Chapter 47: Ch 47: Matching Hearts

Su Wanyan stepped out of the bathroom, the warm steam still clinging lightly to her skin as she finished towel-drying her hair.

The strands fell in soft, slightly tousled waves around her shoulders. She dressed in the outfit Mo Xingxue had carefully chosen: a simple brown knit sweater that hugged her frame with gentle warmth and dark cream trousers that elongated her legs with effortless elegance.

Paired with her natural and enhanced appearance from the Perfect Foundation Potion—clear skin, bright eyes, and a refined posture—the ensemble gave off a relaxed, scholarly vibe, like a gentle professor enjoying a crisp autumn day.

She glanced at herself in the mirror one last time, adjusting the sweater’s collar with a satisfied nod. It felt comfortable yet polished. With a final pat to her hair, she left the bathroom and headed downstairs to retrieve Mo Yan from PD Xu Cui.

When she arrived in the living room, the PD was still completely absorbed in playing with the baby, bouncing her gently on his knee and making exaggerated faces without any sign of fatigue. "PD," Su Wanyan called out softly.

"Huh?" PD Xu Cui startled, snapping his attention toward her as if emerging from a pleasant dream. "What’s wrong?" he asked, blinking in mild confusion, as though he had only just registered her presence.

Su Wanyan offered a wry smile. "Mo Yan has to freshen up," she reminded him gently.

"Eh?" PD Xu Cui looked genuinely surprised. "You’re already done preparing?"

"PD, it’s been 29 minutes since we left," Su Wanyan replied, her tone laced with fond amusement.

"Eh? It’s been that long?" He checked his watch, eyebrows rising in disbelief.

Su Wanyan nodded, feeling a strange sense of kinship. I get you, PD. Once you’re lost in Mo Yan’s charm, time just slips away, she thought, nodding to herself with deep understanding.

"Dress our princess nicely. She can’t lose face outside," PD Xu Cui instructed firmly, though his eyes still sparkled with affection for the baby.

Su Wanyan reassured him repeatedly that their little treasure would be the most adorable one on the outing. Only after several earnest promises did the PD reluctantly hand Mo Yan over.

As Su Wanyan walked back toward their room, she couldn’t resist looking down at the baby nestled securely in her arms. She gently pinched Mo Yan’s tiny nose, her voice heavy with doting tenderness. "Not only did you capture most of the guests’ hearts, but now you’re expanding your territory to the PDs too?"

In response, Mo Yan smiled brightly, her phoenix eyes curving into perfect crescents. Su Wanyan’s heart melted further. She returned the smile and hurried back to their room with lighter steps.

The moment they entered the bedroom, warm sunlight greeted them. Mo Xingxue had drawn the curtains open, allowing the golden autumn light to flood the space and dance across the wooden floors.

Su Wanyan opened her mouth to ask where Mo Yan’s clothes were, but the words died in her throat.

Mo Xingxue stood near the window in a rust-colored long dress that flowed gracefully with her movements, the rich hue complementing her fair skin beautifully.

A soft plaid shawl draped elegantly over her shoulders, and delicate gold leaf earrings caught the sunlight, reflecting it in gentle sparkles. Her long hair was styled in a half-bun, secured with a simple white ribbon that added an ethereal, almost poetic touch.

Su Wanyan stared, utterly mesmerized, her mouth hanging open in awe. The combination of Mo Xingxue’s refined beauty with the cool yet warm autumn breeze drifting through the window created a majestic, timeless scene—like a painting brought to life.

Mo Xingxue noticed her entrance and the stupefied expression. A teasing smile curved her lips. "If you keep your mouth hanging open like that, a fly might come in," she said lightly.

Su Wanyan snapped out of her daze, hurriedly closing her mouth as heat rushed to her cheeks. "Ahem, sorry. Where’s Mo Yan’s clothes?" she asked, smoothly attempting to change the subject while inwardly cringing at her own obvious distraction.

Mo Xingxue noticed but graciously let it slide. "It’s on her crib," she replied, pointing to a charming pumpkin-colored romper paired with soft white stockings.

Su Wanyan nodded decisively and picked up the outfit. She placed Mo Yan gently on the bed and began dressing her with careful, patient movements.

Fortunately, the baby was cooperative as always, cooing softly and waving her tiny limbs without fuss. Su Wanyan finished by slipping on the small brown baby boots, then stepped back to admire the result.

"You’re so cute!" she exclaimed, pulling out her phone to snap a few quick pictures. Mo Yan laughed delightedly, as if fully aware of the praise and basking in it.

Mo Xingxue watched the two of them with a soft, loving smile. Then, as if remembering something, she rummaged through Mo Yan’s things and pulled out a knitted bonnet. "Here," she said, handing it to Su Wanyan.

Su Wanyan placed the bonnet carefully on Mo Yan’s head. The complete look—the romper, stockings, boots, and bonnet combined with Mo Yan’s gummy smile—nearly overwhelmed her.

"Too.. too cute!" Su Wanyan dramatically clutched her heart. "Call a doctor! Tell them my heart stopped because it couldn’t take Mo Yan’s cuteness!" She flopped onto the bed beside the baby in theatrical fashion.

Mo Xingxue sighed at the antics, but her smile was full of warmth and affection. "Stop with your antics," she said, gently pulling Su Wanyan back up.

