Chapter 878: Chapter 878: Arnold Needs a Corneal Transplant
"Chief, you don’t need to worry too much." Mullen said reassuringly, then looked at Sebastian Moore and explained Arnold’s specific condition, "Although the little princess has multiple injuries, none are too severe. I have already removed the necrotic tissue, cleaned her wounds, and applied medication."
"As for the little princess’s digestive system, it has ulcerated due to prolonged malnutrition... this can be adjusted, it’s not a big problem."
"But I found signs of poisoning in the little princess’s eyes, and the toxins have already damaged her cornea, which means that in order to regain vision, a new cornea must be replaced."
Sebastian Moore staggered a bit, never expecting that his Monica’s eyes were injured, and so severely at that.
But when he first found Monica, she could clearly see, couldn’t she?
Thinking of this, Sebastian voiced the doubts in his heart immediately.
After listening to what Sebastian said and inquiring in detail about the situation then, Mullen said knowingly: "Chief, the little princess’s eyes really can’t see anymore. But what you mentioned earlier isn’t impossible, I think the little princess might have used some medicine that temporarily restored her vision, perhaps."
Sebastian felt heartbroken.
He looked at Mullen and asked, "So Monica has to have a corneal transplant?"
Mullen nodded, "Yes, Chief."
After saying this, Mullen added: "But finding a suitable cornea is difficult, it requires matching..."
Upon learning all of Arnold’s conditions, Sebastian’s heart felt as if it was being cut apart by a knife.
He felt deep sorrow for his daughter and decided immediately to send Arnold to S Country for treatment so she could regain her sight as soon as possible.
Because S Country has the world’s largest matching database, they can find a suitable cornea from around the world in the quickest time.
That afternoon, Arnold, still unconscious, was sent to S Country, accompanied by the divine doctor Mullen.
As Arnold was leaving, Mark was undergoing emergency rescue in the operating room, and Silas, who later escorted Alice Sutton back, had just arrived at the entrance of Mark’s ward.
Two days later, Arnold woke up in a hospital in S Country.
Opening her eyes to the pitch-black world, Arnold wasn’t the least bit flustered or confused and merely asked softly, "Is anyone here?"
Mullen looked at Arnold, "Little Princess, you’re awake?"
Following the direction of the voice, Arnold looked toward Mullen, "Who are you?"
Mullen smiled gently and introduced himself, "Little Princess, I am your accompanying doctor, Mullen."
"Oh." Arnold nodded and looked at Mullen, "Where’s our leader? How is he now? Has he woken up?"
"Is the princess referring to Major General Laurant Foster?" Mullen asked.
"Yes." Arnold looked at Mullen, asking again, "How is he now?"
Before leaving M Country on the plane, Mullen heard the confidential secretary mentioning Laurant Foster’s situation to Sebastian, so he had some idea.
"Don’t worry, Princess. I heard that Major General Laurant Foster doesn’t have major issues." Mullen continued, "Before you left, Major General was already out of the operating room, and I heard that he just needs proper recuperation later on."
"Hmm." Arnold felt relieved, then looked towards Mullen’s direction and asked, "My eyes can’t see now? Can they be healed?"
Mullen told Arnold her actual condition without any concealment.
After hearing Mullen’s explanation, Arnold asked quite calmly, "Before, my eyes could see, couldn’t they? How did the cornea get damaged?"
Mullen was also very curious about this.
But those who could know about this matter were only Arnold, Mark, and the criminal they brought back, and all these people were unconscious earlier.
Now hearing Arnold mention it, Mullen asked immediately, "Dare I ask, Princess, was there any herb used in the forest earlier that allowed you to temporarily regain sight?"
Arnold nodded, saying three words, "Ghost-seeing Grass."
"That explains it." Mullen nodded understandingly, immediately explaining the properties of Ghost-seeing Grass.
After finishing, Mullen further explained, "The reason your eyes could see before was because of the help of Ghost-seeing Grass. But Ghost-seeing Grass provides only temporary relief, and its toxicity would manifest after its effect wore off."
"Hmm." Arnold nodded, not too surprised.
Regarding Ghost-seeing Grass’s temporary relief and the fact that it could momentarily restore vision, Alice Sutton had already mentioned that when they were in the forest.
But since Ghost-seeing Grass works, what about the antidote Alice Sutton had?
Thinking this way, Arnold turned to Mullen and asked, "Alice Sutton said he had an antidote that could let my eyes see again, so does that mean if I get the antidote, my eyes would regain sight?"
Mullen shook his head and revealed a cruel fact, "No, it won’t work. Maybe in the bandit’s hand who harmed the princess’s eyes, there indeed is medicine to restore vision, but now it’s too late."
"Or rather, from the moment the princess used Ghost-seeing Grass to temporarily suppress the toxicity, it was already too late."
After saying that, Mullen further explained, "Ghost-seeing Grass, as the name suggests, even allows ghosts to see. It can temporarily suppress all toxicity, allowing the injured eyes to see temporarily. But once used, the toxins it suppresses explode at an equally astounding rate."
"So, now even with an antidote, it won’t help my eyes?" Arnold asked, looking towards Mullen calmly.
Mullen nodded, "That’s right, Princess. By the time you returned to M Country, the toxin in your eyes was already deep, and the corneas were thoroughly damaged."
After saying this, Mullen continued, "Although later, I have already cleared the toxins from the princess’s eyes, it cannot restore your vision. Now, if the princess wants to see again, a new cornea must be replaced."
Arnold nodded, "Alright, I understand."
After waking up in S Country, Arnold stayed in the hospital in S Country, receiving follow-up treatment for her severely injured body and conditioning her digestive system while awaiting a suitable cornea.
In the blink of an eye, more than half a month passed by.
After more than half a month’s treatment and recuperation, Arnold’s body had returned to a healthy state, but since a suitable cornea hadn’t been found, she still couldn’t see.
Having waited so long for a suitable cornea and having stayed too long in S Country, Arnold wanted to return to M Country.
But as soon as Arnold expressed her thoughts, Sebastian emphatically refused, insisting that Arnold must have her eyes treated here before returning.
Arnold resisted, but after ultimately achieving nothing, she accepted her situation.
