Chapter 1001: Chapter 1001: A Little Embarrassed

Clarissa: "..."

She really didn’t mean it that way.

Sophie’s thoughts seemed to be on a different frequency from hers.

"Mom?" Sophie Wilson felt something odd about Clarissa Taylor’s silence on the other end of the line and couldn’t help calling out.

"Sophie, aren’t you worried about what the people at Peace Corporation might say about you behind your back?" Clarissa Taylor asked worriedly.

These kids are still too young and think too simply.

"Not at all." Sophie Wilson said indifferently, "If people in the company have something to say, they can go find another job. As for outsiders, what do they have to do with us?"

"Don’t worry, Mom, no one dares to talk about us." Sophie Wilson laughed and reassured, the way she and Charles Seymour handled things was completely different from her parents.

"Mom, you should be careful lately." Sophie Wilson reminded, "Beware of Emerie Wilson causing you trouble, maybe you should stay away from the gallery for a while."

Clarissa Taylor couldn’t help chuckling: "Sophie, your mom’s not that weak. Don’t worry about me. As long as you two are fine."

After chatting for a while, the mother and daughter hung up the phone, then Sophie Wilson flopped back down.

Hmm, feeling a bit bored.

Sophie Wilson pulled over her laptop, simultaneously pressing the intercom to have the maid bring up some snacks. She browsed online news while snacking.

Seeing the journalists questioning Old Mrs. Wilson and Emerie Wilson, even though Sophie was prepared, she almost burst out laughing.

If those journalists weren’t arranged by Charles Seymour, the sun must really rise from the west.

Would normal journalists dare to ask Old Mrs. Wilson such questions?

And how coincidental that Peace Corporation’s security had just kicked out Old Mr. Seymour and the reporters arrived?

Sigh, when I get back I must remind that guy, doing good deeds quietly without seeking credit leads nowhere!

After coming home at night, Charles Seymour looked at Sophie Wilson curiously, wondering why she kept smiling at him while they ate.

"What’s up?" Charles Seymour thought for a while but couldn’t figure out what was wrong, so he could only ask Sophie Wilson.

In the past, Charles Seymour wouldn’t ask, he would have just guessed by himself.

But now, he listens to Sophie, if there’s anything, it should be discussed openly.

"Did you intercept the company Wilson Corporation wanted to acquire?" Sophie Wilson asked.

Charles understood and nodded: "Yes."

"Why didn’t you tell me?" Sophie Wilson asked, "You do all these things for me, but don’t tell me. Isn’t it like wearing brocade clothes at night, how am I supposed to know what you did for me?"

Charles Seymour lowered his eyes, outwardly expressing himself had always been a bit difficult, but since Sophie said it, he should try to change.

So, Charles Seymour revealed his true thoughts: "These are things I want to do myself, they’re not related to you."

After hearing this, Sophie Wilson smiled and raised her eyebrows asking, "Should I rephrase it in a normal emotional way like this? I’m used to being nice to you, but there’s no need for you to know I’m nice to you, is that what you mean?"

Charles Seymour listened, and reluctantly nodded: "You could say that, but I’m not that narcissistic."

Sophie’s words were a bit too sentimental and pretentious, he felt somewhat uncomfortable listening to them.

His kindness to Sophie was indeed a habit, but he never said she couldn’t know.

Why did Sophie’s words make him feel a little embarrassed?