Su Wanyan laighed, but obeyed obediently. Mo Xingxue then moved toward Su Wanyan’s drawers before pausing. "Sorry, I was intruding on your privacy," she apologized, looking genuinely remorseful. "I just wanted to—"

Su Wanyan waved it off with an easy smile. "Hey, what are you being so distant for?" Her eyes held only warmth and familiarity. In her memories—rummaging through each other’s belongings had always been normal. They were childhood best friends, in fact closer than most. They were practically inseparable. "It’s fine," she reassured.

Mo Xingxue studied her earnest expression and smiled back. "Okay, but I’ll inform you next time." She continued her search while Su Wanyan turned her attention back to Mo Yan, lifting the baby’s chubby hands and blowing gentle kisses on them. Mo Yan’s delighted laughter filled the room like tiny bells.

While the two played on the bed, Mo Xingxue found what she was looking for. "Yanyan!" she exclaimed excitedly. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

Su Wanyan turned, humming in acknowledgment. Mo Xingxue beamed, holding up a glasses case. "Wear this."

Su Wanyan obliged without hesitation. She first removed her contact lenses, the world blurring slightly as she blinked. After applying eye drops to ease the discomfort, she slipped on the golden-rimmed glasses. They completed the scholarly look perfectly.

Mo Xingxue watched with quiet satisfaction, a private thought flickering through her mind: If Su Wanyan were really a professor, teachers and students would line up for her..... Too bad for them, I’m first in line, Mo Xingxue thought as she covered her smile with her hand.

"Does it look good?" Su Wanyan asked, noticing the pleased expression.

Mo Xingxue nodded. "But there’s more missing." She fetched a watch with a dark strap and handed it over, then added a leather satchel. "You can place anything inside."

Su Wanyan nodded and began packing Mo Yan’s essentials—diapers, wipes, bottles, and milk—into the satchel. "So we don’t have to carry separate bags," she explained simply when Mo Xingxue looked confused.

Mo Xingxue smiled wryly and lifted their baby, ready to head out.

(This is such a mood killer... But see what I did there? "THEIR" baby, hehehehe)

When they finally reached the living room, the rest of the group was already waiting. "Took you guys long enough," Zhao Yichen teased.

Han Jiho shot him a glare and elbowed him sharply in the stomach. Zhao Yichen yelped but wisely fell silent.

"Wow, you guys are dressed so nicely," Qin Yuran praised, standing up to circle them like a fashion critic. Su Wanyan laughed and playfully pushed her head away, though inwardly she was happy for the compliments on Mo Xingxue’s styling.

Song Meiyu observed them thoughtfully. "I noticed this yesterday, but.. you guys keep wearing matching clothes, no?"

Su Wanyan and Mo Xingxue nodded without hesitation. It was quite obvious, after all.

"Un," Su Wanyan said proudly, tilting her chin up. "Mo Xingxue dresses us up."

The live chat erupted:

[And here I thought it was just fate.]

[It is fate. And the fates’ name is "Mo Xingxue," heh.]

[AH!!!!! SO CUTE!!]

[I KNEW THAT THE THREE OF THEM WAS MATCHING, BUT I DIDN’T KNOW IT WAS MO XINGXUE STYLING THEM!]

[Mo Xingxue got good taste, fr.]

[Clothing-wise or spouse-wise (Su Wanyan)?]

[Of course, both.]

[Ha.. oh how I wish my husband was like this.]

[Me too, whenever I want to match clothes with him and our kids, he would always say it’s childish.]

[Mine too, my wife would even outright say it was embarrassing.]

"Why are you acting so high and mighty? It was Mo Xingxue who did all the work," Zhao Yichen teased, earning another, harder elbow from Han Jiho.

"Did you not study?" Han Jiho asked sharply. "Did you not learn the poem verse ’The joy of a married alpha is not found in being served, but in watching their omega thrive’?"

"Sorry, I forgot about that," Zhao Yichen muttered, rubbing his side.

Su Wanyan laughed. "That’s a really good saying, no? A pity that it doesn’t apply to us as we’re only best friends," she added lightly.

The temperature in the room seemed to drop instantly. Han Jiho and the others looked at her as if she were utterly clueless. Even Mo Xingxue gave her a strange, unreadable glance.

Did I say something wrong again? Su Wanyan wondered. Thinking quickly, she joked, "I meant it doesn’t apply to us yet, ’cause we’re still just best friends."

The chill thawed as quickly as it had arrived. "You should’ve said so. We almost thought you were a block of wood," Qin Yuran laughed.

Su Wanyan chuckled along, though a bit awkwardly. Well, as long as the atmosphere is back, she thought with relief.

Not everyone was pleased, however. Gu Chengze’s jaw tightened as he glared at Su Wanyan with barely contained fury. How dare this inferior alpha take claim over her! The sight of their matching outfits had already irritated him, but this pushed him further.

Meanwhile, Lin Xuanyu nervously bit his fingernail. Not good... How am I going to use her if she’s already got a target? He had planned to leverage Su Wanyan to win Gu Chengze faster. Then, as if struck by inspiration, he relaxed. I just have to seduce her, right? Lin Xuanyu thought, as a scheming glint entered his eyes.
