Chapter 170: Chapter 170 - Powerful Connections
War chariots surged forward rapidly, surrounding our barbecue stall completely!
Commander Gordon stepped out of his vehicle shortly after, scanning the area with cold eyes. "Surround them! Don’t let even a fly escape!" he shouted.
"Yes, sir!" countless soldiers responded in unison, their voices deafening everyone nearby!
Not far from me, the bald man’s face turned ashen. He swallowed nervously and muttered, "What’s happening? This can’t involve me, right?"
At that moment, Watson Thompson darted over to Commander Gordon.
"Uncle Gordon!" she exclaimed, reaching him in just a few steps.
Upon seeing Watson, Commander Gordon’s expression instantly softened.
He smiled warmly. "Watson, are you alright?"
"I’m fine. Luckily you arrived when you did. Otherwise, these villains would have forced me to mine coal!" Watson wrinkled her nose and snorted indignantly.
From where I stood, I could see the bald man’s face turn deathly pale.
He was clearly terrified of what might happen next!
Commander Gordon waved his hand and ordered, "Arrest them all!"
"Yes, sir!"
Numerous soldiers immediately drew their weapons, aiming directly at the bald man and his associates!
The bald man trembled uncontrollably, cold sweat pouring down his face.
Forcing a smile, he stammered, "Commander... what’s going on? Is there some misunderstanding?"
Before Commander Gordon could respond, Watson glared at him. "You oppressed innocent people and exploited your position! What misunderstanding could there possibly be? You’re absolutely shameless! Mark my words, today you’ll all be arrested and face execution by firing squad!"
The bald man’s body instantly went limp, and he collapsed onto the ground.
"Miss, I didn’t realize who you were. Please forgive my offense... spare me..." he begged desperately.
Watson snorted, "Now you apologize? Did you consider others’ feelings when you were bullying them?"
Commander Gordon spoke coldly, "Enough talk. Take them all away and hand them over to the proper authorities. If there’s nothing wrong, you’ll be released. However, if Watson’s allegations are true, you’ll face the full extent of the law!"
After he finished speaking, soldiers stuffed the bald man and his associates into a vehicle.
The onlookers appeared completely shocked.
I could tell they were wondering what the hell was happening.
The barbecue stall owner gulped nervously.
So the young girl hadn’t been lying after all?
"Mason Raymond."
Commander Gordon spotted me nearby and walked over with a smile. "Watson was with you?"
I spread my hands. "She insisted on inviting me to dinner, so I had to come."
"Hmpf, you were the one who insisted on coming with me!" Watson retorted with a glare.
Commander Gordon chuckled softly, then waved his hand. "I won’t interrupt you two anymore. But... Mason, take good care of Watson."
"Don’t worry," I nodded helplessly.
After Commander Gordon departed, I had nearly finished my meal.
I patted my stomach. "Let’s go, I’ll take you home."
"This early? I wanted to go out and have some fun!" Watson protested reluctantly.
"It’s already late, and if you don’t go home, you might encounter something unpleasant!" I deliberately tried to frighten her.
Watson immediately paled and vigorously waved her hands. "No, I want to go home."
Without further delay, I drove Watson back to her place.
Before leaving, she leaned out of the car window. "Another day, I’ll introduce you to some friends so you can race cars together and see who’s faster!"
"I’m not interested," I rolled my eyes.
These car enthusiasts were all second-generation rich kids, not the type of people I associated with.
Besides, I didn’t have that much free time.
After driving home, I sent a message to Blair Blake, arranging to search for herbs the following night.
But plans rarely survive unchanged.
The next morning, Blair called me back.
His voice carried an apologetic tone. "Mr. Raymond, I’m sorry, but my father wants me to attend a social gathering with him tonight, so our plans have to be delayed by one day."
I laughed. "No problem, go ahead. I’m not in a hurry."
"Thank you!" Blair said gratefully.
For the entire day, I stayed in, not going out at all.
My mind was completely focused on cultivation.
"With my current strength, maybe I could try setting up a formation," I thought to myself.
Like the Water Dragon Cave previously, a single formation could gather an immeasurable amount of qi.
Besides that, I was also considering finding time to confirm whether I could cultivate using dark energy as well.
Time flew by quickly, and night soon fell.
That evening, my cell phone rang again.
Checking it, I saw Jasper Thompson was calling.
I answered. "Need something, Jasper?"
Jasper chuckled on the other end. "Are you free? Come join me at a party tonight."
"A party?" My eyebrows furrowed. "What kind of party?"
Jasper replied cheerfully, "Don’t worry, it will definitely benefit you."
At this point in the conversation, I decided not to ask further and agreed to attend.
After thinking it over, I decided to bring Elder Drake along to see the world, since he still primarily managed the factory.
Half an hour later, Jasper sent a car to pick us up at the hotel entrance.
Once inside, I couldn’t help asking, "Jasper, what kind of party are we attending?"
Jasper responded mysteriously, "You’ll find out when we get there. All of Shiglance City’s big shots will be present, and many are curious about you since you’ve been in the spotlight lately."
"As expected." This confirmed my suspicions.
The car sped the entire way, and we soon arrived at a hotel.
Many luxury vehicles were parked at the entrance.
The hotel had been completely booked for the event, and entry required an invitation.
I followed Jasper inside. The moment we entered, people approached to greet him.
Jasper said to me helplessly, "Wander around for now, I’ll find you later."
"Alright, go ahead," I nodded slightly.
Then Elder Drake and I began strolling through the venue.
The scale of the party was impressive. Everyone arrived dressed to impress, exuding an aura of importance.
"Recently, that guy named Mason Raymond has become quite popular. I heard he’s not only incredibly strong but also possesses the Blue Spirit Fire!"
"Yeah, I watched those videos too. Mason Raymond really has remarkable talent!"
Having wandered for only a short while, I overheard people discussing me.
This left me feeling somewhat perplexed.
"Never thought I’d become so famous," I muttered, touching my nose self-consciously.
"What’s so special about that damn Mason Raymond? He’s just a coward. I stole his Pill, and he didn’t even dare make a sound!"
Just then, an unpleasant voice reached my ears.
