Chapter 100: Chapter 100: The Sinister Bernard Colton
Seeing my stubbornness, both men stayed quiet, though pity flickered in their eyes.
For me, this Knotweed meant everything. Getting it would boost my chances of reaching the Foundation Establishment Stage big time.
Once I hit Foundation Establishment, I wouldn’t fear any damn Colton Family.
"Congratulations to Mr. Raymond for winning a Knotweed plant at 10 billion!" The auctioneer yelled excitedly from the stage.
This was the auction’s main event, so once the deal closed, everything wrapped up.
People started leaving. Mabel Sean and I stood up, heading toward the backstage.
Walking past Bernard Colton, he suddenly said coldly, "Kid, you’ve got balls. Nobody’s ever dared cross our Colton Family in South City."
"Oh yeah? I’m honored to be first," I replied without caring.
Bernard sneered, "You’re begging for death. Hope you don’t regret it."
I didn’t waste more words on him. I’d handle whatever came my way.
Soon Mabel and I reached backstage.
"Wait here," Mabel said, grabbing my arm.
She ran off to call her father, Soren Sean.
The call connected and Soren laughed, "Mabel, what made you call me?"
"Dad, hurry and transfer 10 billion to my card," Mabel said.
Soren frowned on the other end, "Why do you suddenly need that much money? Everything okay?"
"Yeah, it’s urgent. Just transfer it!" Mabel hung up.
I stared, shocked.
billion sounded as casual as 10 dollars from Mabel’s mouth...
In no time, Soren sent the money to Mabel’s account.
"Let’s go," Mabel winked.
I didn’t know what to say, but I probably couldn’t repay Mabel’s kindness.
After handling the paperwork, we took our auction items and left.
"Hey, isn’t this jade pendant supposed to be mine?" Mabel blinked.
I said mysteriously, "Can’t give it to you yet. I need to handle it first."
Mabel nodded, "Okay, but do it fast."
"Huh? Why?"
"No reason."
"..."
Auctions weren’t daily events, so this location was pretty remote, surrounded by thick forests.
I took a deep breath, feeling the qi rushing toward me from everywhere, and got excited.
"South City’s really a great place," I raised my hands, looking satisfied.
"It is," Mabel agreed, smiling as she looked at my profile.
"When we’re older, let’s buy a house in South City," I joked.
"Sure, but you gotta work hard," Mabel chuckled, starting the car.
"Definitely!"
——
At that moment, Bernard sat in a car, coldly watching Mabel’s direction.
"Capital City license plate... Younger Lord of Colton Family, seems these two came from Capital City. Should we be more careful...?" The old servant frowned.
Bernard kept his face cold and said, "So what if they’re from Capital City? If I kill them, nobody can trace it to me!"
"I must have that Knotweed!" Bernard punched the car seat hard.
The old servant said nothing more.
He knew Bernard’s personality well. Once he decided something, nobody could change his mind.
——
Mabel and I drove casually, enjoying the sea breeze blowing by.
Suddenly, three cars appeared ahead, blocking our path.
My eyebrows creased, but before I could speak, a car slowly approached from behind.
"Must be Bernard," I said, narrowing my eyes.
Then I turned to Mabel and ordered, "Stay in the car and wait for me. Don’t get out no matter what, understand?"
"Yeah, I know. I trust you!" Mabel said, making little fists.
I got out of the car.
I stood in front of the vehicle, silently waiting for Bernard’s arrival.
Soon after, Bernard’s car stopped in front of me.
"Kid, I told you before, you’d regret it," Bernard said, stepping out with his servant.
I laughed, "Do I look like I regret it? Where do you see regret?"
"Sharp-tongued brat," Bernard said coldly.
"I’m giving you a chance now. Give the Knotweed back to me, then cripple your own legs, and I might let you live," Bernard said coldly.
I squinted, "The Colton Family’s really domineering. I paid for it, why should I give it to you?"
Bernard was furious, "Whatever I want is mine! Know your place!"
"The one who needs to know their place is you," my face turned cold, and I quickly boosted my energy to maximum.
"Younger Lord of Colton Family, want me to handle him?" Bernard’s servant suddenly spoke up.
Bernard lit a cigarette and said coldly, "Since he wants to die, go kill him."
"Yes, sir," the old servant nodded.
He slowly walked toward me, grinning wickedly, "Kid, I know you’ve got some skills, but compared to me, they’re nothing."
"You talk too much," I said coldly.
"Get on with it, I still need to go back and sleep."
The old servant laughed, "Ignorance knows no fear. Fine... I’ll show you what real power is!"
