Chapter 2908: Chapter 2438

She had nothing to do with Annie Lawrence.

But on second thought, she held back her words.

Considering Annie’s current condition, Benjamin must be heartbroken. It’s best not to dwell on trivial matters.

There’s no point in arguing with someone who’s dying.

Joanna Lawrence entered the hospital room, arm in arm with Ashton Heath.

The air was filled with the smell of disinfectant, slightly irritating. Joanna walked to the hospital bed, stopped, and looked down at the ghostly pale Annie Lawrence.

Annie’s face was drained of color, but the moment she locked eyes with Joanna, a strong hatred burst forth from within her. The hatred was so intense that even Ashton Heath, standing beside Joanna, could feel it.

Ashton tightened his arm around Joanna’s waist, subconsciously pulling her closer to him.

It was a defensive move.

Watching this scene, Annie’s heart felt as if it had been brutally stabbed, causing immense discomfort throughout her body.

This pain was far worse than when David Benington stabbed her.

Ha, was Ashton afraid that she would do something to that bitch Joanna?

Was he being so protective of her?

Did he care about that bitch Joanna so much?

’Joanna Lawrence, I’m here.’ Joanna and Annie looked at each other for a few seconds before Joanna spoke calmly, "Dad said you insisted on seeing me, so I’m here. If you have anything to say to me, you can say it now."

Annie’s resentful gaze fell upon Ashton’s hand around Joanna’s waist, staring intently for a while before finally retracting her gaze, filled with anger.

Her eyes had lost most of their luster.

But when she looked at Joanna, there was a light in her eyes, refracted from the deep hatred within.

"Joanna Lawrence, you... you finally came." Saying these words was difficult for her, as if each uttered syllable was depleting her life.

Yet, even so,

She gritted her teeth with every word she spoke.

It was evident just how deep her hatred for Joanna was.

"Yes, I’m here." Joanna naturally felt the intense hatred, but her gaze towards Annie remained indifferent and calm, "So if you have anything to say, you can say it now."

"What do I want to say? Don’t you know?" Annie struggled to form a smile, "Now, do you feel... very happy, seeing me like this? Don’t you feel... relieved?"

Joanna’s expression was blank, "What does it have to do with me how you feel? Why would I be happy? Why would I feel relieved?"

"Of course, because... you... hate me!" Annie gasped for breath between words, "Stop pretending, haven’t you always wished for me to die? When I die, you’ll certainly be happy."

"Whether you die or not, it’s not my concern." Joanna replied coldly, "Why should I care about your life and death? You’re nobody to me. Would you care about a stranger’s life and death? I guess you wouldn’t."

"A stranger?" Annie was taken aback.

"What else do you think our relationship is?" Joanna asked back.

"Ha, hahaha..." Annie paused for a moment before breaking into laughter, gasping for breath at the same time, "You’re right, we’re strangers. No, not strangers. We should be considered enemies."

Joanna lowered her gaze at her, "I never saw you as an enemy."

If she were an enemy, then Joanna would have hated her.

But Joanna had long stopped caring about Annie.

To her, Annie Lawrence was just an insignificant stranger.
