Chapter 105: Chapter 105 - Kiss Above
"Miss... Miss Sean, is that really you..." Bernard Colton stared at Mabel Sean in front of him with absolute horror in his eyes, looking as if he had a death wish!
Just yesterday he thought he’d escaped catastrophe, but today he encountered her again!
For Bernard, the humiliations of these two days far outweighed those of his entire life!
Before he could even process what was happening, he fell to his knees with a resounding "thud."
Performing such an act in the public eye was worse than death for someone like Bernard.
Mira Samuel and her companions standing nearby were completely dumbfounded, their mouths hanging open in shock.
What on earth was happening? Bernard Colton actually knelt down?
"Miss... Miss Sean, I’m sorry, I haven’t disciplined her properly..." Bernard said, keeping his head bowed low.
Mabel looked down at Bernard with cold indifference. "The Colton Family is so domineering, using a public place at will?"
"No, no, this is absolutely not the intention of our Colton family!" Bernard waved his hands frantically.
Mabel hummed softly, glanced at Mira Samuel, and stated flatly, "I don’t like that person."
"Miss Sean, rest assured, I will not let her off easily!" Bernard promised desperately.
Mabel waved her hand dismissively. "You can go now, don’t disturb us."
"Yes, yes." Bernard immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
He stood up, turned toward Mira, and raised his hand to deliver a stinging slap across her face!
"Wretched thing!" Bernard snarled through gritted teeth.
Mira was so frightened she couldn’t speak. Bernard’s attitude made it crystal clear that Mabel’s status was something the Colton Family couldn’t even compare to!
"I was wrong, Young Lord of Colton Family..." Mira whimpered softly.
Bernard didn’t say another word, just waved his hand, and his people dragged Mira into a waiting car.
Finally, the scene calmed down.
After greeting Mabel, these South City VIPs quickly scattered.
"Let’s go ride the Ferris Wheel," Mabel said with a smile.
"Okay... OK," I conceded with a wry smile.
My heart felt complicated. Every time I was with Mabel, I could feel a strong sense of helplessness washing over me.
This gap in our status and identity put tremendous pressure on me, but it also unconsciously sparked my fighting spirit.
We got our Ferris Wheel tickets and followed the staff’s instructions toward the ride.
The other tourists all stood outside, not daring to approach.
Facing someone of Mabel’s caliber, they feared being caught up in trouble over some minor mistake.
Mabel looked at the hesitant spectators outside and smiled. "You can all join, no one can use a public place at will, not even me."
Only upon hearing this did the spectators cautiously make their way toward the Ferris Wheel.
Mabel and I sat on the Ferris Wheel, quietly waiting for the machine to start.
"Shall we take a photo together?" Mabel suddenly suggested.
Of course, I had no objection; without thinking, I agreed.
Mabel held up her phone, pressing her face against mine.
Then, she made a YEAH gesture and pressed the shutter button.
"That’s not enough; we need to take more!" Mabel seemed very excited.
She held up her phone, continuously snapping photos, asking me to make some shy poses.
Even before the Ferris Wheel started moving, Mabel’s phone was already filled with dozens of selfies.
Once the Ferris Wheel began to turn, Mabel’s picture-taking pace accelerated.
At almost every angle, Mabel didn’t miss a shot. Her fun poses were just like those of any average young couple enjoying their day.
This was my first time experiencing the feeling of true love.
As the Ferris Wheel slowly rotated, it quickly reached its highest point.
At that moment, Mabel suddenly leaned in and gently kissed my cheek.
I was stunned, my face flushing crimson all the way down to my neck.
But the ecstasy within my heart made my pulse quicken wildly.
I looked at Mabel, somewhat excited and about to speak, but she put her finger to my lips.
"Legend has it that if you kiss the person you love when the Ferris Wheel reaches its highest point, you will be together forever," Mabel said with a somewhat dreamy look.
"I don’t have many chances to go to an amusement park. I don’t want to miss out." Her words seemed to carry some hidden meaning.
I looked at her, my heart pounding against my ribs, and murmured, "Miss... Miss Sean, I..."
"Do you want to keep calling me Miss Sean?" Mabel asked, blinking.
Indeed, this form of address was too formal.
I took a deep breath, plucking up my courage to give a quick peck on Mabel’s cheek.
Then, I looked tenderly into her eyes and said word by word, "Mabel, meeting you is the happiest thing in my life. I don’t want to miss you, and I will never let that happen."
At that moment, it was as if the world had stopped spinning.
As our eyes met, everything around us became merely a backdrop for our encounter.
Fortunately, people like Roberts Joshua down below couldn’t see this scene, otherwise, they would have gone absolutely mad.
For me, this day was the most unforgettable and the happiest day of my life.
Eventually, the Ferris Wheel came to a halt.
Both our faces were somewhat flushed and ruddy.
I never thought that at the tail end of my youth, I would still experience love that felt like a first romance.
Later, we rode the Carousel, Pirate Ship, and other attractions, not leaving the amusement park until nightfall.
"Today was really fun," I smiled.
Mabel blinked. "I thought so too."
Even though she said that, a touch of sadness flickered across her face.
This didn’t escape my notice, and I asked, somewhat puzzled, "What’s wrong?"
Mabel shook her head and smiled. "It’s nothing."
She did not want to ruin the sweet atmosphere, so she didn’t tell me that she was leaving for Capital City tomorrow.
It was nightfall.
The sky exuded a peaceful tranquility that was terrifyingly silent.
At this moment, Mabel and I, each in our own rooms, could not sleep.
Mabel, wearing a nightgown, leaned against the window, gazing at the distant sky.
The breeze blew across her smooth cheek, lifting her cascading black hair.
Her eyes resembled crystal-clear water, reflecting a complex mix of sorrow and joy.
I sat in my room, continuing my charm creation.
Having not slept for two days, I did not feel tired at all.
It wasn’t until dawn that the Protective Amulet was finally completed.
Inside the jade pendant, there was a hint of red.
This was my blood essence, capable of saving my life at a crucial moment.
"Phew, it’s finally over." I couldn’t help but feel a little worn out.
I glanced at the time; it was only seven in the morning. After thinking for a moment, I decided to sleep for an hour.
I set the clock for eight o’clock, fell onto the bed, and quickly drifted off to sleep.
