Chapter 206: Chapter 206 - Mabel Mobilizes
Caldwell’s scheme was nothing short of perfect. He’d been eyeing Woods Walters’ position for ages but never got his shot.
With Mason Raymond in deep trouble, he could finally make his move.
That evening.
Woods Walters slumped in his office chair, worry etched across his face.
"Woods, try not to stress too much. Mr. Raymond’s got the Sean family backing him, right?" Kenneth offered comfort.
Woods Walters took a hard pull from his cigarette and muttered, "Sure, but we’re this far in and the Sean family still hasn’t lifted a finger. I’m worried..."
He left the words hanging, but his meaning was crystal clear.
Kenneth fell silent, knowing the mess in Shiglance City was way beyond their reach.
Just then, someone slammed the office door open!
A mob of people flooded in, boxing Woods Walters and his crew against the walls!
Woods Walters’ expression darkened as he snapped, "Who the hell are you people barging into my office? Got a death wish?"
"Haha, Woods Walters, it’s your old pal." Caldwell strolled through the doorway.
Woods Walters’ face went stone cold when he spotted Caldwell.
"What’s your game?" Woods Walters demanded.
Caldwell let out a snort. "My game? Woods Walters, you’ve been warming that chair way too long. Time for some fresh blood."
"You’re asking for trouble!" Woods Walters exploded!
He grabbed the desk phone to call backup.
"Save your breath. Your boys are already handled," Caldwell said casually.
Woods Walters’ face went pale - he never thought Caldwell would pick this moment to strike!
"Caldwell, you’ve got some balls! Not worried about choking on more than you can swallow?" Woods Walters narrowed his eyes.
Caldwell examined his fingernails and chuckled. "With all of River City’s business ties in my pocket, what’s there to worry about? Your support’s gone, Woods Walters. Your era just ended!"
"You bastard!" Kenneth exploded, trying to get up, but Franklin Duarte’s hand clamped down on his shoulder.
"Stay put, unless you want to graduate from that wheelchair," Franklin Duarte said flatly.
Kenneth’s face went white. "Inner Strength Expert?"
Hearing those words made Woods Walters’ heart drop.
Caldwell had clearly spent months planning this takeover!
"Drag them out!" Caldwell commanded.
"Got it!"
And just like that, Woods Walters - once River City’s king - got hauled out of his own office without a sound.
His army of loyal followers had already scattered like smoke.
When empires crumble, there’s no dramatic crash - just a quiet, bitter sigh.
...
Jasper Thompson was going out of his mind.
Past midnight, and sleep was impossible.
He’d burned through every contact he had, but they all turned him down flat.
Nobody seemed capable of saving Mason Raymond.
"Dad, you’ve got to figure something out!" Watson Thompson grabbed Jasper Thompson’s arm, panic in her voice.
Jasper Thompson looked at Watson and shook his head. "I’ve tried everything, but... damn."
Watson’s face went white. "What do we do now? Just sit here and watch Mason Raymond die?"
Jasper Thompson said nothing, just kept puffing his cigarette.
Watson fumed. "This Schroeder Family is ridiculous! They think they own the whole sky! How is there nobody who can take them down!"
"What are you planning? Watson, I’m warning you - don’t do anything stupid!" Jasper Thompson snapped.
Watson huffed and kept quiet, then stomped back to her room and slammed the door.
Lying in bed, her mind racing, she finally pulled out her phone and typed a number.
"Mabel, the Schroeder family grabbed Mason Raymond. They’re being total jerks - couldn’t beat him fair and square, so they used their political connections to lock him up!"
"They’re planning to execute him tomorrow. Dad tried all his contacts and got nowhere."
"Mabel, is the Schroeder family really that untouchable? Can’t anyone bring them down?"
After firing off those texts, Watson tossed her phone aside.
Around ten minutes later, Mabel Sean’s reply came back: "I’m heading to Chuzzle tomorrow."
Seeing that message on her screen, Watson shot out of bed!
...
Capital City, Sean family mansion.
Right now, one girl’s face was ice-cold with rage.
Her frozen expression carried a deadly aura that somehow made her even more stunning.
"The Schroeder family thinks they can pull the strings and control everything!"
"Is Chuzzle completely spineless?!"
Faced with Mabel Sean’s fury, even the powerful Jerry Sean kept his mouth shut.
"Mabel, relax. I’ll dispatch people to Chuzzle immediately," Jerry Sean said with a strained smile.
Mabel shot Jerry Sean a look and said coldly, "Don’t bother. I’m handling this personally."
"No need to make such a big deal over something minor," Jerry Sean said weakly.
"I said I’m handling it myself," Mabel replied icily.
"I want to see exactly how much juice the Schroeder family really has!"
"Disgusting scum!"
...
The following day.
The Sean family estate assigned eight grandmasters to guard Mabel during her trip.
These grandmasters weren’t like Conrad Schroeder, who’d barely scraped into grandmaster level.
They’d held grandmaster status for years, their power beyond imagination.
At the Sean family estate, a helicopter sat ready.
"Mabel, stay safe," Jerry Sean said, worry creeping into his voice.
Mabel nodded. "Grandpa, don’t worry."
She then climbed into the helicopter with the eight grandmasters.
The helicopter lifted off, cutting through the sky toward Chuzzle.
Once Mabel was gone, Jerry Sean’s gentle mask dropped instantly.
What took its place was bone-chilling coldness.
"Alert every player in Chuzzle to guarantee Miss’s protection."
"If my granddaughter loses so much as a hair, I’ll make Chuzzle burn!" Jerry Sean said frigidly.
"Understood, sir." The butler beside him nodded quickly.
...
Early that morning, Conrad Schroeder rose before dawn.
He deliberately dressed in his finest suit, looking sharp and determined.
Conrad stood before Tristin Schroeder’s portrait and whispered, "Son, don’t hold this against me. For the family’s sake, anyone can be sacrificed - you, me, anyone."
"But don’t worry. I’ll kill Mason Raymond for you and get your revenge." A vicious gleam flashed in Conrad’s eyes.
——
Meanwhile, in the prison cell, a heavy atmosphere filled the air.
Everyone seemed to sense what was coming, their faces showing traces of grief.
Only I stayed calm.
"Mr. Raymond..." Victor Green began, his eyes suddenly getting misty.
I rolled my eyes. "Real men bleed, they don’t cry. Keep it together."
Even though I was joking, it made Victor Green’s emotions overflow.
"Mr. Raymond, I’m ready to fight our way out with you!" Victor clenched his jaw.
I patted his shoulder and laughed. "No need."
