Chapter 115: Chapter 115 - Humbling Slap

When I heard Darwin Hebert’s frown after my statement, I braced myself.

"Who are you?" Darwin asked coldly.

"I’m Mason Raymond; didn’t you already know me?" I snorted coldly.

"Mason, stop joking around. The Mason Raymond Darwin is talking about isn’t you." Violet Damon rolled her eyes.

Darwin turned his head toward Violet and asked, "Violet, who is this guy?"

Violet, with a hint of reluctance, replied, "He’s my cousin’s husband, also named Mason Raymond, but he’s just a live-in son-in-law."

When Darwin heard this, he burst into laughter.

"Kid, your Mason Raymond... I don’t even know you!" Darwin said mockingly.

"I don’t even recognize this kind of loser," Darwin added with a smirk.

I sneered. "I’d rather be me than someone who only talks big like you."

"Me? Talking big? Kid, are you asking for trouble!" Darwin immediately flew into a rage, stepping up to me!

Victor Green stepped forward, his eyes coldly fixed on Darwin.

"If you want a fight, I’ll take you on," Victor said icily.

Darwin glanced at Victor and sneered. "A cripple? What are you showing off for? I don’t bully disabled people."

"Darwin, let it go. After all, he’s my brother-in-law—don’t cause trouble," Violet quickly intervened to stop him.

Darwin glared at Violet and said coldly, "He talks to me like that—how can I just let it slide?"

Violet’s face turned pale. She immediately came over to tug my sleeve and said, "Mason, Darwin isn’t someone you can mess with! Just apologize to him quickly!"

"Apologize to him? Is he worthy of that?" I chuckled scornfully.

"Mason!" Violet’s face flushed with anger.

Darwin, his face darkened, said, "Kid, you’re ridiculously arrogant! If I don’t teach you a lesson today, then I’m not Sebastian Schroeder anymore!"

With that, Darwin clenched his fists and strode toward me.

At that moment, Violet desperately grabbed hold of Darwin.

She pleaded, "Darwin, please let this go for my sake, okay?"

Darwin’s eyes involuntarily glanced at Violet’s figure, a sly expression flickering across his face.

"Fine, I’ll give you face and won’t stoop to his level," Darwin said nonchalantly.

Violet quickly replied, "Thank you, Darwin!"

Darwin snorted and didn’t speak further.

Then, Violet hurried over to me, her face filled with frustration. She said angrily, "Mason, this is South City, not River City! You better stop stirring up trouble—or I won’t be able to face my sister!"

"Your sister and I have nothing to do with each other anymore. You don’t need to explain yourself to anyone," I said indifferently.

Violet didn’t know Lyla Lucas and I were already divorced. She thought I was just venting and waved her hand dismissively. "Whatever! I don’t care about your drama; just don’t drag me into your mess."

With that, Violet turned and walked away.

After she left, Victor couldn’t help but say, "Mr. Raymond, why didn’t you let me teach that Sebastian Schroeder a lesson?"

I smiled and said, "There’s no need to deal with someone like him."

Victor nodded reluctantly.

My gaze shifted toward the Water Dragon Cave.

I released my aura, trying to sense the heat emanating from within.

Sure enough, faint streams of spiritual energy began flowing into my body.

Although it was sparse, it confirmed that there was definitely something inside the Water Dragon Cave.

Even the heat holds traces of spiritual energy. What on Earth is in that water? I wondered to myself.

Once the competition was over, no matter what, I’d have to venture inside for a closer look.

Minute by minute, time trickled away, and I noticed the number of visitors in the vicinity growing.

Even though the Water Dragon Cave was sealed off, spectators crowded near the barrier, eager to catch a glimpse.

Soon it was past seven in the evening.

As the sky darkened, I saw lights illuminating the area surrounding the Water Dragon Cave.

Suddenly, murmurs erupted from the crowd nearby.

"The Younger Lord of the Colton Family is here!" someone shouted.

Immediately, I watched as everyone turned in the direction of the voice!

Even Violet and the others couldn’t help but look toward that direction.

"Darwin, the Younger Lord of the Colton Family is here!" Valerie Stanley reminded.

Darwin said casually, "I know. In a bit, I’ll go say hello to him and take you all inside."

"Thank you, Darwin!" Violet and Valerie exclaimed excitedly.

"But he’s not going in." At that moment, Darwin pointed toward me.

I glanced at him and smirked. "I don’t need you to take me in."

"Good," Darwin snorted coldly.

Meanwhile, I observed the Younger Lord of the Colton Family, Bernard Colton, walking toward the Water Dragon Cave, surrounded by a throng of people.

As he approached, Darwin seized the opportunity and hurried forward.

"Younger Lord Colton!" Darwin rushed to Bernard Colton’s side, bowing obsequiously.

Bernard scrutinized Darwin and frowned. "Who are you?"

"Neal Schroeder’s son, Sebastian Schroeder! We’ve had lunch together before!" Sebastian blurted eagerly.

Bernard pondered for a moment and then nodded slightly. "I vaguely remember someone like that."

From where I stood, I could see Sebastian’s face light up with pride as he glanced back at Violet and the others, as though showing off.

Sebastian continued, "Younger Lord Colton, since the Water Dragon Cave is cordoned off, it’s hard to see anything from this distance. Could you do me the favor of letting us go inside for a closer look?"

Bernard frowned slightly, then turned a cold eye toward Sebastian.

"Do you want a favor?" Bernard squinted at him and said.

As soon as he spoke, I watched as Bernard suddenly raised his hand and delivered a resounding slap across Sebastian’s face with a loud "Pa!"

"Who do you think you are, daring to ask me for a favor? Your father is nothing but a nobody to me, and you’re even less than that!" Bernard scolded derisively.

Sebastian clutched his cheek, standing there utterly humiliated.

"Get lost!" snapped one of Bernard’s attendants.

Sebastian cast an awkward glance at Bernard before scurrying away in disgrace.

I could see Violet and the others standing dumbfounded, their gaze tinged with disdain.

"Ugh, maybe my dad had some conflict with the Colton Family," Sebastian stammered, trying to justify himself.

"Conflict? Didn’t you hear clearly? He said your dad’s just a nobody," I said coolly from the side. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

Sebastian’s face flushed red again.

Infuriated and embarrassed, he spat, "So what? That still makes me way better off than a loser like you!"

I scoffed dismissively, not bothering to respond.

Just then, I noticed Bernard Colton walking over in my direction.

"The Younger Lord Colton is coming over!" Valerie exclaimed loudly.

Sebastian froze, and I could see a glimmer of hope flickering in his eyes.

"See? He’s definitely going to invite us in!" Sebastian bragged, thumping his chest.
