Chapter 64: Livden Academy Instructor

***

The next day.

That morning, Edwin was already dressed in his formal shirt, ready to return to Livden Academy.

He had to go there again to take care of several remaining matters, one of them being the administrative process for registering as a Highborn Instructor at Livden Academy.

When he opened the door, a group of girls arrived at Sera’s residence. Edwin recognized them as Denise and the others.

They had come together with Nisya and Sebastian. This was according to Edmund’s plan, where the two of them were supposed to visit Sera’s residence to discuss his plans.

Sera stepped outside and stood beside Edwin. Edwin glanced at her and silently asked her to do something.

"What? You don’t want to tell them?" Sera whispered.

"Yes. Let them carry out this plan without being disturbed by anyone, including me."

"If that’s the case, then it looks like I can’t escort you," Sera said.

"That’s fine," Edwin replied. "I can go by myself."

Leonor came out from inside Sera’s residence and hugged Denise and the others. Sera also raised her hand and waved at Nisya and Sebastian.

Meanwhile, Edwin walked past them with a neutral expression.

Nisya did not pay much attention, but Sebastian briefly glanced at the mysterious man.

That immediately prompted Sebastian to ask Sera about the man’s identity.

Sera turned toward him and explained that the man was Edwin, an old friend of hers from the Boston Territory.

"You certainly have friends from faraway places," Sebastian remarked.

"I’m a research mage from the Gaelion Magic Institute. Naturally, I have many friends."

Sera spread her arms and invited Nisya and Sebastian inside. They both nodded.

Just before entering, Sera looked ahead and saw that Edwin had already left the residential district.

Sebastian immediately asked Sera, "Did Edmund come here?"

"Yes."

"He came to say goodbye," Sera answered.

"I see. It seems he’s living as a commoner somewhere in Ulrich City or perhaps in one of the villages outside it," Sebastian said.

"He’ll come see me if he needs anything. He’s a man who always has many plans. So there’s no need for you all to worry," Sera replied.

Sera poured wine for them, and Nisya and Sebastian accepted it.

The two of them began discussing other matters with Sera, things related to Edmund’s plans for Archester City, Archie Territory, and especially Edmund’s noble title.

The woman listened with an enthusiastic and serious expression.

She acted as though she knew nothing about Edmund’s plans, making Nisya and Sebastian completely unsuspecting.

What they did not realize was that Sera had already met and was living with Edwin.

Edwin had already explained every detail of his plans to her.

So the moment Nisya and Sebastian explained all of Edmund’s plans was simply a moment for Sera to refresh her memory about them.

Elsewhere, Edwin continued walking along the city’s main street among the other residents.

He returned to Livden Academy and noticed that the two registration booths were still there, one for Lowborn students and one for Highborn students.

However, Edwin’s attention was not focused there.

He entered the academy building and climbed to the third floor, where the instructors’ offices were located.

There, he needed to meet Head Instructor Elvan to complete the registration process for new instructors.

He walked into the third-floor corridor, where classrooms lined both sides of the hall.

Highborn students sat inside, studying diligently and seriously.

Watching them study so hard made Edwin feel nostalgic.

He had once stood in their place, spending two years as an academy student and graduating as the top student of his class.

Now, with a new face and a new identity, Edwin had returned to this floor not as a student, but as an instructor.

His gaze focused straight ahead on the instructors’ office.

Just as he reached the door and was about to knock, the office door suddenly opened.

"It seems that a man named Edwin will arrive this afternoon," the female instructor said, adjusting the name tag on her uniform that read Sasha.

Sasha froze in surprise when she saw a tall man standing before her.

His face was handsome and fair-skinned, with black comma-styled hair that matched Edwin’s serious and firm expression.

"Who are you?" Sasha asked.

"I’m... Edwin."

"Oh, so you’re Edwin."

"Head Instructor Elvan already told me about you. I’m Sasha, the Chief Highborn Instructor."

"So that makes me your direct superior after Elvan," Sasha said with a smile.

"I’m Edwin. Thank you for accepting me," Edwin replied.

Sasha smiled and invited Edwin into the room.

There were fifteen instructors in total inside the office, consisting of ten subject instructors and five class instructors.

However, because they needed more subject instructors for the Highborn division, most new recruits would be assigned as subject instructors.

"There are many things you’ll need to do. I hope you listen carefully," Sasha explained.

Edwin nodded.

Sasha informed him that he would fill the position of Basic Swordsmanship Instructor and would teach first-year students.

"If you demonstrate significant ability, I can promote you to Advanced Swordsmanship Instructor."

"Thank you for the opportunity."

They stopped beside a desk. A blue-and-white academy uniform rested on top of it along with various teaching materials.

"This is your desk. You’ll begin teaching after the entrance examinations for the new students have concluded."

"Do you have any objections?" Sasha asked.

"Not at all. I’ll prepare myself," Edwin answered.

Sasha smiled with relief. She even invited Edwin to join her and the other instructors later to observe the new students’ entrance examinations.

"You might find their abilities impressive, especially the Highborn students."

Edwin smiled and lowered his head politely.

"Of course. I’m looking forward to it."

Sasha excused herself, allowing Edwin time to get used to his workspace.

Edwin smiled as he looked at the blue-and-white uniform resting on his desk.

He never expected that he would obtain a position as an instructor at Livden Academy.

With his current position, he could watch over Clara and Leonor more easily, especially by ensuring that Jacob would never get the chance to get close to Clara.

My life as an instructor at Livden Academy... officially begins.
