Chapter 257: Chapter 257 - Final Ultimatum

Kathleen Drake jumped back, startled, afraid to even touch the jade pendant.

I flicked my finger, and the jade pendant cracked apart instantly.

"Don’t worry, I’ll find you another protective jade pendant," I told her.

After everything that happened, the jade pendant had actually helped me out some. It wouldn’t be right not to pay her back.

Kathleen rushed to say, "Mason Raymond, thank you for saving me again..."

That’s when I remembered Watson Thompson’s situation.

"By the way, I heard you’re doing a concert in Shiglance City soon?" I asked.

The moment I brought this up, Kathleen perked right up.

She said with a hint of pride, "What, you heard about it too? I thought you didn’t care about celebrities!"

I looked at her and said flatly, "It’s my friend who wants tickets to your concert."

"Your friend wants them?" Kathleen seemed let down.

"If it were you, sure, no problem. But your friend, that’s different," Kathleen said deliberately.

"Oh, never mind then." I got up and headed back to my room.

Kathleen stamped her foot angrily and glared at me, "You really have no sense of humor at all! Are you this way with every girl?"

"Pretty much, except for one." I smiled.

That one exception was Mabel Sean, of course.

Around Mabel, I always found myself acting like a kid without thinking about it.

Maybe that’s what it felt like to be treasured.

"Fine, fine." Kathleen seemed to deflate.

"When your friend shows up, let me know. I’ll get her through the VIP entrance."

I nodded and said, "Thanks, then. I owe you one."

"Come on, you’ve helped me out so many times already. This tiny favor is nothing," Kathleen said.

I smiled and didn’t say anything else. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

Kathleen didn’t stick around and quickly vanished into the night.

The next morning.

I jogged a few laps around the neighborhood. I had to admit the morning air really was fresh.

When I got back home, it was just after eight in the morning. But as soon as I reached the door, I saw Watson Thompson waiting for me.

"Did you get the tickets yet?" The second Watson spotted me, she ran over excitedly.

I shook my head, "No."

"What?" Watson panicked instantly.

"There’s only one day left before the concert! I’ve been bragging to my classmates about this, how am I supposed to show my face if you can’t get them?" Watson pouted.

I rolled my eyes, "Why do you kids always like showing off? Don’t worry, I didn’t get tickets, but I can get you through the VIP entrance."

"Really?" Watson lit up instantly.

She even jumped up, trying to kiss my cheek.

But I dodged it.

"Alright, if that’s all, go home quick. Don’t waste my time," I said.

"You better not forget tomorrow..." Watson muttered.

I didn’t answer, and when I got back inside, Victor Green walked up to me with a phone in his hand.

"Mr. Raymond," Victor’s brow was furrowed, and he looked troubled.

I glanced at him and asked, "What’s up?"

Victor took a deep breath and said, "Dimitri Brynlee sent a message."

"Oh?" I raised an eyebrow, curious now.

Victor went on, "Dimitri Brynlee says he’s giving you three days to come to the Brynlee family and face your punishment. If you don’t show up, he’ll personally come to Chuzzle."

I sneered, "This Dimitri Brynlee has some nerve, ordering me to come and meet my doom?"

Victor frowned and said, "Mr. Raymond, this Dimitri Brynlee isn’t simple, his power is way beyond people like Conrad Schroeder."

"Word is he was already a Fifth Rank Grandmaster three years ago, and nobody knows how strong he is now!"

"There are even rumors he’s in the top five in River North Region!"

I rubbed my chin and muttered, "So he’s not even number one... What’s he got to be so cocky about then?"

Victor Green was speechless.

He sighed and said, "Mr. Raymond, you better hurry up and figure out a plan."

"I do need to come up with something," I thought quietly.

The power the Earth Fiend Valley Ancestor lent me wouldn’t last that long.

With my current strength, beating Dimitri Brynlee would be tough.

"Looks like setting up the formation ahead of time is my only option," I thought to myself.

Another day went by.

My life had been pretty relaxed these past couple of days. Even though my reputation was out there, nobody came to challenge me, and nobody tried to join up with me either.

Maybe because of Dimitri Brynlee, everyone was just waiting.

In the afternoon,

Watson Thompson called me.

She asked anxiously, "Why aren’t you here yet? Did you forget about it?"

I scratched my head.

I really had forgotten about it.

"I’m heading over now," I said.

The concert venue was Shiglance City Stadium.

I rushed over and got there quickly.

What shocked me was the massive crowd, even requiring staff to keep order.

The whole street was packed with people, some selling stuff and others just waiting.

"Do celebrities really draw crowds like this?" I hadn’t expected this.

I had no choice but to call Watson.

After I parked the car, Watson hurried over.

There was also a little girl about her age with her.

The girl was dressed pretty trendy, with a small tattoo on her collarbone – clearly a rebellious teen.

"Watson, is this the brother you were talking about? He doesn’t look like much, just driving an old Audi. Can he really handle this?" The girl looked me over as she spoke.

Watson’s face darkened as she said helplessly, "Girl, do you know what an RS7 is? This is a performance car."

"Even if it’s a performance car, it’s still an old Audi. My friends all drive Porsches!" The girl said proudly.

Watson didn’t bother arguing with her and just asked me, "When can you get us inside?"

I thought for a moment and said, "I’ll call Kathleen Drake."

"Call Kathleen Drake? Wow, uncle, you’re really full of it. You think she’d even notice you?" The girl rolled her eyes.

Even Watson found it hard to believe.

"Mason, you’re laying it on a bit thick, aren’t you?" Watson muttered.

I smiled and said, "Just wait and see."

Right then, two young guys walked over from nearby.

"Diane, are you here for the concert too?" One of the young men asked.

The girl called Diane quickly responded, "Cornel Drake? What brings you here? Did you manage to get tickets?"

Cornel Drake said casually, "With my connections, getting a few tickets is no big deal."

"Wow, Cornel is so awesome!" Diane immediately said excitedly.

After that, she shot a scornful look at Watson and said, "Look at Cornel, then look at your friend."

"Not only does he not have tickets, but he keeps claiming he knows Kathleen Drake. It’s ridiculous."

"Knows Kathleen Drake? As far as I know, Kathleen doesn’t have any friends in Chuzzle." Cornel said indifferently.

After saying that, he looked at me and frowned, saying, "It’s actually you?!"
