Chapter 506: Chapter 506: Rescue
If Ashley Shaw were standing in front of her at this moment, she would definitely stab her to death!
On Rosalind Lynch’s side, she was venting her anger on the items in the room when Curtis Bowen got the news.
Instantly, he was furious—one Buddha ascended, two Buddhas were born.
What angered him most was not that his current woman was reported by his ex-wife, but that Rosalind Lynch used him as a tool to deal with Ashley Shaw!
He was merely a pawn in Rosalind’s jealousy over another man!
He had thought that, reaching middle age, he could still find true love.
Unexpectedly, it wasn’t love he found, but scheming!
Curtis Bowen sped all the way back from the company and, upon learning that Rosalind was in the bedroom, kicked the door open.
In the room, Rosalind was still venting her anger on a vase.
The vase, filled with fresh flowers, was shattered to pieces by her.
Hearing the door being kicked open, Rosalind instinctively looked towards the entrance and saw Curtis Bowen with a murderous look.
She was startled and asked guiltily, "Gus, why are you back? Weren’t you at the company?"
"What if I didn’t come back? If I didn’t return, I wouldn’t have known that in your eyes, I’m just a tool to get back at your rival! You damn well dare to use me like a gun!"
Rosalind panicked inside, ready to argue, but Curtis Bowen stepped forward and grabbed her hair, smashing her head against the wall.
Blood immediately poured down her forehead, the pain almost causing her to faint.
No one knew how long she was beaten; it lasted long enough for Rosalind to think she might die at Curtis Bowen’s hands. Then a servant rushed in to report: "Sir, there’s trouble. A group of police is outside."
Curtis Bowen paused, finally stopping his actions.
"What are they here for?"
The servant answered, "They’re here to take Miss Lynch away."
Rosalind turned pale, roughly guessing what it was about. She quickly knelt and clutched Curtis Bowen’s leg, pleading for mercy, hoping he would help her.
However, Curtis was eager for her to die immediately, so why would he help her?
He forcibly dragged her downstairs and handed her over to the police.
The police had clearly received prior orders; seeing Rosalind covered in injuries, they acted as if they hadn’t seen it and took her away directly.
Meanwhile, the press conference in Aethelgard had just ended.
Reporters had gathered enough explosive news, ready to rush back and publish their articles.
The online public opinion turned around in just an instant.
However, Owen Sinclair didn’t dare go to Ashley Shaw directly.
He approached Warren Prescott, rubbing his hands together, "Warren, you see... can you help me talk to Ashley?"
Warren Prescott shrugged, "I can’t help with this. The one who tied the bell on the tiger must untie it, Father-in-law. This time, you have to rely on yourself."
Owen Sinclair gritted his teeth.
Father-in-law! He didn’t even help at this critical moment and still dared to call him father-in-law?
Warren likely understood Owen’s expression and quickly changed his words, "How about this, I’ll take you there, say a few words to help, and then you and Ashley can have a private chat?"
Owen’s expression improved a little at this.
He first thanked Elder Prescott, the Xavier Family, and the Hayes Family, then went backstage with Warren.
Ashley’s side had been comforted a lot by Claire Xavier.
Claire was naturally suited to be an older sister, seeing many things more clearly than Ashley.
But what moved Ashley the most was the phrase: "Follow your heart."
Ashley’s heart, of course, still hoped for a true family member in this world.
And towards Owen, her heart felt admiration and respect, not disdain.
Plus, Owen had long ago shared his story with her, making it not that hard to accept.
Once a heart is torn open, the wind easily blows in.
Ashley thought she greeted Owen calmly: "Uncle Owen."
Owen awkwardly scratched his head.
"I’m sorry, Ashley... I’ve been looking for a chance to confess to you, but never found the right time. I thought this might be an opportunity... so after discussing with Warren, we decided to give you a surprise."
He dragged Warren into this mess too.
But as his father-in-law, he had to indulge him.
Warren said, "Ashley, Uncle Owen recognized you a long time ago, but he was afraid you wouldn’t accept it if the truth was suddenly revealed, so he held back until now. His intentions were sincere, and he truly wants to reunite with you."
Owen nodded repeatedly on the side, "Yes, yes, exactly..."
Seeing Owen’s nervousness, Ashley’s last bit of resentment vanished.
At any rate, even though Owen did it deliberately, he did it with the good intention of protecting her mother when he separated from her.
Now, her mother is gone; she has no right to forgive him on her mother’s behalf, but as a daughter, she has accepted Owen.
Warren noticed that Ashley’s expression had softened since she was on stage, so he took the opportunity to pull Claire Xavier out.
The two first discussed Ashley and Owen’s issue before bringing up the Bond Family.
Claire said, "After that day, I told my parents, and they just followed along, letting the two of us not have to accompany them daily."
Warren nodded and asked, "Then why do you still look so haggard?"
Claire touched her face, indeed looking thinner but glowing with energy.
"Because I’m busy with my store... I plan to open a branch in Aethelgard."
Warren raised an eyebrow, "Mind if I invest? We can make money together."
Claire smiled knowingly, seeing through him at a glance.
"How could you be interested in my little money? You know Ashley will visit often, so you want to use the ’shareholder’ status to visit the shop frequently, right?"
Warren nodded directly, "Yes, you’ve seen through me."
His direct admission startled Claire.
She looked at Warren as if seeing a stranger.
"I feel like... you’ve changed a lot since going to university."
Warren smiled thinly, "People have to grow up. Staying as shy as a kid won’t get you a wife."
Claire was taken aback again.
"Are you still the Warren I know?"
Warren replied, "Genuine and true."
Claire sighed.
"My brother Archie never really stood a chance, and now that you’ve changed... he stands even less of a chance. Seems like I’ll never have the wish of seeing Ashley becoming my sister-in-law fulfilled."
"You should have wished for something else long ago."
He paused, then asked, "And Archie? Like you, is he not going to the hospital anymore?"
Claire sighed, "You know his personality. Unlike me, he’s not as cold-hearted, and he still visits often."
Just as she was speaking, Cillian Xavier walked in hurriedly from outside.
"Sis, you have to come with me to the hospital."
Claire frowned, "Fine if she calls for you, but this time she specifically named me too?"
Cillian, with a grave expression, said, "No, Finn Bond just called, saying... his sister was brought in for emergency treatment."
