Chapter 118: Chapter 117: Exhilarating Combat

The moment they clashed, the Minotaurs were cut down one after another by the unstoppable Beastman Barbarians. Their battle line inevitably began to collapse.

But then they were enveloped in red light. Their thick muscles swelled even more, and the veins on their arms bulged like coiling dragons. Tusks jutted from the corners of their mouths, their eyes turned a terrifying red, and the hot breath they exhaled was visible even in broad daylight.

They actually managed to briefly halt the Beastmen’s charge, and the two sides were once again locked in a fierce struggle.

"Frenzy Technique!"

Levi was slightly surprised.

What truly made the powers of the Wilderness wary of these Minotaurs was the Frenzy Technique that every one of them was born with.

This Bloodline Magic could greatly increase their Power and endurance, and make them forget pain.

It could be said that once they activated the Frenzy Technique, these Minotaurs would not stop their slaughter unless they completely ran out of stamina.

Although its drawback was that they would lose their minds and even be weakened for five or six days after the Magic ended, if used at the right moment, this Magic could absolutely turn the tide of a losing battle.

The Minotaurs gripped their weapons and clashed head-on with the Beastmen, the last spark of reason having vanished from their eyes.

Unfortunately, they had ultimately chosen the wrong enemy. The Beastmen, whose Power had been enhanced five times by the system, were no ordinary Beastmen.

These Beastman Warriors who had followed him from the very beginning were the toughest nuts to crack. They wielded their War Axes and Warhammers as if they were extensions of their own limbs, with astonishing Power. In every way, they were the elite of the elite, the ace of aces.

In terms of Martial Arts, they were leagues above these hick Minotaurs. Even their Power was significantly greater than that of the Berserk Minotaurs.

Facing the Minotaurs’ head-on assault, they were completely unafraid. With their Master Level Martial Arts, they could have easily toyed with these mindless brutes.

But they chose the most forceful approach, roaring as they swung their weapons to clash head-on.

CLANG!

The violent clash of metal sounded like a death wail. The Minotaurs only held for a few moments. No matter how they roared, the weapons they brought crashing down were slowly forced back up by the shorter figures before them.

SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!

Streaks of silver light flashed past.

Blood painted the sky and entrails gushed forth.

The Minotaurs’ Berserk state held the line for less than a few minutes before the Beastmen resumed their rapid advance.

The Beastmen, having automatically formed a wedge formation, were like an unstoppable giant rhino, violently goring through everything in their path.

Levi sent a Minotaur flying with a single kick. His appallingly immense strength launched the thousand-pound Giant Beast through the air like a broken sack, where it crashed into four or five of its brethren.

With its innards pulverized, the Minotaur collapsed to the ground like a pile of sludge, never to get up again.

But these Berserk Minotaurs had long since lost their minds. Facing this terrifying butcher, they still charged forward, swinging their weapons, attempting to trample him under their hooves.

The sharp blade flashed like Lightning. Most of them saw only a brilliant white light before their consciousness faded into nothingness.

"This battle... is exhilarating!"

The Lord laughed maniacally, breaking away from his position at the Arrowhead of the formation and charging straight into the most densely packed area of the Minotaur ranks.

The Barbarians were long accustomed to their boss charging into the enemy formation alone once he got his fill of killing. Zat unhesitatingly took the Lord’s place, leading the Beastmen to continue their assault on the Minotaurs.

Upward slash, downward chop, horizontal cut, spinning slash. His monstrous, Giant-like strength, combined with the cutting power of the Giant Sword specially forged by the Feder Blacksmith with an admixture of mountain copper, was utterly terrifying.

The feel of the sharp blade sinking into flesh was as crisp as slicing a watermelon. Before the Lord’s sword, these stout warriors—three blades tall and a thousand pounds in weight—were more helpless than scarecrows. Scalding blood painted the sky, and foul-smelling entrails spilled across the ground.

It wasn’t that there were no fierce characters like Chieftains among the Minotaurs, confident in their own martial prowess, who tried to stop the Lord. But for one such expert, nearly four blades tall, the result was no better. Both he and his weapon were sliced in two.

Levi soon found it difficult to advance, because the grassy ground underfoot had become a muddy morass soaked in blood. Corpses, shattered organs, and severed limbs already carpeted the earth. His killing efficiency was no different from mowing grass.

With every step Levi and the Barbarians took, dozens of Minotaurs fell one by one.

If these Minotaurs had not gone Berserk and lost their minds, even the most elite legion would have long since broken and fled in the face of such losses.

Gorgon had gone from being certain of victory at the start, waiting for the Minotaurs to deliver the final blow, to now watching them trapped in what seemed like an Eternal Hell. His face had turned a terrible, ashen gray.

This small group of Heavy Armored Infantry fought like warriors sent by the Gods, their combat prowess unimaginably high.

A contest of Power, size, and numbers.

In this small-scale melee of some two hundred against fifty, it was the side with the greatest chance of winning that was being beaten back, while the side with almost no chance of victory roared and advanced, leaving a trail of severed limbs in their wake.

It was as if this wasn’t a one-sided slaughter, but a group of children with monstrous strength gleefully beating up adults. Having more numbers was useless.

The most terrifying of all was that Giant Sword-wielding Heavy Armor Warrior. He was clearly the shortest among the Heavy Armored Infantry, like a potato thrown into a fight between pumpkins and watermelons.

Yet the weapon he used was the most absurd—it was as long as a Minotaur was tall, and the blade was so wide a young one could have used it as a bedboard.

With strength from god-knows-where, bodies were as fragile as weeds before him. A single spinning slash of his sword could permanently separate the upper and lower halves of everyone within a three-blade radius.

Even the Berserk Minotaurs on the outskirts who had luckily escaped the blow paused for a moment, actually contemplating whether they should charge in to fill that Bottomless Abyss.

And when he used an upward slash or a vertical chop, deep gashes would be torn into the very ground.

The Minotaurs had suffered a devastating blow. Their main force advancing up the hill also fell one by one before the Shield Array, unable to take another step forward.

Watching helplessly as the legion pushing up the slope suffered grievous losses and his pride-and-joy Minotaurs were being slaughtered, Gorgon’s leisurely confidence and certainty of victory had vanished without a trace.

’I bet my future on this war, this attack on the Debei Nobles. This was the first thing I’m doing for Lord Sophia to help her dominate the Wilderness. If I can’t even do this right, how can I have the face to continue fighting for my lord?’

’I am a Dragon Vein Dog-man, destined for greatness from birth. Lord Sophia’s arrival is proof of that. This place will absolutely not be my fated grave.’

Like a gambler who’d lost too much and couldn’t turn back, Gorgon was ready to bet his last chip to turn the tables.

"Everyone, with me! Prepare to provide support!"
