Chapter 1000: Chapter 1000: This Is Outrageous

"Emerie, take care on the road." Old Mrs. Wilson saw Emerie Wilson off, and went back to the room to find Old Mrs. Wilson sitting wearily on the bed, her brow furrowed, "What on earth is going on?"

"Charles Seymour is really going too far." Old Mrs. Wilson complained angrily, "And Mason just watches him act out, can’t he step in?"

"Mason?" Mentioning Mason made Old Mrs. Wilson even more irate, "Now Mason relies on Charles Seymour for a living, do you think he’ll turn against Charles?"

"Things are different now, everything’s changed." Old Mrs. Wilson lamented, "In the past, a father was a father, and a son was a son. Nowadays, whoever has money is like the big boss, like one’s actual parent!"

"Don’t speak so poorly of Mason." Old Mrs. Wilson frowned and rebutted, "Mason isn’t like that, he’s our son. What kind of father speaks about his son like that?"

"If I don’t say it like this, how else should I say it?" Old Mrs. Wilson demanded, "I went to Peace Corporation and Charles Seymour belittled me, yet he didn’t show up. Even at the end, when I called him, it was Charles Seymour who answered."

"If he still had any regard for me as his father, he would never do this!" Old Mrs. Wilson cursed.

"That can’t be right, I don’t believe it. Mason must have his reasons, I’ll ask him." Old Mrs. Wilson refused to believe her son was ungrateful.

"Ask what?" Old Mrs. Wilson scolded, "I’m telling you, don’t call him. Let’s see if he still has me in his heart as his father. If he does, he’ll naturally call me, if not...hmph."

Old Mrs. Wilson saw Old Mrs. Wilson was truly furious, so she didn’t say much, hoping Mason would call to ask about the situation.

——

"Hello, Mom?" Sophie Wilson was still lazing in bed when she received a call from Clarissa Taylor.

"Did I wake you?" Clarissa checked the time, it was already past three. Looks like Sophie’s nap was quite long.

"No, I’ve been awake for a while, just being lazy." Sophie replied languidly, "Mom, what’s up?"

"Your dad called earlier and mentioned some things..." Clarissa explained what happened at Peace Corporation.

Sophie laughed upon hearing, "That sounds like something he’d do."

"You didn’t know?" Clarissa asked, thinking Sophie might have already known.

"No, Charles didn’t tell me." Sophie chuckled, "I guess he didn’t think it was a big deal, so he didn’t mention it."

"Hmm, when he gets back, I’ll have to talk to him, it’s really not proper." Sophie sternly criticized.

"Exactly," Clarissa agreed.

No matter how wealthy Peace Corporation is, Charles Seymour can’t be so capricious, right?

The main issue is, spending extra money just out of spite over time could make people at Peace Corporation question Charles Seymour as a boss.

If they find out all of this was for Sophie, they might even blame her.

There’s a good chance someone might call Sophie an enchanting temptress, with Charles Seymour being infatuated and foolish.

Fortunately, Sophie is rational and should remind Charles Seymour.

"He’s quietly taking a stand for me without telling me; doing things without seeking credit is really losing out. Mom, rest assured, I will certainly talk to him!"
