Chapter 411: Chapter 410: Campus Under Attack
"What’s real or fake?"
Lv Qingyan blurted out instinctively, blinking as his gaze wandered between Lv Bai and Pu Xueli.
Often, kids might better sense the atmosphere. Even before Pu Xueli could explain, Lv Qingyan wisely pushed the door open and left, "Alright, big brother, I’m going out to play first."
He quickly exited and even thoughtfully shut the door behind him, making things much easier.
However, Pu Xueli was in no mood to praise the little brat, skipping over pleasantries and directly stepping in front of Lv Bai, lowering his voice to ask, "Do you know when the Monan People will act?"
Lv Bai still lay on the sofa, not getting up, merely shaking his head.
Perhaps sensing Principal Pu’s disappointment, Lv Bai added, "I’ve already disclosed all the information I know. There’s no need for me to hide anything, right?"
Pu Xueli chuckled bitterly, "The mess you caused this time is really quite serious. Even the Field Department of our Death Battle Campus has been mobilized, entering a full-time Level 3 alert state."
In name, these Field Departments of the Death Battle Campus belong to the official violent agency of the shelter, yet most of the time, the armed forces with an official background in the shelter overflow, not needing these Death Battle Campus personnel at all.
Bear in mind, even during the large-scale protest of tens of thousands leading to bloodshed, these Field Departments weren’t mobilized; a few armed troops sufficed to suppress the protesting crowd.
Strictly speaking, the Field Department of the Death Battle Campus is even considered part of the redundant City Council system, akin to funding to keep those with supernatural abilities in check, letting them remain settled.
But now, the City Council only complains that there’s not enough armed power, mobilizing regardless of its effectiveness.
"Isn’t it great? Everyone in the Field Department feels too idle with nothing to do," Lv Bai chuckled.
He attended the entire meeting, knowing the City Council system top to bottom was mobilized, all personnel’s holidays canceled to face the impending crisis.
Pu Xueli sighed deeply, "That’s what worries me. We’ve never rehearsed for this nor considered confronting the Monan People, and I fear mistakes might occur when the time comes..."
Hearing this, Lv Bai directly interrupted Pu Xueli’s following words.
"Principal Pu, the Field Department consists of formal Death Fighters, elites that escaped countless near-death situations. Even if mistakes happen, I am confident they can compensate for them themselves."
He said seriously, "In the collision between two civilizations, casualties are inevitable."
Indeed, this crisis can be attributed to Lv Bai triggering it.
Yet this war between civilizations was bound to happen sooner or later; hiding one’s head in the sand like an ostrich doesn’t work.
The Monan People have already come knocking; conflicts would ensue even if Lv Bai hadn’t visited the surface.
Better to resolve this now; humans aren’t prepared for war, and it’s likely the Monan People aren’t either.
It might sound a bit self-praising, but from Lv Bai’s perspective, the outcome of this war needn’t be overly pessimistic.
After all, humanity has him.
Beep~ Beep~ Beep~
Principal Pu wanted to say something more, but his communication device inconveniently rang.
He picked it up and glanced at the message, his expression dramatically changing.
Lv Bai furrowed his brow, "What’s wrong?"
Pu Xueli’s expression was as grim as if he had swallowed a dead fly, "The campus has been attacked."
"Which campus?" Lv Bai asked instinctively.
Pu Xueli responded while moving towards the door.
"All campuses in the Underground City have been attacked."
...
Zudian Campus, at the entrance.
Boom~
A man wearing a dark blue coat withdrew his arm from a student’s chest, pulling out large amounts of blood and internal organ fragments, scattering them on the ground.
Using the student’s clothes to wipe his blood-stained hand, he tossed the student’s corpse into a nearby flowerbed like throwing a rag.
Having done all this, the man in the dark blue coat turned his head to his accomplice standing on the other side of the gate, asking a bit excitedly, "Got a cigarette? Give me one."
His accomplice, a middle-aged man dressed like a programmer, was bald and wore glasses. If not for the two near-cold student corpses at his feet, he would look painfully ordinary, like a passerby.
"Quit a long time ago; my wife doesn’t like me smoking."
The middle-aged man spat at the corpse by his feet, "Buy some after this is over."
Dark blue coat man: "Almost done, right? Once the people inside come out, let’s head out."
The attack on Zudian Campus by Can Society members naturally involved more than just these two.
In fact, looking inside from the gate, one could notice bodies lying everywhere along the way, the scent of blood permeating the air—utter devastation is not an exaggeration.
It’s not that these Can Society members attacking were overwhelmingly strong.
Primarily, the true martial strength of each Death Battle Campus—Field Departments—had all been summoned to the City Council’s side.
Left in the campuses are students, serving as reserve Death Fighters, and being reserves also means these students have never undergone a Death Fight.
They stand little chance against these experienced, formally empowered Death Fighters.
In short, Can Society’s timing for this operation was almost too perfect.
"No rush, I bet those City Council dogs just received the news. By the time they come to aid the campus, we’ll be long gone."
The middle-aged man said dismissively.
In essence, his thinking wasn’t incorrect.
Can Society went all out this time, spreading across the major Death Battle Campuses, their numbers were far from insignificant.
If they didn’t gather their forces, a few rapid responders would not change much, merely adding a couple of names to the casualty list.
The man in the dark blue coat grinned hearing this, prepared to echo the sentiment.
But his voice caught in his throat.
In his line of sight appeared a black cavity about two meters in diameter stretching from an unknown distance to the gate.
The darkness dissipated, revealing two silhouettes within.
"Ugh~"
Pu Xueli immediately dropped to his knees, hands propping him up, vomiting in a mess.
"Seems I’ve arrived quite swiftly," Lv Bai nodded toward the two at the gate.
[All Ink] paired with [Strike in the Dark] allowed rapid travel to the scene.
Yet the experience for the person being transported wasn’t exactly pleasant.
