Chapter 200: Chapter 200 - Banquet Justice
After waking up, I felt my body was mostly recovered.
There was a non-stop stream of visitors dropping by, making me feel somewhat overwhelmed at times.
"It’s time to return to River City," I thought to myself.
At least in River City, there weren’t as many people to bother me, it was relatively quiet, and it would be a good opportunity for me to refine medicine to treat Blair Blake.
Besides this, I also had concerns about the situation in River City—after all, Conrad Schroeder had been there once.
So, I set off in my car for River City that day.
News of my return to River City spread quickly. Whenever someone spotted me on the road, they would take the initiative to greet me.
The impact of this event had far exceeded my imagination.
Not long after I came home, Woods Walters drove to the Longyue community.
When he saw me, Woods Walters dropped to his knees with a thud.
Tears streamed down his face, looking nothing like the underworld big shot he once was.
I stretched out my palm, a gentle force helping Woods Walters up.
"Why are you crying? What happened?" I frowned as I asked.
Woods Walters sobbed as he relayed everything that had happened.
"All these people are double-faced. If it weren’t for them, Kenneth wouldn’t have lost both his legs..." As he spoke, rivers of tears flowed from Woods Walters’s eyes again.
My face turned somber, a wave of anger surging within me.
I took a deep breath and slowly said, "Woods Walters, arrange a banquet tonight, say it’s to welcome me back."
Hearing this, Woods Walters nodded hurriedly, "Good, Mr. Raymond, who should we invite?"
"No need to invite anyone, those who should come will naturally come," I responded slowly.
Woods Walters nodded quickly, "I’ll go arrange it right away."
After Woods Walters left, I went upstairs.
If Conrad Schroeder could easily rally these businessmen, then why couldn’t I?
"Perhaps I’ve been too low-profile," I thought to myself.
It was because of this that my standing wasn’t seen as high in the eyes of the public.
Afterwards, I consulted the chef and prepared a full table of dishes, waiting for the attendees to come.
By evening time, countless businessmen flocked in.
People with reputations in River City didn’t want to miss this opportunity.
They came with generous gifts to Longyue community.
Even Mikael Gutierrez, who was there initially, showed up.
"Mr. Raymond, I never thought you could grow to this extent in such a short time," Mikael Gutierrez exclaimed.
I smiled and said, "Luck, I’m just lucky."
"Mr. Raymond, there’s no need to be modest," Mikael Gutierrez smiled bitterly.
Soon, the Longyue community was packed with people.
Among these people, some relied on the Soul Nourishment Pill for their livelihood, and some were purely there to celebrate my homecoming.
A moment later, Woods Walters also arrived at the scene.
While pushing Kenneth, who was sitting in a wheelchair, he walked towards me.
"Mr. Raymond," Kenneth greeted me.
Looking at Kenneth in the wheelchair, I felt a pang of guilt.
"Don’t worry, your legs will get better," I patted Kenneth’s shoulder.
Woods Walters gritted his teeth and said, "Mr. Raymond, you must not let these people get away with this!"
I smiled, "I have my plans, let’s sit down."
So, I led Woods Walters into the banquet hall.
As soon as they saw Woods Walters, the expressions of many people changed slightly.
"Mr. Walters, you’re here too," said Caldwell, the owner of a pharmaceutical factory.
Caldwell’s company was rather ordinary, but ever since he hitched his wagon to my grand enterprise, his business had soared alongside.
And he was the nucleus of this group, even being the first to grovel to Conrad Schroeder.
"If a character like you is here, why wouldn’t I be?" Woods Walters responded ill-temperedly.
Laughing sheepishly, Caldwell said, "Mr. Walters, why the fiery temper? Take a seat, let’s have a drink."
Woods Walters snorted coldly, not saying a word.
After I took my seat, Caldwell was first to raise his glass, standing up: "Here’s to Mr. Raymond, welcome home! This one’s for you!"
"Cheers," I raised my glass, clinking it against Caldwell’s.
Caldwell was immediately overjoyed.
It seemed that I did not hold grudges against him!
Consequently, the rest of the group also followed suit, toasting me one by one with raised glasses.
I didn’t reject any of them, meeting each one in kind.
This left Woods Walters somewhat confused. He anxiously said, "Mr. Raymond, they..."
Before Woods Walters could finish, I interrupted him with a wave of my hand.
After three rounds of alcohol and five courses of dishes, the atmosphere at the meal was somewhat harmonious, with only Woods Walters sitting there sulking.
Soon, the meal was coming to an end.
"Mr. Raymond, we never imagined you would achieve such greatness, we’re truly in awe!" Caldwell said cheerfully.
The others started to brown-nose as well.
I gave a slight smile. I put down my wine glass and looked around at everyone.
"Everyone is here for money, so there’s no right or wrong in choosing sides. Even if you follow Conrad Schroeder, I can understand," I slowly began.
Upon hearing these words, there was an audible sigh of relief among the crowd.
"However... those who’ve sought to take advantage of my difficult times and added insult to injury, they make me sick," my tone coldly shifted.
The atmosphere on the scene instantly froze and became awkward.
I surveyed the crowd and indifferently said, "Anyone who voluntarily admits their wrongs now, I may let slide."
The group exchanged glances, all eyes eventually gathering on Caldwell, seemingly waiting for him to set an example.
Caldwell glanced around, then finally stood up and said, "Mr. Raymond, what are you saying? How can Conrad Schroeder even compare to you?"
"Caldwell, that’s not what you were saying before!" Woods Walters was immediately furious.
Caldwell ignored Woods Walters and continued, "Mr. Raymond, don’t be fooled by traitors!"
"Who the fuck are you calling a traitor?" Woods Walters shouted in anger.
Unmoved, Caldwell scoffed and said, "Those who are guilty know it, and I believe everyone here understands."
Hearing Caldwell’s words, everyone seemed to receive an order and nodded in succession, "Right, Manager Caldwell is correct. Mr. Raymond, you mustn’t be deceived by traitors!"
Woods Walters was furious to the point of raging out. He glared at Caldwell, wishing he could tear him to pieces by himself!
"Mr. Raymond, as you can see, the public has clear eyes!" Caldwell said smilingly.
I looked at Caldwell, my eyes squinted and said, "Caldwell, not only did you add insult to my injury, but also you think I’m a fool."
Caldwell’s complexion changed. Just as he was about to speak, my hand swung through the air!
With a "thud!", Caldwell was flung horizontally! Fresh blood spurted out continuously!
Caldwell’s face was a little pale, but one thing was clear in his mind, he must not admit to anything no matter what!
Unmindful of his pain, Caldwell struggled to get up off the floor and said grievously, "Mr. Raymond, you’ve misunderstood me. I am telling the absolute truth!"
"The absolute truth?" I sneered.
"Seems like you just won’t admit till you see the coffin." Finishing my sentence, I clapped my hands.
A large screen suddenly flashed on the wall.
"Caldwell, have you ever heard of something called surveillance?" I asked with a sarcastic smile.
