Chapter 1008: Chapter 1008: Hands-On Approach

He was already trying very hard to maintain his charming smile, and it was only years of self-control that kept him going; otherwise, he would have hit someone by now.

For every detail of the engagement ceremony, for all the preparations, his boss had been meticulously strict to the point of being harsh.

If it weren’t for the loyalty built over the years, he would have walked away long ago!

"Boss, I think people should be honest and shouldn’t claim false credit." Jim Perry earnestly advised his misguided boss.

Charles Seymour nodded slightly and said, "People should indeed be honest. I was just honestly talking to Sophie Wilson a moment ago."

Jim Perry was shocked!

He was really stunned by his boss’s thick skin.

He had spoken so clearly, yet his boss remained so calm and collected... Is this why his boss is the boss while he’s just a job-holding worker? 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

Is it because he’s not thick-skinned enough?

"Boss, is my memory failing me? May I ask, what else have you done besides pick on things?" Jim Perry asked "humbly" seeking guidance.

"Critical and demanding," Charles Seymour said mildly, "I really attend to everything personally, in every detail."

Jim Perry: "..."

Isn’t it enough that he admitted defeat?

A boss in a bad mood is scary, while a boss in a good mood mocks people; how can anyone win?

In the mall, Sophie Wilson didn’t know the kind of "consequences" her phone call had caused. What puzzled her more was that Lucy Wells seemed to be taking an awfully long time to buy lipstick.

Although generally speaking, nothing should happen in a mall, but what if?

Sophie Wilson, lugging bags, went to find Lucy Wells.

At the counter, Sophie Wilson saw Lucy Wells was fine, and she breathed a sigh of relief. She slowly approached and asked with a hint of grievance, "Tell me, Lucy, are you buying lipstick or making it?"

"Sophie, why are you here? Were you getting anxious waiting?" Lucy Wells asked sheepishly, while taking Sophie Wilson’s bags and placing them on a chair. "It’s good you’re here. Help me decide between these two, which looks better?"

Sophie Wilson looked down at the two lipsticks Lucy Wells held up to her eyes. After a long look, she finally raised her head and said blankly, "I might be colorblind. These two colors look the same to me."

"These two are the same shade, actually." Lucy Wells burst out laughing at Sophie Wilson.

Sophie Wilson was exasperated and frustrated: "Then why are you asking me to choose?"

"But one of them is matte. Which do you think I should go for?" Lucy Wells asked, quite torn.

Sophie Wilson: "..."

Sophie Wilson turned her head, looked at the counter, and asked Lucy Wells, "Do you like this brand’s lipsticks?"

"Yes, their lipsticks are so pretty, the colors are just beautiful. I really want to buy them all, but..." Lucy Wells began speaking enthusiastically, her usual professional demeanor at the company completely gone.

Sophie Wilson didn’t pay Lucy Wells any mind and said to the salesperson, "Excuse me, can you please pack one of each color lipstick for me?"

Lucy Wells’s excited speech abruptly stopped. Realizing what Sophie Wilson had said, she frantically waved at the salesperson, "No, no, don’t listen to her! I’ll just take this one!"

Lucy Wells didn’t hesitate any longer and held up one of the lipsticks for the salesperson.
