Chapter 114: Chapter 114 - False Acquaintance
Seeing that I didn’t speak, Violet Damon continued, "You must have been thrown out again. Did my sister even give you any money?"
I remained silent.
When I was previously living with the Lucas family, I was often thrown out by Lyla Lucas for trivial things, without getting any money.
Initially, I couldn’t understand why Lyla would get so furious over simple matters.
Only later did I realize that it was to create opportunities for her to spend time with Harvey Brown.
"Forget it, you’re pitiful. Why don’t you just join us," Violet muttered.
I glanced at her and said, "No need."
"Tsk, tsk. Are you embarrassed? If you don’t have any money, how are you going to survive? There’s no point in pretending to be strong for anyone," Violet dismissed me with a humph.
I wasn’t in the mood for a verbal spar with Violet. All my thoughts were focused on the upcoming Water Dragon Cave event.
"You’re here for Younger Lord of Colton Family’s martial arts contest, right?" Violet continued to ask.
I looked at her and nodded, "Yes."
"Tsk." Violet couldn’t help but pout.
"Why is there such a difference between those named Mason Raymond?" Violet snorted.
"Violet, is this your friend?" At this moment, a charming young man approached us from a distance.
Seeing the young man, Violet and her friends hurriedly went to greet him.
"Darwin, you came too," they shouted.
Darwin Hebert slightly nodded and said, "Yes, I can’t miss such an exciting event, and I’m friends with Younger Lord of Colton Family."
"Wow, you’re friends with Younger Lord of Colton Family?" Hearing this, Violet and the others’ eyes lit up instantly.
"Yes, we’ve known each other for many years. You could say we’re old acquaintances," Darwin replied, boasting a little.
"Wow, Darwin, you’re amazing!" Violet excitedly exclaimed.
With that, Violet grinned and said, "Darwin, the area is blocked off and we’re not allowed in. Since you’re friends with Younger Lord of Colton Family, could you take us in?"
"Yeah, Darwin, it’s too far to see anything from here!" Violet’s classmates also yelled in agreement.
At this, Darwin’s brow furrowed slightly.
I could tell that his relationship with Bernard Colton wasn’t that close. They’d probably only attended the same dinner party, and it wasn’t even certain if Bernard remembered him.
But with everyone watching, Darwin braced himself and said, "No problem, I’ll just need to greet him, since we’re friends."
"Wow, that’s amazing!" Violet and the others excitedly cheered.
I glanced at him but remained silent.
For spoilt rich kids like these, I never had any sympathy or liking.
"Ah, the contest should be starting in about an hour, right?" Violet’s classmate Valerie Stanley remarked.
"I don’t know where this Mason Raymond gets his courage to challenge Younger Lord of Colton Family."
"Yeah, truly doesn’t know his own limits."
As the group talked amongst themselves, Darwin said nonchalantly, "This Mason Raymond isn’t simple. From what I know, he comes from a great family in Capital City."
"A great family in Capital City?" At this, Violet and Valerie looked somewhat shocked.
Darwin nodded and said lightly, "Yes, it’s a very powerful family."
"No wonder he dares to challenge Younger Lord of Colton Family," Violet suddenly realized.
"Humph, what’s the use of having a powerful background? A martial arts contest isn’t about who has a stronger background," Valerie snorted.
Darwin smiled and said, "As far as I know, this Mason Raymond’s capabilities are not ordinary."
Upon hearing this, I couldn’t help but turn around and look over.
Darwin said nonchalantly, "To tell you the truth, I have a close relationship with Mason Raymond."
"Wow, Darwin, you’re so incredible! You even know Mason Raymond!" Violet’s eyes were filled with admiration as her mouth gaped open.
Darwin nodded slightly, "Yes, we’ve dined together and shared drinks."
"No one can compare to Darwin! You know so many important people!" Valerie gave him a big thumbs up.
Darwin chuckled and said, "It’s nothing, just business connections through our families, nothing worth mentioning."
Listening to Darwin boast, I couldn’t bear it any longer.
I walked up to Darwin and asked with a smile, "So you say you know Mason Raymond?"
Darwin glanced at me and said indifferently, "Of course, and he even calls me Darwin."
I sneered and said, "Then how come I don’t know you?"
