Chapter 798: Pei Mansion
Bowing to He Jingtai, the servant asked, "Eldest Young Master, what are your instructions?"
"Go and gather the workers and servants," He Jingtai ordered calmly.
"Yes, Eldest Young Master."
Receiving the order, the servant hurried off to call the others.
While He Jingtai distributed the New Year gifts, Feng Xiyan escorted Bai Hanyun back to the Great General’s mansion before returning to the barracks to deal with the delayed military affairs.
As everyone busied themselves preparing for the New Year, time flew by in the blink of an eye.
On New Year’s Eve, Feng Xiyan and Bai Hanyun planned to return to the Modern World after giving the Feng Army soldiers, the shadow guards, and the workers a week-long holiday.
In the Great General’s Mansion, Bai Hanyun and Feng Xiyan stood in the main courtyard garden.
Looking at Feng Xiyan, Bai Hanyun asked, "Xiyan, did you bring the gifts with you?"
Feng Xiyan nodded and replied, "Yes."
After receiving his answer, Bai Hanyun took out the portable space and time portal. Holding it in her hand, she used her spiritual sense to open it.
A few seconds later, a swirling black portal appeared in front of them.
Reaching out to hold Feng Xiyan’s hand, Bai Hanyun said, "Let’s go."
With that, the two of them stepped into the space and time portal. The moment they disappeared into it, the portal vanished without a trace.
Appearing once again in the backyard of her house, Bai Hanyun checked the time on her phone and said, "We only have two hours before our flight to Shang Du City. We should hurry."
There was no airport in Fu Cheng Town, so they first needed to travel to Fu Rong City, which would take at least an hour by high-speed train.
Nodding at her words, Feng Xiyan replied, "Alright."
After the space and time portal disappeared, Bai Hanyun and Feng Xiyan left for the train station.
By the time they arrived in Shang Du City, the sun was already high overhead.
Walking out of the airport arrival gate, Bai Hanyun looked around and saw Zu Wu waiting there. Waving at him, she called out, "Assistant Zu."
Hearing someone call his name, Zu Wu scanned the area and spotted Bai Hanyun in the distance. Smiling, he greeted respectfully, "Eldest Young Lady, Young Master Feng."
Feng Xiyan nodded in response, while Bai Hanyun asked, "Have you been waiting long?"
Zu Wu smiled, took the small suitcase from her hand, and replied, "I just arrived. Let’s return to the Pei Mansion first. CEO Pei has been waiting for your arrival for days."
Hearing this, Bai Hanyun chuckled. "Alright."
Following Zu Wu, the two of them got into his sports car. After fastening their seat belts, Zu Wu started the engine and drove away.
Three hours later, Zu Wu’s sports car passed through the entrance of the Pei Mansion.
Looking at the grand estate and vast grounds before her, Bai Hanyun commented, "This mansion is huge."
Hearing this, Zu Wu explained, "The Pei Mansion covers more than one hundred hectares, including the natural lake and mountain behind it."
When Bai Hanyun heard this, she thought, ’My father really is wealthy. I wonder who is wealthier between him and Brother Gui.’
After driving for another half an hour, Zu Wu finally parked in front of the mansion’s main entrance.
Before Bai Hanyun could open the door, a servant stepped forward and opened it for her. Bowing slightly, he greeted her, "Eldest Young Lady."
"Hello," Bai Hanyun replied with a nod before waiting for Feng Xiyan.
Handing the car keys to one of the waiting servants, Zu Wu gestured toward a middle-aged man and introduced him to Bai Hanyun and Feng Xiyan.
"Eldest Young Lady, Young Master Feng, this is the steward of the mansion, Uncle Hu."
Hu Tai smiled and bowed slightly to Bai Hanyun and Feng Xiyan.
"Welcome home, Eldest Young Lady, Young Master Feng. The master has been waiting for both of you inside. Please come with me."
Smiling at him, Bai Hanyun replied, "Hello, Uncle Hu. Then we will trouble you to lead the way."
"Eldest Young Lady is too polite. This is my duty," Hu Tai responded before leading the way to the living room.
Sitting on a single sofa in the luxurious and spacious living room, Pei Jianyuan was reading the news on his tablet. When he heard footsteps approaching, he looked up.
The moment he saw Bai Hanyun, the coldness in his expression melted away. Putting down the tablet on the low table in front of him, he stood up and walked toward his daughter.
"Hanyun, you are finally here."
Smiling at her father, Bai Hanyun stepped forward to hug him. "Father, how have you been?"
Pei Jianyuan led her to sit down on the sofa, then held her hands and replied with a smile, "Father is fine. You must be tired after the long journey."
Turning to Hu Tai, he instructed, "Uncle Hu, go and tell the kitchen to prepare lunch."
"Yes, Master."
After Hu Tai left to inform the chefs, Pei Jianyuan looked at Feng Xiyan. Seeing him sitting quietly across from him, he said, "Uncle has prepared a room for you. You can stay here with peace of mind."
Feng Xiyan nodded, then gestured toward the bags and boxes placed on the low table. "Uncle Pei, these are some gifts from me. I hope you won’t dislike them."
Looking at the antique boxes, Pei Jianyuan thought, ’This son-in-law of mine really knows how to please me.’
Satisfied with Feng Xiyan’s thoughtfulness, Pei Jianyuan replied, "It is enough that you came to visit. There was no need to bring gifts."
Although he said that, Feng Xiyan did not dare agree. He simply nodded and replied, "Yes, Uncle."
Just then, Hu Tai returned and said, "Master, lunch is ready."
Hearing this, Pei Jianyuan stood up and said, "You two must be hungry. Let’s eat first, then you can go and rest."
After saying that, he led the way to the dining room, followed by Bai Hanyun and Feng Xiyan.
