly hit Cornel’s nostrils.

Already intoxicated, Cornel almost vomited immediately.

"The woman, Watson Thompson... Our Earth Fiend Valley has set our sights on her... You... must not lay a finger on her..." the elderly man spoke threateningly.

Cornel was shocked.

This elderly man was actually pursuing Watson?

And what was this Earth Fiend Valley he mentioned?

"Following your competition tomorrow, bring her to an isolated location and deliver her to me..." the elderly man whispered into Cornel’s ear.

Though Cornel desired Watson’s body, in such circumstances, he lacked the nerve to decline.

"Yes, yes, don’t worry. I’ll absolutely do it!" Cornel quickly agreed.

While he consented aloud, Cornel couldn’t stop himself from smirking internally.

Just wait until I escape, then who are you? I’ll simply contact the authorities and have you arrested!

As for Watson, she belongs to me!

Seemingly, the elderly man had anticipated his thoughts.

The elderly man extended a finger and a threatening skull materialized before Cornel’s vision.

Witnessing this, Cornel was so terrified he nearly collapsed, and his trousers turned yellow from fear.

"You better follow my instructions, otherwise... I’ll ensure you regret being born!" the elderly man declared menacingly.

Frightened beyond measure, Cornel shielded his eyes and yelled, "I will, I will!"

Following those words, no further sound came from the back seat.

Gathering his nerve, Cornel glanced back.

The rear seat was now vacant.

Dabbing the perspiration from his brow, Cornel muttered with remaining dread, "What was that creature? It was horrifying..."

——

The following day.

Dimitri Brynlee remained hidden, which slowly made me drop my guard.

Still, I didn’t remove my formation because when dealing with a formidable adversary like Dimitri, I had to stay alert.

That day, I ventured out with Victor Green to explore the herb market and purchase some plants to cultivate in White City.

By chance, Victor and I encountered Watson and Diane shortly after we departed.

"Watson? Where are you going?" I called out to Watson.

Watson responded with some astonishment, "What a coincidence! I never expected to encounter you here!"

Diane, standing nearby, gazed at me and declared, "Some individuals really aren’t men whatsoever."

While speaking, Diane’s gaze remained locked on me.

This left me rather confused and I scowled, "Are you referring to me?"

"Who else would I be referring to?" Diane snorted.

"Is this about Watson...?"

"Stop, don’t mention it anymore." Watson cut in just as Diane was about to continue.

Following that, Watson quickly acknowledged me and then rushed away with Diane.

I remained bewildered, observing their departing forms. "I don’t believe I upset her..." I scratched my head.

"Who can understand what young women think?" Victor Green grumbled.

After purchasing a bag full of herbs at the herbal market, darkness had fallen by the time we got back home.

I set those herbs to the side and retrieved the Divine Medicine from my room.

"Since Dimitri Brynlee isn’t appearing anytime soon, I should think about secluding myself from the world," I contemplated.

With the Divine Medicine’s assistance, I chose to attempt breaking through to the Monastic Stage.

Upon reaching the Monastic Stage, I felt certain I wouldn’t fear any Grandmaster, even privileged noble youths like Vance Johansson.

After thorough consideration, I decided to return to River City for my seclusion.

Shiglance City was crowded and disorderly, which might easily create unwanted complications.

While I was thinking, my phone suddenly buzzed.

Answering it, I noticed it was from an unfamiliar number.

"Hello?" I cautiously picked up the call.

The caller berated, "Mason Raymond, you’re not a man whatsoever! Because of you, Watson Thompson angered Cornel Drake, don’t you realize?"

It sounded like Diane.

However, her words left me rather baffled.

Wasn’t Diane the original cause?

"What do you mean?" I frowned.

Diane spoke through gritted teeth, "Cornel Drake challenged you to a car race, but you refused. Watson chose to face him instead."

"Consequently, Cornel deliberately rammed her off the course during the race, and Watson is now unconscious!" Diane said through clenched teeth.

"I’m telling you, Watson agreed to comply with whatever Cornel requested if she lost the race. Cornel is a pervert, so you’d better find a solution!"

After saying that, Diane ended the call.

I frowned, and after some consideration, I searched for nearby racing venues and then drove off hastily.

——

At this moment, at the racetrack.

Cornel was infamous for his underhanded tactics on the course, and the racers who competed against him typically didn’t emerge unharmed.

Watson, with her limited experience, was forced into an accident by Cornel.

Inside the vehicle, Watson was unconscious and wounded in multiple places.

"Don’t worry, I’ll rush her to the hospital immediately," Cornel declared with false nobility.

"Cornel, if anything happens to Watson, I won’t forgive you!" Diane said furiously.

Cornel glanced at Diane and remarked sarcastically, "Weren’t you addressing me as ’Brother Cornel’ just days ago?"

"Who knew you were such a despicable, shameless, wicked person!" Diane shouted.

Cornel’s expression darkened.

He studied Diane with narrowed eyes, and a surge of excitement coursed through him:

Though Diane doesn’t match Watson in beauty, she’s certainly exceptional!

Furthermore, since Diane’s background wasn’t as complex as Watson’s, she would be a perfect choice for some entertainment...

"How did I overlook Diane before..." Cornel couldn’t help but stare at her lustfully.

Diane glared back and said, "What are you waiting for? Aren’t you going to hurry and bring Watson to the hospital?"

Cornel pondered for a moment and grinned, "Diane, why don’t you accompany me to take Watson to the hospital? If I go by myself, would you feel comfortable?"

Hearing this, Diane frowned slightly.

After a brief pause, she nodded, "I’ll come with you. If anything happens to Watson, I certainly won’t forgive you!"

"Sure, no problem!" Cornel sneered internally.

Wait until we reach our destination, and I’ll make you pay!

Then, Cornel lifted Watson toward the vehicle.

Seeing Watson’s two smooth slender legs, Cornel found it difficult to look away, nearly salivating.

But recalling the scene from the previous evening, Cornel trembled and ultimately didn’t dare make a move.

Cornel drove away from the racetrack and headed toward a secluded mountain.

At this moment, on this mountain, an elderly man was waiting.
