Chapter 2913: 2913. The Core
Walker spent over six hours resting and meditating. He still could feel like he was in a haze trying to handle the pressure of moving an entire wind elemental plane with him. He also couldn’t use his mind to dig in to it after he had used spatial mana and other manas to seal it tightly. He even felt that he was trying to do something when he was ill.
As a child it was never uncommon to catch a cold or some sort of sickness. That was the same for every single race no matter what. Illness was just inevitable as people grew.
As some got stronger that possibility disappeared almost entirely. But right now, Walker felt like he had weakened himself and was reliving the worst flu he had ever had. It was the best way for him to describe the feeling he was having to Remey and Su.
Both were obviously worried about this. They knew all too well that when Walker figured out how to do what they had come here to do that it might take a lot out of him. But right now they were sure he had gone a bit over his head to achieve what he needed to do.
"I gained two skills though." Walker had enough focus to explain to them the skills he gained though, that was a good starting point as they had just started allowing more mana and the rest of the wind nutrient potions to be used on the trees nearby.
It was enough to help the hidden breeze butterflies and their nesting trees. However, this was still not something that the three could walk away from. They needed to see the manas finish balancing in the area along with the sprouts and saplings recover enough so that there was no backlash to harm the hidden breeze butterfly race.
The moving butterflies also flapped around not fully hiding themselves saying words of thanks while checking on the eggs and newly hatching caterpillars that would eventually gain intelligence just like them upon finishing their metamorphosis in just a few hours.
The three had effectively made themselves sheroes that were already recorded in history since many of the hidden breeze butterfly race members would be born and die within the hours and day that they were here. It was strange to consider it generational history when their lifespans were so short.
It also allowed them a first row seat as to why this race developed so well and were so helpful to the literal will of the wind elemental plane.
Those butterflies who disappeared and reappeared were sharing information about dangerous areas and the borders of the wind elemental plane. They had moved through their hidden slipstreams of wind and been moving incredible distances. Proof that they were one core aspect of the wind elemental plane that allowed the wind king, the embodiment of the will of wind here, to see everything within the entire place without additional stress.
"The sealing skill I have uses space mana and the mana within the elemental plane to lock it up. It’s like closing a door. It could be broken if I do not store it away by something outside of it, which is why I have a feeling that some beings have to guard certain elemental planes while they develop. Some origin race members most likely have stronger sealing skills and don’t need those. But we already saw this happening."
Since they had met some powerful beings that were guarding the smaller elemental apnea, Walker, Su, and Remey could expect that this was all very true. The dangerous monsters and plants, or even environments within those elemental planes needed guarding so that the seals wouldn’t be broken from the outside and release dangerous things outside of them.
It would already be a tragedy to lose an elemental plane that formed from the chaotic flow of outer manas. But if those escaped things destroyed other elemental planes waiting to become part of all the elemental planes? That would be much worse.
"The other skill allows me to transport elemental planes. I can store them like I do with my multi dimensional storage skill, but I can’t interact with them. I can’t look at them, I can’t change the flow of mana within, and I definitely can’t make a core or anything like a dungeon. The skill just allows me to transport sealed elemental planes. So if I want to experiment or change things, then I need to release that skill."
Basically, they all recognized that Walker would need to change where they were to somewhere safer if he wished to change anything.
"But won’t the elemental plane fuse with the space wherever it is? How do you bring it somewhere without space?"
"Remey sounds right, but it seems impossible to me that anywhere would not have space or manas that would be negatively influenced."
With the two of the same mind, Walker slowly breathed and considered it. He felt like he was trying to look through a closed window sprayed with mist. The sun was clearly on the other side but he was still unable to get sight of the grass and garden out there too.
"I think I would need a skill that isolates an area. Keep it from changing until I have finished modifying whatever I am working on. The world can condense manas and the dungeons can naturally form. So, there might be a way for that to happen. The spaces are condensed...?"
All three had similar thoughts now.
They had all learned the weight of condensed manas would make rune formations break. It could enhance skills. Or it could nourish plants better if it was the right condensed mana. It could even help awaken bloodlines from ancient times for some of the demi-human race.
Therefore, condensing space seemed possible, but was it really simple? Not at all.
"That would mean I need to condense the space while not hammering whatever is inside. It would be just like a storage space but the storage would be held within- held within the core of the dungeon!"
Now Walker felt like he was foolish. They had all looked at the dungeons and their entrances like they were seeing something that was allowing them in to a separate space outside of the world and the elemental planes. But if that was the case then they would be in an unknown separate place that could be accessed by powerful space mages.
Dungeons couldn’t be accessed like that. If they could then there would be a lot more mages and people experimenting or researching capable of making and controlling dungeons. So far there was not a single person capable of doing so that anyone knew of.
This meant that if the space was isolated within the dungeon core, the ideas that it was somewhat alive and had rules because of the mana it needed to form and exist, then it was partially sentient. Like an elemental spirit following the will of the world or the natural instinct to develop the same ways that an elemental spirit would grow.
If a dungeon was like that, then there might be better paths to study them related to that form of thinking. Using spirit and mentality rather than research and pure logic. The echidna race might have a better chance at it since they naturally focus on natural mana and the balance of nature in their core beliefs and values.
Regardless, Walker also saw that having an isolated space like a spatial storage but only for what the dungeon was as a whole would perfectly allow it to have its rules and absorb specific manas. They would be affinities in perfect balances instead of just being a type of dungeon.
It would make the dungeon cores that formed and the dungeons that could absorb areas and manas and even elemental planes the real focus of all of this. The doors were like bridges to the dungeons’ storage space, similar to the elemental planes and bridges to the elemental planes.
There was also the fact that the dungeon core could be considered like a golem naturally formed. It was not really sentient in the same ways as a race unless it was from very specific elemental planes and became a race.
But that thinking, that the dungeon core was like a shell of what could be an intelligent will like the elemental kings, well, it opened some new possibilities.
Walker ranted about all of this, yawning and pausing a bit too much, but Remey and Su began to grasp what he was thinking and how they could proceed.
Walker could find someone or he himself could begin delving in to the process in which the dungeon cores formed. For that, they needed to handle the current elemental plane and get it somewhere safe so he could fully focus on the next steps.
