Chapter 1824: Chapter 1820: I Want to Protect Him

Just as Ye Fan mistook two women for his beloved and wanted to take his relationship with them further, in a corner of the celestial city, Sang Yuan was secretly observing everything.

Sang Yuan felt very curious as to why Ye Fan was eager to be with Li Zhaojun, who had never taken further steps with him.

"What does the young master intend to do?" Sang Yuan wanted to go over and find out, but she stopped herself, knowing that Ye Fan didn’t want to be disturbed right now; Ye Fan was enjoying himself, and her presence would purely spoil his fun.

As Sang Yuan struggled internally, a figure appeared before her, none other than Xi He.

Xi He was also the woman Sang Yuan feared the most, because she had certain prejudices against her; Xi He had often told her to mind her own business. Given Xi He’s outstanding position among ancient cultivators, Sang Yuan understood she was not qualified to challenge her at all, and Xi He could easily kill her.

Xi He didn’t kill her partly due to consideration for Ye Fan’s identity, as they both served Ye Fan. Moreover, Xi He would show some respect to the goddess Xuan Nu, who created Sang Yuan, as Xi He had special feelings for Xuan Nu, which fostered some compassion toward those around her.

"What are you doing here? Did the master ask you to stay here and watch the fun?" Xi He scolded Sang Yuan upon seeing her standing idly.

Sang Yuan sized up Xi He and said, "The Young Master’s arrangements seem unrelated to you, don’t you think?"

Facing Xi He, Sang Yuan tried to be more authoritative, but unfortunately she was like a paper tiger, posing no threat to Xi He. Her cultivation level was not even comparable to those in the immortal realm, let alone to Xi He, a cultivator of ancient prowess.

"The master is doing something important right now, and you are lingering here—it seems you harbor disloyalty towards him," Xi He said. "But since you’ve helped the master before, I won’t argue with you. Leave immediately, or else I’ll kill you. Believe me?"

"You!" Sang Yuan glared at Xi He, wanting to speak but afraid Xi He would really act. She knew that Xi He wouldn’t scare her without reason.

Finally, Sang Yuan threw her sleeves angrily, saying, "Since the young master didn’t arrange for you to be here, you came on your own. Don’t say I didn’t warn you... I’m leaving, let’s see what you will boast about then!"

Hurling her words, Sang Yuan turned and left, while Xi He remained within the celestial city, still observing Ye Fan’s actions.

Sang Yuan could not investigate what Ye Fan was doing, but Xi He could. Xi He’s cultivation was far superior to Sang Yuan’s, and with her abilities, she could avoid Ye Fan’s scrutiny if she wanted to. Xi He looked toward the celestial city’s deliberation hall, puzzled: "Strange, why is there a strong aura of an ancient cultivator beside the master? What does this aura signify? Could it be Nuwa or another ancient power arriving? But by the master’s side are only the mistress and Min Shang..."

Xi He still couldn’t unravel the mystery in her heart, as she couldn’t investigate further for fear of being reprimanded by Ye Fan, which would impact her status beside him.

Despite wanting to probe deeper, Xi He chose to hold back, preferring to stay and wait for developments before investigating further. Meanwhile, she kept her eyes on the celestial city’s deliberation hall, prepared to prevent anyone from harming Ye Fan.

...

...

Within the second-tier secret realm, inside the dwelling of Lu Xiaoman and Mo Xiaoyan.

Lu Xiaoman felt a surge of unease in her heart. Initially, she tried to calm down and cultivate but found herself struggling; she sensed a powerful pressure bearing down on her inner mind, making her feel very threatened.

"Why is this happening?" Lu Xiaoman opened her eyes, still able to foresee some danger approaching her and Ye Fan.

At that moment, Mo Xiaoyan walked out and said, "Sister, what’s wrong? You’ve just had your cultivation enhanced by brother-in-law, it’s normal to feel a bit uneasy. Look at me, I’ve stopped cultivating. We’ve been cultivating for ten years or so, and it’s not as effective as when brother-in-law comes to help boost it once. What’s the point of exerting ourselves?"

Normally, Lu Xiaoman would reprimand Mo Xiaoyan for being lazy, get angry with her, or even scold her. But this time, Lu Xiaoman had no intention of reprimanding her and said, "Xiaoyan, you know, I seem to be seeing things... I don’t know what they are, but they seem destined to happen; Ye Fan is in danger..."

Mo Xiaoyan looked at Lu Xiaoman skeptically and replied, "Sister, what nonsense are you talking about? Brother-in-law in danger? He isn’t even with you now. You’re worrying for nothing, aren’t you? Or maybe you could try contacting brother-in-law? Is that possible for you?"

To Mo Xiaoyan, her sister’s words were baffling; she thought that her sister might have lost touch with reality, suddenly talking as if she were a prophet.

"Ordinary power can’t seem to harm your brother-in-law, but I sense it’s from within his proximity," Lu Xiaoman continued anxiously, "Though I don’t understand why I have these ideas, I can feel the seriousness of the problem. Xiaoyan, do you have any means to contact your brother-in-law?"

Mo Xiaoyan shrugged and said, "Sister, stop looking for trouble. Consider how long brother-in-law has been out without missing you? Now you’re saying he’s in danger—what’s your evidence? I don’t see any danger for him, and you’re worrying unnecessarily!"

"Xiaoyan, he is your brother-in-law!" Lu Xiaoman said, a touch angry at Mo Xiaoyan’s indifference.

"Even if he’s my brother-in-law, I’ll say this: he does not pay enough attention to us; I can barely complain about him? Sister is always thinking about him, seemingly willing to do anything for him without considering how he treats us—thinking that his helping us elevate our cultivation is a good deed to enjoy, that ensures our worship. Hmm, I think he’s a bad guy, a bad guy who stole your heart!" Mo Xiaoyan refused to believe any danger would befall Ye Fan. When annoyed, she would lash out at Ye Fan because she was a willful girl who didn’t consider consequences.

Lu Xiaoman sighed lightly: "I only hope this is just my false intuition, yet I don’t know why, but this feeling within me is so strong. Am I worrying for nothing? Impossible, Ye Fan is definitely in danger. I need to think of a way to reach him; only then can I protect him..."
