Chapter 106: Chapter 106 - Parting Promise

Exhausted from the past couple of days, I fell into a deep sleep quickly, my mind drifting into dreams almost immediately.

Shortly after I drifted off, Soren Sean’s car pulled up outside the hotel and parked near the entrance.

"Mr. Sean, Miss Sean is staying here," Roberts Joshua said with a respectful bow.

Soren Sean acknowledged him with a nod. "Take me upstairs."

"Yes, Mr. Sean." Roberts hurriedly led the way, guiding Soren directly to Mabel’s room.

Mabel had been awake for some time, having barely slept the previous night.

"Mabel, it’s time to go back," Soren said calmly.

Mabel nodded in response. "I know."

"Let’s go then," Soren said, his voice heavy with finality.

Biting her lip, Mabel rose and walked to my room, wanting to say goodbye before leaving.

I was sleeping soundly, and Mabel couldn’t bring herself to wake me.

The group stood around my bed silently for a while.

"Let’s go," Mabel murmured quietly.

"Aren’t you going to say goodbye to him?" Soren asked.

Mabel steeled herself and shook her head. "No."

"Then let’s go," Soren said, striding toward the door.

"Mabel...I like you..." I suddenly mumbled these words in my sleep.

Mabel froze mid-step, her feet rooted to the floor.

When she turned around, she realized I was only talking in my sleep.

"He’s even calling your name in his dreams," Soren sighed.

Mabel felt even worse. Biting her lip, she suddenly said, "Father, wait for me a moment."

She hurried back to her room, grabbed a pen, and began writing frantically on a piece of paper.

Mabel wrote and rewrote, making changes and crossing things out, filling an entire page with her thoughts.

But no matter what she wrote, Mabel remained unsatisfied.

"Forget it," Mabel finally tore the paper to pieces, throwing it into the trash can.

She then quickly jotted down a few words: I’m going back to Capital City; take care of yourself. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

These brief words conveyed Mabel’s most sincere feelings.

She placed the note on my bedside table and gently kissed my forehead.

"Let’s go," Mabel turned and walked away without hesitation.

In the car, Mabel’s eyes remained fixed on the direction of my room.

"Let’s go," Mabel waved her hand.

"Yes, Miss," the driver started the car.

At that moment, I suddenly woke up in bed.

I felt a sense of unease in my heart, sitting up with a foggy head.

Soon, I spotted the note left on my bedside table.

I hastily opened it, discovering the words Mabel had written.

"Miss...Miss Sean..." My face suddenly changed, as if my heart had been stabbed!

I rushed to the window and looked out.

The Sean family’s car was downstairs, about to leave.

"Mabel!" I yelled with all my might!

Afterward, I sprinted desperately down the stairs!

Unfortunately, the car had excellent soundproofing, and Mabel couldn’t hear my voice.

By the time I reached the ground floor, the car had started and was slowly driving away.

My face turned extremely ugly. I gritted my teeth and chased the car with all my strength.

"Miss Sean! Mabel!" I used all of my energy, desperately chasing the car.

In the car, Mabel’s mood was terrible.

Although they hadn’t spent much time together, I had already left an imprint in Mabel’s heart.

"Maybe in a year, this guy will really make it to Capital City," Soren comforted.

"Not maybe, definitely," Mabel’s tone was firmly determined.

"Let’s hope so," Soren nodded.

The car was speeding up, but I showed no sign of giving up.

My forehead was covered in sweat, as I chased and shouted frantically.

"Miss, there seems to be someone chasing us from behind," the driver finally noticed me desperately pursuing them through the rearview mirror.

Hearing this, Mabel hurriedly opened the car window and looked back.

"Stop the car!" Mabel exclaimed urgently.

"Miss, we..."

"I said stop the car!" Mabel shouted harshly.

The driver dared not defy Mabel’s wishes and quickly pulled over to the side of the road.

Mabel got out and walked toward me.

The mutual pursuit made me even more impulsive.

I ran up to Mabel and pulled her into my arms!

"Damn this kid!" Roberts Joshua in the car was instantly furious and was about to push the door open, but Soren Sean stopped him.

"Let them be," Soren waved dismissively.

Seeing this, Roberts could only remain silent.

I hugged Mabel tightly, tears involuntarily streaming down my face.

"Are you leaving now, why so hurried..." I said with pain in my voice.

Mabel was still the gentle and generous Mabel Sean.

She reached up to wipe my tears, smiling, "A real man doesn’t shed tears so easily."

I wiped away the tears at the corner of my eyes and said with great pain, "Can you not go?"

"I cannot," Mabel said without hesitation.

"I’ve spent enough time in River City. It’s time to return to Capital City," Mabel smiled.

"But... but I don’t want you to leave..." I said rather weakly.

Our days together had become a part that I couldn’t let go.

A day apart felt like three seasons.

That was my state of mind right then.

Mabel extended her hand, gently patted my head, and smiled softly, "If you want to see me, come to Capital City to find me."

"In a year, I’ll be waiting for you in Capital City, waiting for you to marry me."

I couldn’t hold back once again, and tears almost welled up in my eyes.

But I didn’t want Mabel to worry, and I certainly didn’t want Mabel to be disappointed, so I held back my grief.

"Definitely, I’ll go to Capital City in a year to marry you. Wait for me!" I clenched my teeth and said.

"Mabel, it’s time to go," Soren said calmly from the car.

Mabel glanced at her father, then looked at me and said, "Mason, from now on, you’ll have to rely on yourself."

"When dealing with certain people... you can’t be too soft-hearted, or else you’ll be taken advantage of, okay?"

"In a year, I’ll be waiting for you in Capital City, waiting for you to marry me."

With that, Mabel walked back toward the car without looking back.

These words echoed in my mind.

My heart felt pierced by countless needles, unbearable pain.

Just as the car was about to start, I suddenly thought of something.

I quickly shouted, "Mabel, wait!"

The car halted again.

I anxiously ran to the front of the car and took out the jade pendant, handing it to Mabel.

"Mabel, this jade pendant is a gift from me to you. You must wear it at all times!" I said with some excitement.

Mabel took the jade pendant and smiled, "Alright, I will."
