Chapter 825: Chapter 493: The Pope’s Wisdom! (Bonus Chapter)

Abuzan strode into the old Church in the city, high-spirited and full of vigor.

This small city called Yilin had, a few years ago, been luckily breached by that rabble of mud-legs, and since then had no longer received the blessing of the great Master of Thunder.

But today, Abuzan had taken this city back without lifting a finger.

And in Abuzan’s future plans, this would not be the last city to be taken back.

The Twilight Legion’s attack on Elm City was a wrong choice, and he was going to make those mud-legs pay for that reckless decision.

"Great Lord! You’ve finally come to save us!"

A group of people in noble attire respectfully prostrated at Abuzan’s feet.

Behind them stood a crowd of commoners, their faces full of terror and hatred.

Abuzan snorted coldly in his heart. There really was a reason the Twilight Legion had been able to hold this place.

But he did not care what these commoners thought, just as humans never care what insects think.

Abuzan waved his hand, motioning for the kneeling nobles to get up.

During the period under the Twilight Legion’s rule, they had lived with extreme difficulty, having to remain constantly lowly, and selflessly dedicate their wealth in order to barely survive the wrath of these furious citizens.

All these years, they had been waiting every moment for the descent of Celestial Soldiers, to save them from this fire and water and restore them to their former status.

Abuzan had given them this chance.

In the name of the Master of Thunder, he restored all of their titles.

In that instant, Abuzan saw a certain ferocity in these nobles’ eyes; the way they looked at the commoners behind them was filled with cruelty and malice.

Abuzan was very familiar with this expression. The fate of these commoners from now on would likely not be very good.

But so what? This world was originally one where the weak are meat and the strong do the eating, a world where the strong are always strong.

If they had to blame someone, they could only blame their ancestors for not working hard enough to become nobles and clerics.

Abuzan did not stay long in this small city of Yilin; the hollowed-out South Roland to the rear still had a large number of cities waiting to be taken back by him.

The night before Abuzan left, Yilin’s acting City Lord came to him, a noble who was said to have some connection with a certain Count family in Roland City.

The reason he came to seek out Abuzan was also very simple.

"The crops in the fields have ripened. We lack tools to harvest them."

Abuzan had already guessed their intentions, since it wasn’t even the season for crops to ripen.

However, the reason they gave was very well-packaged.

"I want one-third of the harvest." Abuzan raised a finger.

The asking price seemed a bit high, but the acting City Lord still accepted.

The next day, Abuzan’s troops moved out, leaving behind a groundful of old weapons. These weapons had originally been used to behead enemies, but used to harvest crops, they might also be extremely handy and sharp.

"Your Excellency Bishop, a message has arrived from the Pope’s side." Just as Abuzan was on his way toward the next city, the commendation decree from the Pope arrived as well.

"Oh?" Abuzan’s eyes lit up. "What did the Pope say?"

He was a devoted supporter of Pope Adoma.

The Church of the Master of Thunder should be the Dominator of this world; every enemy blocking the Church’s path would be mercilessly crushed.

His aspiration was to make the Church of the Master of Thunder great once more.

"Well done! Abuzan."

His subordinate reported the original wording.

Abuzan was slightly stunned; he had truly never seen a commendation decree like this.

["Well done! That Abuzan!"]

When Shen Sui opened the Dueling Device, Alice was jumping with rage. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

Judging by how furious she looked, if she weren’t currently on her way to Sun City, she’d probably have gone there in person to take Abuzan’s dog head.

[Alice has sensed your arrival.]

Since Alice had already noticed him, Shen Sui simply appeared and asked her what was going on.

["The Church of the Master of Thunder took advantage of South Roland being empty, crossed the Demon Beast Forest, and captured Yilin," Alice said darkly.]

[This matter was indeed Alice’s oversight.]

[She had imagined everything far too ideally, never considering that someone within the Church of the Master of Thunder would dare mobilize troops without so much as a word of greeting.]

[She had clearly issued an order for all Thunder Knight Orders bordering South Roland to hold their ground, and the reason she gave was perfectly righteous: the Thunder Church was preparing to go to war with the Daylight Church, and it was not appropriate to fight on two fronts at this time.]

[But now that Abuzan had suddenly produced results, although Alice was very displeased, as the Pope of the Master of Thunder she certainly could not blame Abuzan over this matter; she even had to properly reward him.]

[However, what truly enraged Alice was not Abuzan’s shameless sneak attack.]

[Just moments ago, several Substitute Puppets in her ring had suddenly broken.]

[If this was not Alice suffering some nameless assault herself, then it could only mean that the Guardian Arrays she had set up in other cities had been triggered, and she had become the one to bear death in place of the residents those arrays protected.]

[Alice quickly determined the cause of the Substitute Puppets’ destruction; this damage came from Yilin City.]

[For that many of Alice’s Substitute Puppets to be destroyed at once, it meant that at least more than half of Yilin City’s residents had died.]

["Bastard! I’m going to kill him!" Alice said furiously.]

[Although, because of the Guardian Arrays, those dead residents would be resurrected at a time of Alice’s choosing—since it was she who had borne their real deaths in their stead—that did not mean what had happened was any less vile.]
