Chapter 109: Chapter 109 - Spiritual Overdose
I initially thought there would be no more than twenty pills, but was completely caught off guard when the quantity surpassed my expectations.
"Twenty-eight pills, enough to support my breakthrough into the Foundation Establishment Stage," I said, clenching my fist as anticipation soared within me.
Without wasting any more time, I quickly swallowed the pills.
With over twenty Qi Gathering Pills on hand, I had no choice but to consume and refine them one by one.
I swallowed the first pill and then closed my eyes slightly, savoring the sensation as the pill began to dissolve in my body.
The pill entered my stomach and exploded like a firework!
A surge of dense spiritual energy flowed from my abdomen into my dantian, gradually spreading throughout my body.
In just two hours, the pill had completely dissolved!
Even more astonishingly, I advanced from the Fifth-Layer Qi Refining Stage directly to the Sixth Layer!
This rapid breakthrough jolted me awake, and I wasted no time, hurriedly consuming the second pill.
The second Qi Gathering Pill circulated even faster within my body, vanishing almost immediately!
But this time, my brow furrowed.
The second Qi Gathering Pill hadn’t propelled me to the Seventh Layer; not even a slight change occurred in my dantian.
I slowly opened my eyes and muttered, "Didn’t they say each pill could elevate one layer?"
Though I had long expected that the effectiveness of the Qi Gathering Pills would diminish as one’s cultivation advanced, I hadn’t anticipated its decline to be this steep as early as the Seventh Layer.
"It seems that legends and reality don’t always align," I thought to myself.
Rather than rushing to swallow the third pill, I gazed at the remaining Qi Gathering Pills, falling momentarily into deep thought.
After deliberating for a while, I took a deep breath and decided to consume all the remaining pills at once!
If I continued refining them one by one, the process would be far too time-consuming.
"Consuming multiple pills shouldn’t cause any issues," I thought to myself.
With that, I opened my mouth and began tossing the pills inside one after another.
A total of twenty-six Qi Gathering Pills—all were consumed by me in a single breath. At that moment, it felt as though my entire stomach was about to explode!
With over twenty pills simultaneously taking effect, my body began to falter under the strain!
Beads of sweat dripped down my forehead, while sharp, twisting pains radiated from my abdomen!
"Ah..." I involuntarily groaned aloud.
This pain was unlike anything I had ever experienced before. My body trembled slightly, and the vision before my eyes gradually grew dim.
"No way!" Just when I was about to faint, I gritted my teeth and forced myself to stay conscious.
I couldn’t help but think of Mabel Sean and the words she had spoken before leaving.
"I can’t fall like this," I muttered between clenched teeth. I took a deep inhale and used my formidable willpower to endure the intense pain.
The Qi Gathering Pills continued to explode within my body, releasing dense spiritual energy that surged overwhelmingly into my dantian.
I endured the pain, desperately stabilizing my mind and emotions.
Finally, after more than half an hour, my mental state began to gradually calm.
It was as if my body had grown accustomed to the pain; even my trembling movements were stabilizing.
At this moment, my entire body became enveloped in a faint green glow.
The glow wrapped around me, creating a barrier between myself and the outside world.
Spiritual energy slowly coursed through every part of my body, replacing the pain with a soothing, warm sensation—as though I were soaking in a hot spring.
I sat cross-legged in perfect stillness, my expression serene, while fusing the spiritual energy into every cell within my body.
In a mere blink, an entire day had passed.
Dusk gradually fell outside, and the sky was dotted with countless stars.
Victor Green stood at the doorway with arms crossed, coldly surveying the surroundings like a guardian angel.
At that moment, a Range Rover drove up from afar.
The car came to a smooth stop outside the villa, and soon after, a young man accompanied by two lean, wiry men stepped out.
"Wow, the environment here is pretty nice," the newcomer remarked casually. It was none other than Bernard Colton and his entourage!
He glanced at the picturesque scenery and scoffed, "This Mason Raymond sure knows how to enjoy himself."
"Yeah, River City—this little speck—seems the perfect spot for Elder Drake," one of Bernard’s subordinates joked.
Bernard didn’t respond further, his gaze fixed firmly on the villa ahead. With a wave of his hand, he declared, "Let’s go pay this Mason Raymond a visit."
Without another word, Bernard walked toward the villa with his followers.
Standing at the entrance, Victor Green quickly noticed Bernard Colton approaching.
He stepped forward immediately, blocking Bernard’s path.
"This is Mr. Raymond’s private residence. If you’re not invited, please step away," Victor said coldly.
"How dare you! Who do you think you are, talking like that to our young master?" one of Bernard’s subordinates bellowed.
Bernard waved his hand dismissively, chuckling lightly. "We must be polite, understand?"
Turning his gaze to Victor, Bernard smiled faintly and said, "I’m here to discuss matters of importance with Mason Raymond."
Victor remained stern, replying, "Apologies. Our Mr. Raymond is occupied and isn’t receiving guests at the moment. If there’s anything you’d like to say, you can tell me instead."
Bernard raised an eyebrow, smirking, "Your Mr. Raymond sure thinks highly of himself, doesn’t he?"
"Apologies," Victor replied, maintaining a polite tone but with an underlying edge of resolve. "Mr. Raymond truly cannot see anyone at the moment."
"Kid, don’t test my patience!" one of Bernard’s subordinates suddenly roared.
"Do you even know who this is? This is none other than the Younger Lord of the Colton Family from South City, Bernard Colton!"
At the mention of the name, Victor’s expression shifted slightly.
Clearly, he had heard of Bernard Colton before.
"So it’s Young Lord Colton," Victor murmured with a slight frown.
"Young Lord Colton, I sincerely apologize, but Mr. Raymond truly cannot meet you right now. Would you mind waiting for a while? Once he’s done, I’ll make sure to inform him," Victor said, bowing slightly.
Bernard raised an eyebrow, his smile becoming colder. "I traveled all the way from South City just to see him, and now you’re asking me to wait? Is this your so-called hospitality?"
Victor, slightly embarrassed, replied, "Young Lord Colton, Mr. Raymond really is occupied right now..."
"Enough with the nonsense," Bernard’s subordinate snapped in frustration.
"Step aside already, or don’t blame us for being rude!"
Victor’s face darkened instantly.
As an Inner Strength expert, Victor was well aware of the Colton Family’s reputation in South City.
He also knew deep down that he wasn’t a match for these men!
However, Mason had made it clear before entering seclusion that no one was to disturb him under any circumstances.
Steeling his resolve, Victor took a step forward.
"Young Lord Colton, I must ask you to come back another day," Victor said firmly.
