Chapter 232: Chapter 232 - Doubtful Alliance
I was thrilled and quickly said, "Excellent work!"
Then Woods Walters texted me the address and time.
The meeting was scheduled for noon at the biggest local restaurant called No.1 Winery.
When noon arrived, I got myself ready and prepared to head out.
Before leaving, I told Victor Green, "Keep an eye on the medicine plants in the garden for me, and don’t forget to water them later."
"Yeah, yeah." Victor Green brushed me off with an impatient wave.
After that, I drove to No.1 Winery.
——
In a small private room at the winery, three people sat waiting.
One old man and two young men.
"Master, do you really believe this Mason Raymond has that kind of skill?" one of the young men asked with a frown.
Wallace Wills spoke seriously, "I don’t think I’m wrong about this. I know Conrad Schroeder well. He cares deeply about his family’s honor. If Mason Raymond wasn’t capable, Conrad wouldn’t willingly bow to him."
"I still find it hard to believe." The other young man scoffed quietly.
"Master, I heard Mason Raymond has some special connection with the Sean family."
"Plus, Mabel Sean herself came to Capital City and asked Conrad Schroeder to let someone go. I think Conrad Schroeder was mostly scared of the Sean family."
Wallace Wills stayed quiet.
He rubbed his chin, thinking it over, then nodded. "Well, that’s definitely possible. Let’s meet him first, then decide."
The two disciples said nothing more and sat there waiting quietly.
A few minutes passed.
——
I walked through the door.
When they saw me, both disciples frowned even deeper.
Judging by my aura, I was only an Inner Strength Master, not even a Grandmaster. How could I possibly beat Conrad Schroeder, who was a Grandmaster?
Wallace Wills had his doubts too.
An Inner Strength Master could never take down a Grandmaster. Not even the most incredible genius could pull that off!
Was I just all reputation and no substance?
"You must be Mr. Wallace Wills, the King of Medicine." I stepped forward and shook hands with Wallace Wills.
Wallace Wills gave a slight nod, and after we shook hands, I sat down.
After some small talk, Wallace Wills said with obvious flattery, "Mr. Raymond, it’s really impressive how much you’ve accomplished at such a young age."
I replied, "Mr. Wills, you’re too kind. Compared to you, what I’ve done isn’t worth talking about."
One of the disciples chuckled, "Mr. Raymond, I’ve heard so much about your incredible strength, even beating Conrad Schroeder. Seeing you today is really... surprising."
The compliment was loaded with doubt.
The other disciple was even more direct. "I think Conrad Schroeder was just being careful."
I frowned slightly. Though I wasn’t happy about it, I didn’t say much more.
"Mr. Raymond, if you don’t mind, would you be willing to spar with me?" The disciple stood up, clearly challenging me.
I glanced at Wallace Wills and shook my head. "Let’s skip that. I’m here to ask for Mr. Wills’s help today."
"Hehe." The disciple laughed and said nothing else.
Right then, I felt a wave of energy sweep over me.
It only lasted a moment, but I caught it.
I looked at Wallace Wills instinctively and couldn’t help frowning slightly.
This Wallace Wills wasn’t simple! Really deserved the title King of Medicine.
"Mr. Wills, I’m here to talk business with you." I cut straight to the point without wasting time.
Wallace Wills sipped his wine and smiled. "What kind of business does Mr. Raymond want to discuss?"
I was quiet for a moment, then said, "You have the title of King of Medicine, Mr. Wills, so you must have top-quality medicines."
Wallace Wills nodded slightly without false modesty. "That’s right, I have more than a dozen medicines that are hundreds of years old."
Hearing this, I couldn’t help but gasp!
More than a dozen medicines that were hundreds of years old - Wallace Wills was seriously loaded!
I said eagerly, "Mr. Wills, I’d like to buy a few from you. Whatever price you want!"
"Mr. Raymond, you’re underestimating my master. Do you really think my master needs money?" The disciple sneered.
I quickly changed my approach. "Mr. Wills, if possible, I’d like to trade something of equal value with you!"
"Equal value?" Wallace Wills raised an eyebrow.
He set down his wine glass and smiled slightly. "Mr. Raymond, I hope you don’t mind me asking, what kind of valuable thing do you have?"
I thought for a moment and said, "Pills. Would those work? Whatever kind of pill you need, as long as you ask, I can try to make it."
"Hahahaha!" Wallace Wills burst out laughing.
"I didn’t expect Mr. Raymond to be an alchemist." Wallace Wills said with a smirk.
I nodded. "I know a bit."
Wallace Wills’s eyes narrowed slightly.
After thinking it over, he suddenly said, "Fine, if you can make a Nine Transformation Pill, you can pick any of my medicines!"
"Nine Transformation Pill?" I immediately searched through my inherited memories.
Soon, the recipe for the Nine Transformation Pill showed up in my mind.
"No problem!" I agreed right away.
As long as I had the recipe, the Nine Transformation Pill shouldn’t be too hard.
"Alright, it’s a deal!" Wallace Wills nodded.
I happily raised my wine glass and clinked it with Wallace Wills’s.
After the meal, I said goodbye to Wallace Wills and left the winery.
——
As soon as Mason Raymond left, Wallace Wills’s face turned dark.
"Master, this kid is definitely bluffing." The disciple snorted coldly.
"Exactly! He wouldn’t take my challenge. He must be lying about his abilities!" The other disciple chimed in.
Even Wallace Wills snorted coldly.
He looked at his two disciples and said, "Based on his aura, he really does seem to be just a seventh-stage Inner Strength Master, weak and nothing special."
"And... I deliberately tested him with the Nine Transformation Pill, and he actually agreed to it." Wallace Wills said, eyes narrowing.
"You should know that even in the Divine Alchemist Pavilion, very few people can make the Nine Transformation Pill! Clearly, he’s just bragging!"
The other two disciples nodded in agreement.
Besides how hard it was to make the Nine Transformation Pill, the ingredient requirements were extremely demanding.
Mason Raymond agreed so quickly that it made Wallace Wills suspicious.
"Master, it looks like the King of Chuzzle is nothing but hot air. We’ll have to find someone else to work with." The disciple said seriously.
Wallace Wills nodded slightly and sighed slowly. "Good thing I didn’t tell Mason Raymond about the Divine Medicine showing up..."
