Chapter 216: Chapter 216 - King of Chuzzle
With a large number of merchants gone from River City, the event caused quite a stir. But luckily, Woods Walters knew how to handle things, and the problem got swept under the rug pretty fast.
A few more days went by.
Conrad Schroeder suddenly made a public announcement: Starting today, the Schroeder Family would bow down to Mason Raymond.
The second this news broke, it sent shockwaves through all of Chuzzle! For a while, pretty much the whole province was talking about it. From the big-shot families right down to regular dinner table gossip.
And the stories just kept getting crazier, turning Mason Raymond into some kind of legend in just a few days!
——
"Mr. Raymond, check out the nickname they stuck you with online." One day, right after I got up, Victor Green walked over with his phone.
I grabbed the phone and saw they’d given me a nickname - "King of Chuzzle."
This instantly gave me a massive headache.
"Even when the Schroeder Family was at their peak, nobody ever got a title like that," Victor Green said with a sigh.
I stayed quiet.
For me, this whole thing had good and bad sides. But clearly, the bad stuff outweighed the good.
"Let them call me whatever they want," I said, shaking my head. I wasn’t gonna waste time dealing with this mess.
...
River City was some nobody little town, but it sat right in the middle of several famous tourist spots. To the east was South City, south was Bluein City, and the most impressive one was White City up north.
Even though the two cities were only a hundred kilometers apart, the difference between them was huge. No joke - White City was basically the most economically developed city in all of Chuzzle Province.
Since their tourism business was booming, everything there was top-notch.
One day, Victor Green and I headed to White City. Our car was packed with tons of materials too.
Besides the herbs I brought from the warehouse, there was also the bronze sword and statue I picked up in Shiglance City.
During this time, I’d asked Conrad Schroeder to hunt down some hundred-year medicinal stuff, but he came back empty-handed, which really ticked me off.
So I turned my attention to White City.
White City had this newly developed scenic area with gorgeous surroundings and hardly any people around. Word was that tons of martial arts masters had come from this place, but changing times hadn’t let those masters develop the area.
Luckily, Conrad Schroeder was a grandmaster and had thrown money at the place.
When we got to the scenic area, the basic setup was almost done, but there were still plenty of workers busy with stuff.
After getting out of the car, I took a deep breath and felt the spiritual energy floating around the area.
"The spiritual energy isn’t super strong, but it’s way better than other places," I thought to myself.
I planned to set up a spiritual energy gathering formation near the scenic area to boost my own power.
Soon as we stepped out of the car, this professionally dressed woman came running over fast.
She said respectfully, "Are you the King of Chuzzle, Mason Raymond?"
Hearing that title made me feel pretty awkward, so I didn’t answer. But Victor Green confidently said, "Yeah, he’s the family head, the King of Chuzzle."
When she heard this, a flash of respect lit up in the woman’s eyes.
"They say you can kill a tiger with one punch and have even killed a real dragon - is that true?" the woman asked eagerly.
"...What kind of crap are they spreading? It’s getting more ridiculous..." I muttered.
After some small talk, we found out this woman was in charge of the scenic area and also a top executive at one of the Schroeder Family’s companies. Her name was Neveah Solomon.
To Neveah Solomon, Conrad Schroeder had always been this legendary figure! So Conrad Schroeder bowing down naturally made Neveah admire me even more.
The whole way there, Neveah wouldn’t stop gushing about how much she respected me.
My ears were about to get calluses from listening. I said helplessly, "Miss Solomon, actually all those rumors are bull. I’m not that amazing."
But Neveah didn’t buy it. She gave me a thumbs up and said, "Mr. Raymond, you’re really strong and humble!"
I couldn’t take it anymore, so I waved my hand and said, "How about this - you head back to the office first, and I’ll walk around nearby by myself."
"I’ll come with you! So you won’t get lost!" Neveah said enthusiastically.
"No, really," I declined politely.
Neveah had no choice but to agree. "Alright, just call me if you need anything."
After getting rid of Neveah, I couldn’t help wiping the sweat from my forehead.
"What the hell is all this?" I said helplessly.
Victor Green rolled his eyes. "You must be pretty happy inside, right?"
"Go to hell!" I kicked Victor Green’s butt.
After that, the two of us wandered around the scenic area.
The whole scenic area had just been built, and it was less than a week from being finished. So there weren’t any tourists here, but there were quite a few workers doing their thing.
In the scenic area, there was this villa section that was gonna be rented out to tourists.
I walked over to this villa area, picked a spot with pretty strong spiritual energy, and stopped.
"This is the place," I said, coming to a halt.
"Tell Neveah later to fence off the villa here," I told Victor Green.
Victor Green nodded quickly. "Got it."
Since we’d picked a location, Victor Green and I went to the office to let Neveah Solomon know.
Right then, some noise came from not far away.
When I turned my head, I saw this beautifully dressed girl yelling at a worker who was doing his job.
"Are you fucking blind? Do you know how expensive my shoes are?" the woman cursed loudly.
The worker’s face was full of fear. He was shaking and said, "I’m sorry, I...I really didn’t see it, I...I’ll pay for it."
"Pay? These shoes cost over ten thousand. Can you afford it?" the woman glared.
When the worker heard that number, his face went ugly real fast.
"That expensive..." the worker whispered.
He pulled out a few hundred bucks from his pocket and handed it to the woman with a trembling hand.
"Here’s some money for now. When I get paid, I’ll give you the rest..." the worker said nervously.
But the woman slapped the money away.
"Get your dirty hands off! What do you want standing so close to me? Are you trying to be a creep?" the woman yelled.
After throwing out those words, the woman turned to her phone and shouted, "Everyone, this nasty construction worker wants to take advantage of me. What should I do?"
"I... I didn’t..." the worker panicked.
But the woman sneered, "You don’t know who I am, do you? I’m the famous internet celebrity Yoyo! Let me tell you, my viewers said you have to get on your knees, clean my shoes with your tongue, or they’ll report you for being a pervert!"
