Chapter 228: Chapter 228 - Noble Sacrifice
Conrad Schroeder’s presence grew heavier and heavier, an oppressive force bearing down.
My face revealed a touch of gravity.
Conrad Schroeder was a Grandmaster, after all, and his power couldn’t be taken lightly.
One blow from him could end my life right here.
"Rumble..."
Conrad Schroeder raised his palm and brought it crashing down toward me!
"Mr. Raymond!"
Right then, a loud cry echoed from outside.
Looking back, I saw Victor Green gasping at the doorway.
He carried someone in his arms.
It was Anton Schroeder!
Anton lay still in Victor Green’s embrace, appearing lifeless.
"My son!" The instant Conrad Schroeder spotted Anton, he charged forward!
He clutched Anton desperately and asked with panic, "Son, what... what happened to you..."
I breathed a sigh of relief.
I’d already sensed something was wrong, so I’d checked on the Schroeder Family’s situation beforehand.
Then, I’d arrived at the Schroeder Family residence early and taken a strand of Anton’ hair, using the same technique I’d used to track Mabel Sean, to trace Anton’ location.
I’d then sent Victor Green to retrieve Anton while I went to the banquet alone.
"Thank God I made it in time," I said with lingering fear.
If Conrad Schroeder’s palm had connected, I would’ve surely died!
"Mason Raymond, how did you locate Anton?" Helen Martin stared at me with reluctant eyes.
I smirked, "You think that concerns you?"
Nearby, Conrad Schroeder still cradled Anton’ form.
To his anguish, he discovered that Anton showed no signs of life.
"Helen Martin, you dared to trick me! I’ll destroy you!!" Conrad Schroeder bellowed with grief and fury, his rage bringing down the house!
Sensing this terrifying killing intent, Helen Martin’s expression shifted suddenly!
"Damn it, in my current condition, I can’t fight back!" Helen Martin whispered to himself.
"Curse you, Mason Raymond, mark my words, I’ll end you eventually!"
In this critical moment, Helen Martin dropped those words, separated from Zachary Ortega’s body, became black smoke, and escaped!
"Stop!"
I shouted desperately!
But it was too late!
Consumed by fury, Conrad Schroeder only wanted to eliminate Helen Martin before him!
But the person standing there was no longer Helen Martin, but Zachary Ortega!
In desperation, I gritted my teeth, my body flashed, positioning myself in front of Zachary Ortega.
"Second-layer Saintly Body Skill!" I yelled and rapidly engaged the technique.
My form instantly turned golden as I took the hit with my physical body.
"Boom!"
The devastating palm force struck me directly!
A huge section of ground beneath me collapsed, dust rising and blocking everyone’s vision.
"Mr. Raymond!" Victor Green panicked and rushed forward frantically.
Even I couldn’t handle this attack.
My golden radiance cracked, and blood nearly covered my entire face.
"Mr. Raymond!" Victor Green was desperate, holding my body and crying out.
"Quit shouting... I’m still breathing..." Just as Victor Green grieved, I suddenly rose from the ground.
My body swayed slightly, clearly having taken serious damage from that strike.
"You... you’re okay?" Victor Green asked worriedly.
I gestured dismissively and then hobbled toward Conrad Schroeder’s direction.
"Why did you block me!" Conrad Schroeder glared at me fiercely, his eyes practically shooting flames!
I waved my hand and said, "Helen Martin already escaped, and this body belongs to an innocent man named Zachary Ortega..."
Conrad Schroeder roared in fury, "I want to go to the southwest, I want to destroy Earth Fiend Valley!"
"Hold on..." I waved my hand.
I approached Anton Schroeder, stretching out my hand and placing it on his chest.
I used the remaining qi in my body to flow into Anton’ form.
Then I raised my other hand and positioned it on Anton’ forehead.
Threads of dark energy were drawn by me from Anton’ body.
After a moment, the motionless Anton on the ground suddenly coughed!
Hearing this cough, a flash of joy crossed Conrad’s face!
"My son!" Conrad rushed over and caught Anton, his weathered face instantly wet with tears!
By now, I had no energy left, and I whispered, "Good thing I saved him in time, or he might’ve died..."
After saying this, I collapsed heavily to the ground!
"Mr. Raymond!" Victor Green called out!
"Conrad, this is your fault, you nearly killed Mr. Raymond!" Victor Green glared at Conrad with anger.
Conrad turned around, faced me, and dropped to his knees with a "thud."
"Mr. Raymond, thank you for saving my son... From now on, I’ll follow your every order!" Conrad wept with aged tears flowing down his face.
If his earlier submission was from fear, now it came from admiration and respect.
I stayed in bed for an entire night.
It wasn’t until early morning the next day that my body slowly started to heal.
"Phew!"
The following day, I leaped out of the large bed.
I stretched my body, feeling aches everywhere.
"Conrad’s palm strike...nearly finished me," I muttered.
Soon, Conrad entered with Anton from outside the door.
"Mr. Raymond, you’re up," Conrad bowed and said.
I rolled my eyes and said, "I almost didn’t get up."
This made Conrad feel somewhat ashamed, and he immediately bowed again to me.
Then, Conrad looked at Anton and scolded, "Hurry and thank your rescuer!"
Anton stared at me and said with some attitude, "Well, thanks."
"Say it properly!" Conrad scolded.
I waved my hand and said, "Forget it, I just did it on a whim anyway, don’t worry about it."
Conrad opened his mouth, suddenly unsure what to say.
"If there’s nothing else, I’ll head out first," I said as I got up from the bed.
Conrad quickly said, "You’re leaving so early?"
"Yeah, time’s valuable, and I can’t waste it." I muttered.
Conrad had no option but to escort me out of Shiglance City.
At this moment, I suddenly remembered something.
I turned to look at Conrad and grinned, "One day, I’ll personally destroy Earth Fiend Valley."
After leaving those words, I turned and walked away.
Though I’d originally planned to go to White City, I decided to check River City first after thinking it over.
After all, it was still my hometown, and I felt a connection there.
The car raced down the road, and soon I returned to River City.
——
That day, the entrance to Longyue Community received an unwelcome visitor.
A Maybach sat parked at the entrance, its Capital City license plate showing the visitor’s importance.
A young man burst through the villa’s gates and entered Mason’s house.
He moved as if nobody was around, as if he owned the place.
The young man stood in Mason’s bedroom.
Looking at the wall completely covered with group photos, his expression grew colder.
