Chapter 151: Chapter 151 - Vindicated Claim
Upon hearing my words, Lucian River burst into a hearty laugh. The old men surrounding him wore mocking expressions, looking at me as if I was some foolish clown.
"Going straight to the finals? I’ve never heard of such a thing," Lucian said, taking a sip of tea.
"Exactly, he doesn’t even know how to brag properly."
"At such a young age, not having much ability is one thing, but to be full of lies as well. Elder Drake, is this what you teach your students?"
Hearing their words, I could only respond with a cold sneer.
"Whether I’m directly guaranteed or not, we’ll know the result soon." I pulled Elder Drake to a spot and sat down.
Lucian chuckled. "I think you just want to stay here and not leave, right? Even if there really is a guarantee, it still has to pass through me, the president."
"How are you guaranteed when I don’t know about it as the Association President?" he asked mockingly.
I shot him a disdainful glance. "Some things don’t need your approval."
Lucian laughed out loud. "You really can brag. Alright, I’ll be waiting to see how you get directly into the finals!"
After saying this, Lucian put his teacup down heavily on the table.
I wasn’t in a rush. I calmly closed my eyes, waiting.
"Mr. Raymond, have you really been granted a direct entry to the finals?" Elder Drake asked with concern.
I smiled reassuringly. "Elder Drake, don’t worry, I never boast."
"That’s good, that’s good." Elder Drake patted his chest, showing that he held the Traditional Medicine Conference in high regard.
With my eyes closed, I tried to sense the surrounding aura. Unfortunately, I couldn’t feel even a trace of qi within the Traditional Medicine Association. I frowned, wondering if the Traditional Medicine Association had any herbs at all. What exactly was the purpose of this so-called Traditional Medicine Association?
Time passed quickly, and before we knew it, it was already five o’clock. The sun was setting, and the sky began to darken.
Lucian yawned and said, "Mason, it’s getting dark, and your guaranteed spot still hasn’t arrived? Don’t waste our precious time."
I looked at him and sneered. "The reason it’s getting dark so soon is because you guys were late. Is the funding given to you just to feed a bunch of freeloaders who only know how to indulge in pleasure?"
Lucian’s face changed instantly, and he shouted angrily, "Who are you calling a freeloader?!"
"Whoever speaks up is the one I’m referring to," I said nonchalantly.
"Alright, alright, kid, you’ve thoroughly offended me now!" roared Lucian furiously.
"Let me tell you today, even if the gods themselves arrive, you won’t be participating in this Traditional Medicine Conference!" Lucian said coldly.
Just as Lucian finished his sentence, the office door was suddenly flung open. We saw Ryker Steele walk quickly towards me.
"Mr. Raymond, why didn’t you inform me when you came to Shiglance City?" Ryker asked with a smile.
I stood up and politely replied, "Mr. Steele, I’ve just arrived."
Ryker smiled. "Alright, the Traditional Medicine Conference is about to start soon, isn’t it? Contact me when you’re done with your business."
I nodded. "Alright."
After that, Ryker took out a document from his briefcase and handed it to me.
"This is the guarantee for the Traditional Medicine Conference. You can go straight to the finals," Ryker smiled.
"Heh, here comes another big talker," Lucian sneered from the side.
Ryker frowned and turned to Lucian, asking, "What do you mean by that?"
"What do I mean?" Lucian laughed mockingly.
"I’m the president of the Traditional Medicine Association, and I haven’t heard of this guarantee. What are you talking about if not boasting?" Lucian sneered.
Ryker suddenly realized the issue and explained, "You’re the president, right? It’s like this – this guarantee is directly issued by the sponsor. Didn’t they notify you?"
"Sponsor?" Lucian was taken aback.
"Isn’t this sponsor the Ministry of Commerce?" Lucian asked with a puzzled expression.
"Yes, it’s issued by the Ministry of Commerce." Ryker took the guarantee document and handed it to Lucian.
Lucian opened it and saw the unmistakable seal of the Ministry of Commerce. His face turned extremely ugly as he held the document tightly, as if wanting to tear it to pieces!
"How is this possible!" he exclaimed.
Over the years, the Traditional Medicine Association had been funded by the Ministry of Commerce, so in a way, the Ministry of Commerce was Lucian’s superior! He could only suppress his anger, unable to lash out.
"If there’s nothing else, I’ll be going now," Ryker bid me farewell.
I nodded and said, "Thank you, Mr. Steele."
"No trouble at all," Ryker laughed. "I look forward to your good results."
After Ryker left, I glanced at Lucian and said with a faint smile, "It seems I don’t need your permission to participate, and I’ll be going straight to the finals."
Lucian gritted his teeth. "Mason, don’t be so cocky too soon. This is Shiglance City, my territory, you better watch yourself!"
I sneered, "Your territory? What are you? If you have any ability, just use it against me. But let me warn you, those who offend me usually don’t end up well."
After saying that, I left with Elder Drake, leaving Lucian angry and frustrated.
"What’s there to be proud of? Isn’t he just someone who got into the finals by using connections?"
"Exactly, when it comes to the finals, their true colors will be exposed."
"President Lucian, don’t be angry, no need to lower yourself to the level of such a small character."
Lucian didn’t say a word, but a hint of ruthlessness rose in his heart. As the president of the Traditional Medicine Association, he naturally had extensive connections. In particular, rich people who had been emptied by wine and lust, who approached these famous doctors. And Lucian’s acquaintances almost covered all walks of life.
"I’ll be waiting for you!" Lucian narrowed his eyes and muttered to himself.
Elder Drake and I returned to our residence, and along the way, Elder Drake looked quite pleased.
"Mr. Raymond, that was truly a satisfying moment!" Elder Drake said indignantly.
I smiled and said, "I just don’t know if there’s a chance to beat those old scallions."
"Absolutely no problem!" Elder Drake patted his chest confidently.
"With your skills, defeating them is not a big deal."
I shook my head. "That’s not what I meant. I’m afraid they won’t make it to the finals."
I also had some anticipation in my heart. How capable were these so-called masters?
At night, I laid on the bed with my eyes closed. Countless formulas flashed in my mind, all of which came from cultivation methods that would shock the world.
After considering my options, I finally selected a single Pill.
"If successfully refined, this Pill should easily win the championship," I thought to myself.
