Chapter 643: Chapter 641: Heartache
Seeing Brother Yan’s expression, he must be suspecting whether she did something to him, Ming Wan thought of this possibility and immediately withdrew her hand.
Withdrawing her hand? Huh? Why did she do that?
Ming Wan was shocked, had she been holding Brother Yan the whole time before this?! Now she wouldn’t be able to clear herself even if she jumped into the Yellow River.
How could she have been holding onto Brother Yan and even got caught red-handed?
Ming Wan bitterly smiled in her heart, feeling embarrassed on the surface, she braced herself and crawled out from Yan Hui’s embrace, but just as she got halfway up, her legs went numb, and she fell again, crashing back onto Yan Hui.
"I’m sorry, I didn’t do it on purpose, my legs are numb," Ming Wan apologized with a pained expression. She really didn’t want this to happen.
Yan Hui slowly came to his senses, remembering that last night he had the porridge Ming Wan made, then had an allergic reaction. After he went into the bathroom, took off his clothes and turned on the shower, he suddenly fell and lost consciousness.
He looked up at the embarrassed Ming Wan; her hair was messy, and her clothes were in disarray, even revealing a bit in front, with many ambiguous marks on her neck, and her lips were swollen.
Without needing to think, he knew he must have done something to Ming Wan, just not sure how far it went.
He lowered his eyes and saw that both his and Ming Wan’s pants were still on, feeling a slight relief, it seemed it hadn’t gone that far.
Ming Wan saw Yan Hui avoiding her gaze, saying nothing, and showing no expression, assuming he was disgusted with her. Her heart felt aggrieved and her eyes reddened. She silently endured the pain of her numb legs and painstakingly moved herself to the side, finally managing to get off Yan Hui.
Yan Hui sat up, looking at her pitiful figure crawling silently away from him, unable to help but frown.
"I’m sorry." He didn’t know what else to say.
What? Ming Wan froze in her crawling, thinking she imagined his voice, waited some more but didn’t hear Yan Hui again, truly thinking she heard wrong. She paused for a moment, then continued to crawl out with difficulty.
"I’m sorry about last night," Yan Hui said once more.
This time, Ming Wan finally heard it, her sense of grievance instantly found an outlet, and she sat down stiffly, no longer moving.
"Brother Yan, I didn’t know you can’t eat mutton fat and ginger juice. I really didn’t mean it. I thought you had a fever, so I went to buy fever medicine. I really went out to buy medicine; it’s just placed outside. I originally wanted to see if you felt better so I could give you the medicine. Who knew when I came in, you’d fainted on the ground, and in my panic, I came over to help you. Yet... yet... you just hugged... wouldn’t let me go, I couldn’t resist you."
She couldn’t bring herself to say the detailed process; the scene was too embarrassing. Just thinking about it made her feel so awkward, she wanted to find a hole and crawl into it.
"I’m sorry." Yan Hui said again. He wanted to say: If you mind, I can take responsibility. But he stopped the words at his lips, turning them into: "Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?"
Ming Wan, with a sob, pointed at her legs that couldn’t move and said, "My legs are numb, it hurts every time I move..." Tears almost fell; she didn’t know why she felt like crying, just felt like a stone was stuck in her throat, and opening her mouth made her want to cry.
Yan Hui sat up, sighed, and said, "Wait a bit."
Then he walked out of the bathroom shirtless. Ming Wan quickly wiped her tears, looked down at her disheveled clothing, and shakily fixed her clothes and hair.
She heard sounds outside the room. Once she finished tidying herself, Yan Hui returned after a while, looking completely refreshed in new loungewear.
In a gray casual outfit, with exquisite tailoring and fine material, he transformed back into the gentleman like jade he always was.
Faced with such perfection, while she was so disheveled, Ming Wan lowered her head and said, "I’ll rest a bit longer, then leave when my legs aren’t numb. Staying here for the past few days must’ve been a bother to you..."
Before she could finish her words, she fell silent, seeing Yan Hui’s slender, well-defined hands pressing on her legs.
"Does it hurt?" Yan Hui asked slowly while massaging her legs, seeing no response from Ming Wan.
Ming Wan looked up at him. Seeing his gentle expression, she couldn’t help but murmur, "You’re giving me a massage?"
"Aren’t your legs numb? Massaging can make them recover quicker."
"Oh." Ming Wan wasn’t cheered by this; instead, she felt a bit down and said, "It doesn’t hurt, your massage doesn’t hurt, just like before." He said massaging could speed up recovery; maybe he couldn’t wait to send her away.
Seeing Ming Wan’s despondent look, Yan Hui frowned once more. Was she upset because of what he did last night?
Indeed, he was so much older than her; she was still a young girl, pure and innocent. Faced with such an experience, she’d certainly feel sad.
Yan Hui sighed lightly, but to Ming Wan’s ears, it sounded like impatience, and her pride suddenly surged, pushing Yan Hui away, she said with feigned arrogance:
"You don’t need to massage me. I’ll be fine soon. Don’t worry, I won’t cling to you here. Last night’s incident, let’s just say I owe you."
Seeing her slightly trembling back, Yan Hui felt a pang in his heart, unable to hold back, he pulled her into his embrace.
"It was my fault for making you suffer. I didn’t despise you or intend to drive you away. Here, you don’t have to be so formal with me. You can stay as long as you like, just like when you first went abroad, you can justifiably trouble me."
The words ’suffer’ released the floodgates of Ming Wan’s tears, and the subsequent words made her collapse into Yan Hui’s embrace.
"Brother Yan, you were really scary last night. I tried to push you away, but I just couldn’t... Please don’t hate me, I really didn’t mean to take advantage of you. I know you like Sister Chuchu, rest assured, in the future..."
Ming Wan’s words were suddenly silenced by Yan Hui’s hand covering her mouth. His unique crisp scent immediately filled her nostrils, and she looked up at him.
Gazing into those clear eyes staring directly at her, Yan Hui gently wiped the tears from her eyes and said:
"Last night frightened you; it won’t happen again. But it wasn’t you taking advantage of me; it was me taking advantage of you. If you want to take advantage back, I have no objections."
"And one more thing, I used to really like Wan Chu’er, but when she got married to Jiang Kechu and they had a pair of children, I only have sibling feelings for her. Don’t say such things again, it’s not good."
Like the gentle flow of a small river, his calm voice reached her ears, and Ming Wan’s mood brightened instantly. Looking at Yan Hui’s peerless face, she blinked and said, "Okay."
