Chapter 125: Chapter 125 - False Loyalty
"Mr. Raymond, I hope you don’t mind," Marshall Clive explained.
I nodded and said, "I don’t mind."
I couldn’t help but sigh internally. It seemed these wealthy individuals were quite burdened with their personal retainers.
That was because once people developed skills, they inevitably resisted serving others and struggled with following orders.
Just like Apollo Leah right now.
"It’s better to be self-sufficient," I silently reflected.
"Don’t be too nervous, everyone. Perhaps nothing will happen today," Marshall Clive waved his hand, reassuring those present.
Apollo Leah laughed loudly. "Nervous? Mr. Clive, besides excitement, I have no other feelings!"
"That’s true. With Mr. Leah here, we don’t need to be nervous either," the others remarked with smiles.
The crowd’s flattery only inflated Apollo Leah’s pride further.
He deliberately glanced in my direction, clearly wanting to show off.
Unfortunately, I was sitting there with my eyes slightly closed, looking completely out of place.
"Hmph, pretending to be a master," Apollo Leah couldn’t help but snort.
Just then, the door suddenly swung open.
The moment it opened, two men around Apollo Leah’s age entered.
As soon as they stepped into the room, my eyes snapped open!
I clearly felt that these two men’s auras were extremely powerful, nothing like Apollo Leah’s!
"Marshall Clive, long time no see," one of the men, with a scarred face, looked coldly at Marshall Clive and said.
Facing this man, Marshall Clive’s expression flashed a moment of unease, as if somewhat afraid.
Scarface took a seat opposite Marshall Clive, glanced at the others, and sneered, "What, are these people you brought to deal with me?"
"They’re all my friends. When they heard I was in trouble, they came voluntarily to help," Marshall Clive appeared to be deliberately showing off his connections.
Scarface sneered, "Marshall Clive, you’re still the same as before - always hiding something in your words."
Marshall Clive’s brow furrowed as he got straight to the point, "What brings you back here? Just say it."
"Hahaha!" Scarface burst into laughter.
"I only have two reasons for coming back to South City."
"First, to take back what belongs to me."
"Second, to take your life!"
These few words instantly made the atmosphere tense!
Marshall Clive’s face also turned a bit ugly.
He took a deep breath and said, "Times have changed, and it’s no longer the era of fighting and killing. I think it would be better this way: I give you some money, and we settle the matter."
"Settle the matter?" Scarface’s facial muscles twitched instantly.
He shouted angrily, "From the moment you left a scar on my face, I swore to kill you! You have no idea what kind of life I’ve been living abroad. For all the suffering I’ve endured, you will pay a thousand times over!"
Marshall Clive’s face darkened as he looked coldly at Scarface and said, "So there’s no room for negotiation?"
"You want to negotiate? Fine," Scarface sneered.
"Let me cut your face first, then you kneel down and beg me for mercy. Perhaps I might show you some compassion, let you go, and make you leave South City," Scarface said playfully.
Saying this, Scarface paused, then continued, "Just like you did to me back then."
"Heh."
At this moment, Apollo Leah finally spoke.
He looked at Scarface and said with a faint smile, "From the conversation between you two, I seem to understand something."
"Back then, Mr. Clive spared your life out of kindness. You should remember this kindness, not come back like a vicious dog and bite people indiscriminately," Apollo Leah said indifferently.
Scarface looked at Apollo Leah coldly and said, "And who are you? What is your place here to speak?"
"This is Mr. Apollo Leah! He is Mr. Clive’s top retainer!" someone shouted from the side.
Apollo Leah stroked his beard and smiled faintly, a proud look on his face.
"What the hell is Mr. Leah? Never heard of him before," Scarface scoffed.
"Marshall Clive, are you out of people to serve you? Did you get this old undead to make a scene?" Scarface scornfully said.
Before Marshall Clive could speak, Apollo Leah was furious and jumped up from his seat.
"You insolent brat, not knowing right from wrong! How dare you speak such nonsense!" Apollo Leah scolded angrily.
"I am a mighty Ninth rank master of internal power, only a step away from the Grandmaster Realm! You insolent brat, you should be punished for not knowing my greatness!" Apollo Leah stood with his hands behind his back, looking like a true master.
Hearing these words, Scarface couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
"A mere Ninth Rank Master dares to call himself a true master? What a joke! It’s as the saying goes, ’No tiger in the mountain, and the monkey is called king!’" Scarface said coldly.
Apollo Leah could no longer hold back. He quickly mobilized his inner strength and charged towards Scarface!
"Today, I’ll show you this insolent brat just how powerful I am!" Apollo Leah roared.
Although Apollo Leah was quite old, his speed was surprisingly fast, and his strength was even more shocking!
Even before his fist could land, a fierce wind blew!
"No wonder he’s Mr. Leah!" someone nearby couldn’t help but exclaim.
"This punch must determine the outcome!"
Everyone shouted, amazed by Apollo Leah’s strength, with shocked expressions on their faces.
However, before Apollo Leah’s fist could even touch Scarface, he was sent flying!
No one could clearly see what had happened, but Apollo Leah was already lying on the ground, spitting blood!
"So this is what it’s like to release inner strength," I thought to myself.
The scene went silent, and everyone was afraid to even breathe heavily.
"As expected, a master. I, Apollo Leah, admit defeat!" the old villain, Apollo Leah, saw the situation was bad, immediately played dead and didn’t even intend to get up.
"When you’re old, you should honestly stay home and enjoy your retirement," Scarface mocked.
Marshall Clive, however, was frightened and quickly called out, "Leah... Mr. Leah, are you okay?"
But Apollo Leah had already been scared out of his wits. He ignored Marshall Clive’s cries and even played dead while lying on the ground.
Seeing this, Marshall Clive couldn’t help but feel desperate. He quickly looked to the other retainers surrounding him and shouted, "I need everyone’s help to capture him! I, Marshall Clive, will reward you handsomely!"
But everyone just shook their heads and muttered, "Mr. Clive, it’s not that we don’t want to help, but even Mr. Leah isn’t a match for him. What can we do?"
"That’s right, going up now would be suicide..."
"Mr. Clive, why don’t you do as he says? Kneel down and apologize, let him cut your face..."
Hearing this, Marshall Clive’s face turned green with anger!
He had spent a lot of money supporting these retainers, and in this critical moment, they could say such things.
