Chapter 15: Ch 15: Making a deal

Iris seemed to have no intention of listening to Kael. But it was not like he was out of options.

"Since you are so adamant about me leaving today, I will follow your wishes. However, since I still need your help, I have no choice but to do something drastic. You might need to address me as ’master’ the next time we meet."

Kael told Iris and she immediately flinched.

He knew that she disliked her slave status, but she was bound by her slave contract to follow the will of her master. Bringing this topic up was sure to get her attention. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

"What do you mean by that? Do you even have any idea how much my contract costs?"

Iris asked with a trembling voice and Kael shook his head.

"I don’t know how much your contract costs. But frankly, I don’t care either. I can afford it."

Kael had more than enough money. And if he did not, then he could always threaten the other side to give him what he wanted.

[Affection: -5%]

After all, no one would want to make an enemy of the youngest Grand Master.

Iris immediately paled and her mood worsened. Kael knew he was not helping his case with her, but he felt like he had no choice.

Finally, Iris made a choice and turned her gaze toward Kael and bit her lip. She made a decision and decided to ask him for a favor of her own.

"Hey kid, I don’t like you but since you seem desperate for my help, I will give you a chance. I will help you with whatever you want...as long as you bring me my contract."

Iris’s intentions were clear — she wanted to destroy the contract that made her a slave and start anew.

It was a reasonable request but Kael was not naive enough to believe Iris would help him once she was free.

She currently had negative affection and negative trust in him. So he needed to make sure he covered his bases before he helped her out.

"Hmm, that does not seem to be too difficult...however, I don’t trust you to keep your word. What if I do all the hard work and you decide to run away afterward? I cannot take that risk."

Kael told the female and Iris looked guilty.

’Ah, I knew it. She was thinking of running away as soon as she could.’

Iris finally sighed and decided to extend an olive branch.

"Fine! I get what you are saying. Will forming a temporary contract with me help you feel better?"

She asked and Kael nodded.

"We can do something better. We can take a vow instead. That way, you would be free to go as soon as the vow has been achieved."

Kael told her and Iris nodded and extended her hand toward him. Kael grasped her hand and presented his condition.

"I will help you become free and in return, I want you to train the kid under my watch until he is able to become a sword master. Do you accept it?"

Iris looked surprised at his request. But instead of questioning why he had come to her or how he knew about her abilities, she nodded.

"I accept this vow. I will try my best for you."

The vow was completed and the sign of it sank into both of their skin. The magic would make sure they both kept their word from then on.

Kael turned back and headed out. But he decided to turn around one last time to give Iris a reassuring look.

"Since I promised to help you out, I will show the results soon. So look forward to it. I have a feeling I will give you a great present this time."

Kael told her before he headed out.

He was going to try to buy her contract first. But based on his experience in his first life, he knew that it was not going to be easy.

She was a champion and half-demon. She was also well-known around these parts. And she had a nice face despite her tough body.

All in all, she was someone who made her master too much money to be sold. And that’s what happened in his first life.

"Ah, I guess I would end up doing the same thing I did in my last life. I wanted to choose a day where there are a lot of people, but I guess tomorrow will work as well."

...

"E-Excuse me, Grand Master...but what do you mean you want to buy a contract from me?"

Kael sat in front of Iris’s current ’master’. But honestly, this man was too pathetic to be called anyone’s master.

He was a young master who had grown up with everything and had never worked a day in his life. Even his estate and finances were being handled by someone else.

And yet, this man carried the lives and futures of so many people in his hands.

Kael wanted to destroy this man, but it was not something for him to do. He would make Leon do it once he was ready.

For now, he needed to focus on the present.

"You heard me, young master. I would like to buy Iris Nighrbane’s contract from you. You can name your price and I will pay it."

Kael promised and the noble looked excited. But then his butler whispered something in his ear and he regained his composure.

"I am afraid that it won’t be possible. Iris is a profitable slave that I refuse to sell. Please choose someone else."

The young master looked tempted but inflexible. Kael knew that he would not agree to it this time, and he was not going to waste his time trying to make the young master agree either.

"Ah, I see. It’s a shame to know that things are ending like this. I would like to take my leave now. I hope you do not regret this decision."

With those ominous words, Kael left the young master all alone. He was not too worried about Iris’s future because he had long planned to use his ’Plan B’ anyway.

All slave contracts were kept in the area and were secured magically. Most people wouldn’t be able to get to them.

But Kael was not like most people. He had a clear goal in his mind.

He was going to blow up the arena and with it, he would also make sure to destroy those contracts.

Iris and the other slaves deserved their freedom, and Kael would give it to them.
