Chapter 507: Chapter 507: Meeting Grandpa and Grandma

After talking with Owen Sinclair, Ashley Shaw came out to find that Claire Xavier and Cillian Xavier had already left.

Ariana Grant had gone back to school along with the Hayes siblings.

Seeing the joyful expression on Owen’s face, Warren Prescott knew their conversation had gone well.

Instead of immediately discussing Ivy Bond’s situation, he asked, "Uncle Owen, do you have any plans later? If not, how about the three of us grab a meal together?"

Owen was content with being addressed as "Uncle" and couldn’t refuse.

"Ashley and I have arranged to meet my parents."

Warren looked at Ashley Shaw.

Ashley explained, "While we were talking, they called and wanted to meet me."

Warren nodded, "Shall I give you a ride there?"

Owen shook his hand, "My assistant’s car is already on the way. I’ll drive Ashley there. You go ahead with your work, I’m sure you have a lot to handle."

Warren turned to glance at Lars Prescott standing not far away and said, "Alright."

Just then, the assistant pulled up with the car, and all three headed in that direction. Warren lagged behind a little and walked alongside Ashley, asking softly, "How did the conversation go?"

Ashley replied, "We plan to visit Mom over the weekend."

This indicated her acceptance of Owen Sinclair.

Owen’s character was indeed commendable. Plus, he had legitimate reasons for the past "betrayal," reasons Warren not only understood but had experienced himself, making him believe Owen wasn’t at fault.

It was expected that their reunion would go smoothly.

"However..."

Ashley’s tone shifted, saying, "I can acknowledge Uncle Owen, but I won’t acknowledge the older generation."

Back then, Owen was coerced by the older generation.

She could forgive Owen but not his parents—her biological grandparents.

Warren nodded, "No matter what decision you make, I support you."

Even if she refused to acknowledge Owen, he would still support her.

Being his wife, whatever decision she made was the right one.

As they spoke, they had already reached the car.

Owen held the door open for Ashley, and she turned to Warren and said, "Thank you. I know you arranged for Ms. Grant and Mrs. Bowen to come, which must have been a lot of work."

She knew that although it seemed like just calling people over, much time and effort must have gone into it behind the scenes.

Take Mrs. Bowen, for instance—a respectable lady who came even after her divorce, which must have required considerable effort or perhaps an exchange of interests from Warren.

"Thank you," she said.

Warren looked at her gently, saying, "You know, you don’t need to thank me."

Ashley moved her lips but said nothing in the end, waved her hand, and got into the car.

After the car drove away, Warren walked over to Lars Prescott, who was waiting nearby.

"Care to have a chat?" he took the initiative to say.

Lars looked at Warren, momentarily dazed.

Perhaps it was the life-and-death experience, but he felt his son had matured and become more steady than before.

No longer confrontational, but not overly warm either.

Lars managed a smile and said, "I don’t know when it happened, but you grew taller than me."

Warren looked at Lars, remembering the father who never smiled. He noticed his temples had turned gray.

Father and son eventually found a restaurant to have a meal together.

Warren began the conversation, "Have you confessed to my mom?"

Lars nodded, "I did... she... cried a lot."

But seeing his sincerity in coming forward, she ultimately decided to give him another chance.

Warren nodded, "You’ve seen what happened today — Ashley isn’t the helpless person you thought she was."

Mentioning this, Lars showed a trace of embarrassment.

"I know... I was wrong before. From now on, you can do whatever you wish. But there’s one thing I want to explain..."

"Go ahead."

"Back then, my intentions were always for your own good."

"I know." Otherwise, he wouldn’t be having this conversation.

...

On the other side, Ashley Shaw arrived at the Sinclair family’s old residence in Aethelgard.

The old residence had three floors. Though called "old," it was renovated in recent years with high-end furniture and custom designs in every room. There was also a quaint little garden attached, typical of an old western-style house.

Walking through the garden into the living room, Ashley immediately spotted the two elderly waiting at the foyer.

One had nearly lost all their hair, while the other had a fashionable haircut for someone their age but was entirely white-haired.

"Are you... Ashley?" The old man spoke first, his voice filled with joy but tinged with a little awkwardness.

Ashley nodded gently, "Hello."

The old man said, "Don’t stand at the door, come in. It’s cold now, and standing at the door could give you a cold."

Ashley glanced at Owen, and seeing his nod, she followed them inside. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

The house’s design was mainly white, with a white coffee table and sofa.

A lazy Ragdoll cat with different-colored eyes lounged on the sofa.

The old lady shooed the cat away and invited Ashley to sit down.

After taking a few sips of tea, the old lady asked about Ashley’s current situation.

Upon learning she was studying at The Medical University, she nodded approvingly, "Being a doctor is a good thing."

The old man, however, seemed less satisfied.

"Can you change majors at your school?"

Ashley looked at him as he continued, "You’re not like before now. Your dad has no other children, and our family business is vast, and someone will need to take over. Let me ask around later if you can transfer to another school to study business management."

Ashley remained silent, but Owen spoke up, "The family business is my responsibility. Ashley should do whatever she wants. Let’s not interfere."

"What do you mean not interfere? The child’s being irresponsible, and you’re following suit?"

Owen frowned, "Do you want to make her another me to be satisfied?"

"You—"

Seeing the tension rise, the old lady quickly changed the topic, "We didn’t know what you like to eat, but we heard you’re from Westcroft. We hired a chef who can cook Westcroft cuisine. Try it out, and if you don’t like it, our house chef can prepare something else."

Ashley’s face showed a polite detachment.

"I won’t stay for dinner. I heard you wanted to meet me, and since we’ve met, I won’t disturb you any further. I wish you both good health and happiness. Goodbye."

With that, she stood up and walked out.

Owen swiftly followed her.

They ignored the constant calls from the old man and lady as they walked out and got into the car, which sped off.

Ashley didn’t speak, so Owen broke the silence first.

"Your decision is right. You don’t need to interact with them in the future."
