Chapter 898: Chapter 898: Mark Takes On Another Mission (Part 2)

He looked at Arnold and asked aloud, "Arnold, why are you here?"

Arnold looked at these comrades she had fought alongside countless times and expressed her desire, saying, "Boss, I want to join you in this mission."

After speaking, she lowered her head in defeat, "But Elder Moore refused to let me rejoin no matter what..."

Mark looked at Arnold and gently held her tiny face in his hands, "Arnold, listen to the superior, this mission is very dangerous, don’t participate."

Arnold felt reluctant inside, "But..."

"There’s no ’but’ about it." Mark interrupted Arnold, looked at her, and promised, "Stay here and wait for me. When I return, we will get married."

As he spoke, Mark handed over all of the farewell letters to Arnold, "You take care of these, but rest assured, as long as I’m here, none of them will have the chance to be opened."

Arnold’s dark eyes were filled with tears.

She looked at Mark and nodded heavily, "Alright."

This "alright" was a promise to Mark that she would marry him when he returned.

It also served as a reassurance to Mark that she would safeguard these letters, believing in his capabilities, that none would ever need to be opened.

Mark smiled, gently pinched Arnold’s cheek, "Be good, wait here for me."

Arnold nodded heavily, "I will!"

"Arnold, don’t worry, we will keep an eye on the boss for you!" The squad members jeered loudly.

Arnold looked at the jeering crowd, her face instantly turned red.

Mark laughed, "Feeling shy now?"

Then Mark looked at his squad members, "Arnold is sensitive, you all better be ready to rein it in!"

As soon as Mark said this, the jeering grew louder.

"Boss, already starting to protect?"

"Boss, we haven’t even tasted your and Arnold’s wedding candy yet!"

On the desolate hill by the sea in G City, serial killer Wilmer hid in a small wooden cabin.

The reason for choosing this location was that it’s a barren hill, usually with no visitors, convenient for Wilmer’s actions and escape.

Moreover, there’s a naturally formed cave on this hill.

The cave is not large, its entrance cleverly concealed by green plants growing outside.

Wilmer knew of this place because it was his secret base in earlier years.

Wilmer had evaded enemies here before, and now he believed he could similarly elude capture by the police.

At this moment, deep inside the cave, a woman bloodied all over, with no unmarred flesh on her body, was suspended on a sharp, protruding rock.

This woman was none other than the female cop held hostage by Wilmer.

Next to this female cop stood a tall, gloomy-faced man.

Undoubtedly, this person was the serial killer Wilmer, who had shocked M Country.

Currently, Wilmer held a blood-stained, sharp dagger at his mouth, lightly licking it.

The blood’s taste on the dagger stimulated Wilmer’s nerves.

He was like a vampire, his eyes bright and greedy, not missing a single drop as he licked the dagger clean.

It wasn’t until he saw the dagger cleaned like new that Wilmer was satisfied.

Wilmer laid down the dagger, eyes raised to the suspended female officer, his face terrifying like Satan’s, displaying a calm yet fearsome smile, "You’re about to die."

The blood from the female officer’s body dripped down drop by drop.

Her face was pale as paper, breath weak, yet she stubbornly looked at Wilmer, resolutely saying, "No, I won’t die, I’ll be rescued!"

"Ha!" Wilmer mocked with laughter.

He raised the dagger in his hand and stabbed it at a non-vital spot on the female officer’s body, "Those fools are just like you, easy to deceive and can’t save you."

With that, Wilmer slowly pulled the dagger from the female officer, then repeated the action of licking the blood off the dagger.

Facing this maniac, the female officer only felt a chill down her spine.

After capturing her, the maniac brought her here.

He hung her inside the dark cave, occasionally stabbing her, yet never at vital spots...

He kept her alive, intending to consume her blood.

Strangely though, he never drank her blood directly, even though that would yield more.

He opted to consume only the measly blood from the dagger.

It seemed he found her dirty, or perhaps it was a form of entertainment for him.

The female officer suppressed the fear rising from deep within.

She looked at Wilmer, weakly asking, "If you like drinking blood so much, why not be straightforward? The blood from my body is more plentiful and satisfying, isn’t it?"

"You’re too dirty!" Wilmer replied calmly, then added, "But your blood is delicious!"

Just as Wilmer tortured the female officer, who might die from blood loss at any moment, Mark led his squad to G City.

Upon entering G City, Mark immediately went to the Major Crimes Unit.

Here, Mark retrieved all already investigated information related to Wilmer.

Wilmer, male, currently 32 years old.

Wilmer’s mother was an orphan and a dancer, she had Wilmer out of wedlock and married when Wilmer was five.

When Wilmer was ten, his stepfather died accidentally due to drunkenness.

Given the record of misuse and abuse by his stepfather on Wilmer’s mother and Wilmer, the police once suspected Wilmer’s stepfather didn’t die by accident, but by the hand of Wilmer’s mother.

However, due to lack of evidence, the suspicion remained just that.

At eighteen, Wilmer enlisted in the army and quickly excelled, becoming a squad leader.

But at twenty-two, he was advised to leave the army due to poor leadership.

Later, through Mark’s investigation, it was understood that during a raid on drug traffickers, Wilmer’s aggressive approach led to deaths of traffickers and injuries among teammates.

After being advised to leave the army, Wilmer returned to G City, living with his wife and mother.

Everything was calm afterward.

However, at twenty-five, an accident occurred: a drunk driver killed Wilmer’s wife.
