Chapter 111: Chapter 111 - Cold Retribution

Bernard Colton fixed his cold stare on his two followers and commanded, "You two go in first."

"Yes, Younger Lord." The followers nodded obediently before approaching the door.

Victor Green, completely drained of strength, couldn’t stop them. Despite his overwhelming anxiety, he remained powerless, forced to watch them pass by.

Upon reaching the door, one follower turned with a frown. "Younger Lord of Colton Family, the door is locked."

"Then break it open for me!" Bernard Colton bellowed in rage.

"Yes, Younger Lord."

Inside the room, I sat focused on refining the Pill within my body. The Qi Gathering Pill transformed at a rate far exceeding my expectations. The pill converted to qi, flowing along my dantian and striking each acupoint throughout my body.

A subtle glow enveloped me as the light gradually converged, gathering slowly at my dantian.

Minutes passed while the sound of splintering wood echoed outside the door.

Yet I remained unaware of the external commotion, completely absorbed in the refinement process.

"Buzz!"

Finally, the Pills completed their transformation! The swirling qi merged entirely with my body, ultimately forming a luminous light in my dantian region.

"Huff."

My eyes snapped open with a "whoosh!"

A sudden gust of wind circled around me! Tremendous power surged through my body, even hardening my flesh in this moment!

"Twenty-eight Qi Gathering Pills and still no breakthrough to the Foundation Establishment Stage," I muttered quietly, my brow furrowing.

I had only reached the peak of the Qi Refining Stage, standing just one step away from Foundation Establishment.

"Breaking through major levels clearly isn’t so simple," I considered silently.

Three herbs hadn’t even pushed me to Foundation Establishment. Who knew how many herbs my future cultivation path would require?

I felt pressure building.

"At least it’s faster than expected," I whispered.

What I’d thought would take three days had required only hours.

"Boom! Boom!"

The sound of the door being broken resumed at the entrance.

Bernard Colton’s angry shouts from the courtyard now reached my ears.

Having achieved the peak of Qi Refining Stage, my hearing had improved dramatically, with qi flowing through my body vast as an ocean.

"Someone’s here?" I narrowed my eyes, walked directly to the door and pushed it open.

As the door swung wide, two followers stood before me. Not far behind, Victor Green clung desperately to Bernard Colton’s thigh.

Seeing this scene, my face instantly hardened.

"Mr. Raymond..." Victor Green struggled to speak before collapsing completely unconscious, his grip finally going slack.

"Bernard Colton?" I regarded him coldly, my expression chilling.

Bernard Colton offered a faint smile. "Mr. Raymond, I specially traveled from South City to visit you. Never expected your subordinate would show such disrespect, so I took the liberty of teaching him a lesson on your behalf."

I glanced at Bernard Colton without comment.

First, I approached Victor Green, placing my hand on his chest to protect his lifeline with my qi.

Then, I raised my head and fixed Bernard Colton with an icy stare.

"What are you here for?" My tone carried unmistakable frost.

Bernard Colton remained unfazed, smiling. "Mason, I’m here to retrieve my belongings."

"Your belongings?" I couldn’t suppress a sneer. "I don’t have anything of yours here."

Bernard Colton narrowed his eyes with a laugh. "Mason, stop playing dumb. Where’s the Knotweed?"

"That’s mine. What business is it of yours?" I replied with a cold snort.

Bernard Colton’s expression hardened again.

"Mason Raymond, you’d better reconsider. Mabel Sean is no longer in River City!" Bernard Colton shouted.

"So what?" I raised my eyebrows.

"So you’d better consider the consequences!" Bernard Colton warned icily.

I studied him before responding casually, "The Knotweed’s already been consumed by me. If you want it, I can give it to you."

"You!" Hearing this, Bernard Colton’s face turned livid! 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

He quickly composed himself, taking a deep breath. "Well, Mason Raymond, I’m a reasonable man."

"Three days from now, we’ll hold a public competition in South City. If I win, you return the Knotweed. How does that sound?" Bernard Colton suggested enticingly.

Though Mabel Sean had departed River City, Bernard Colton remained cautious about taking unnecessary risks.

A public competition would leave the Sean family without grounds for complaint.

"What if you lose?" I asked.

Bernard Colton smiled slightly. "If I lose, the Knotweed remains yours, and I’ll never bother you about it again!"

"The Knotweed was mine from the start. Why would I bet my own possession? Are you delusional?" I replied coldly.

Bernard Colton’s expression shifted as anger flared instantly in his chest!

He gritted his teeth, suppressing his rage. "Then what do you propose?"

I stated firmly, "If you lose, you kneel and apologize to Victor Green, and give me a century-old King of Medicine. How about that?"

Bernard Colton’s heart leaped with joy! Without hesitation, he agreed immediately, "Fine, deal!"

He clearly didn’t take my conditions seriously.

In his mind, defeat wasn’t even a possibility!

"Good. I’ll find you in three days," I said coldly.

"Mason Raymond, I trust you’ll keep your word." Bernard Colton snorted, waving dismissively as he turned to leave.

"Wait."

I suddenly called after Bernard Colton.

Bernard Colton turned back, puzzled. "What now?"

I walked slowly toward Bernard Colton and suddenly raised my hand, delivering a powerful slap to his follower’s face!

The impact shattered the follower’s facial bones!

His face collapsed entirely as his body slid across the ground, vomiting blood!

"Newton!" The other follower rushed forward.

"Younger Lord, Newton... he’s dead!" The second follower’s face contorted with horror!

"Mason Raymond, what the fuck are you doing?" Bernard Colton roared.

I responded indifferently, "You struck my friend. I’m simply collecting some interest."

Bernard Colton’s expression turned utterly dark. He’d never encountered someone so brazen before him!

In that moment, Bernard Colton wanted nothing more than to rush forward and tear me to pieces!

"I merely taught your dog a lesson, but you killed my follower! Mason Raymond, you have a ruthless heart!" Bernard Colton snarled through clenched teeth.

I fixed Bernard Colton with a cold stare and said, "First, Victor Green is not my dog—he’s my friend."

"Second, this is just a small repayment. Three days from now, I will make you kneel before Victor Green and apologize personally!"
