Chapter 895: Chapter 895: Marcus Is a Clever Little Rascal
Hearing Mark’s serious words, the warmth that had just faded on Arnold’s cheeks returned.
She nodded, blushing, "I got it."
Half an hour later, with Arnold’s help, Mark made a rather hearty dinner.
Mark and Arnold carried the dishes to the table one by one, while Marcus sensibly brought over the bowls and chopsticks, and the three of them sat down at the dining table.
They chatted and laughed, eating in such a harmonious atmosphere that they seemed like a family of three.
After dinner, Arnold volunteered to wash the dishes.
Mark didn’t refuse, just looked at Arnold indulgently and walked into the kitchen with her.
"Boss, you don’t have to come over, I can handle it," Arnold said confidently while putting the dishes into the sink.
"Little fox, didn’t I tell you?" Mark approached Arnold, wrapping his arm around her waist from behind, "I’m not your boss now, I’m your boyfriend!"
With a clang, the dish in Arnold’s hand fell into the sink, splashing water everywhere.
Seeing the splashes on Mark’s handsome face, Arnold immediately turned around and raised her hand to wipe them off, "I’m sorry, boss, I..."
She stopped mid-sentence.
Because she realized that her wiping only made Mark’s face wetter.
"Sorry for what?" Mark pressed closer to Arnold, his face full of water droplets moving towards hers, "Are you sorry for your prank?"
Arnold’s waist kept moving backward, "I, I wasn’t pranking, I was just..."
Mark tightened his arm around Arnold’s slender waist, "Don’t lean back anymore, even though your waist strength is impressive, if you keep doing this, not only your hair, but you yourself might end up washed in the sink."
Arnold belatedly realized that her movement might indeed lead to her long hair soaking into the sink.
"Boss, let me go, I’ll clean up..." Arnold said, trying to push Mark.
Yet Mark didn’t budge, keeping her firmly in his grasp.
His handsome face, still covered with water droplets, was close to Arnold’s flushed face.
His captivating, dangerous eyes looked at Arnold, asking in a deep voice, "Are you sorry?"
Arnold nodded weakly, apologizing softly, "I’m sorry, boss, I..."
Mark moved his face even closer to Arnold’s, the danger in his eyes deepening, "So, you still don’t know what you’re sorry for?"
Arnold looked blank.
She really didn’t know what she did wrong!
Wasn’t it because she splashed the boss with water and then clumsily made his face even messier?
Mark reached out and gently scraped Arnold’s nose, "Is this still the sly little fox I know?"
Then, Mark looked at Arnold seriously, speaking dominantly and indisputably, "Remember, don’t call me boss anymore!"
Arnold asked weakly, "Then what should I call you?"
Mark’s face was dark, asking dangerously, "What do you think?"
Arnold looked at Mark’s expression, tentatively trying, "Laurant Foster?"
Mark’s face didn’t improve at all, instead, it darkened further.
Arnold instinctively swallowed and tried again, "Laurant?"
Mark smiled satisfied, pecking lightly at Arnold’s red lips, then indulgently said, "Good girl..."
After speaking, Mark released Arnold from his grasp.
He stepped back, helping Arnold stand straight, then smiled gently and said, "Go accompany Marcus, I’ll handle things here."
Arnold nodded and escaped the kitchen as if fleeing.
Once she was far from Mark, in the living room, Arnold immediately checked her hair.
Seeing her hair still as clean as before with no trace of water, Arnold realized belatedly that she had been tricked by the boss again!
However, Arnold wasn’t angry at all, instead, she showed a sweet smile.
Seeing Arnold’s flushed cheeks and happy smile, Marcus, sitting on the sofa watching TV, asked, "Auntie, did dad tease you again?"
Arnold: "..."
Are kids this smart nowadays?
"I knew it," Marcus declared decisively, then looked at Arnold and said wisely, "Auntie, you need to get used to Daddy teasing you, and you must tease him back..."
Arnold sat down next to Marcus, her face red.
She looked at Marcus and chuckled, asking, "Little smarty, who did you learn all this from?"
"The TV!" Marcus replied, switching channels to show Arnold, "Auntie, this show is super sweet, it has lots of teasing tricks."
Arnold looked at Marcus in disbelief, "Marcus, don’t tell Auntie you usually watch these at home!"
"No, I just stumble upon them occasionally," Marcus answered, then spoke determinedly, "I prefer watching military programs, I want to be a great soldier like Dad in the future!"
Arnold reached out to ruffle Marcus’s head, "Good boy..."
Mark drove Arnold home that evening.
On the way back, Arnold looked at Mark driving and asked, "Boss, have you contacted Marcus’s dad yet?"
Mark looked at Arnold, "What did you call me?"
Arnold: "I’m used to it."
Mark: "Then slowly change that habit."
Arnold softly said "Oh," then looked at Mark and asked again, "Laurant, have you contacted Marcus’s dad yet?"
Mark’s lips curled slightly, satisfied, "I haven’t been able to contact him yet, so it’s uncertain if something has happened."
"Oh." Arnold nodded, looking at Mark, "Boss, Marcus is already three, should we send him to school first?"
Mark had considered this issue as well.
Now that Arnold brought it up, he shared his thoughts, "I have thought about this too. We don’t know when we’ll find Marcus’s biological father, and I’m busy with work, so I can’t always leave Marcus alone at home. Plus, he’s already three, it’s time for him to start school."
"I’m planning to find a decent boarding school for him, where he can learn and be well cared for."
After saying this, Mark looked at Arnold and added, "If we never find Marcus’s father, or if he refuses to accept Marcus, I’m considering adopting him."
As soon as Mark finished speaking, Arnold agreed, "That’s great, Marcus is such a good boy."
