Chapter 753: Chapter 712: Tesla
Since the current situation has been discussed quite thoroughly, it’s time to set off after this meal.
Though it’s a different world, Su Ming still quite likes this ancient courtyard and the hustle and bustle coming from the alley outside the gate.
However, the travel plans still need to be put on hold; the primary goal is to see what the Holy Shield intends to do, and hopefully, it’s not about the Celestial God Fetus.
Most of the roast duck was eaten by Su Ming and Strangulation, and Zheng Xian didn’t eat much; most of the baijiu he ordered was drank by him.
"Director Zheng, you drank three jins of Maotai, are you really alright?" Su Ming asked while watching Zheng Xian pull out some cash and put it on the table, patting his pants as he stood up.
It’s not that he’s worried about Zheng Xian getting a gastric perforation, but rather if he can still fight in this state.
Zheng Xian maintained the same smile, like a smiling face mask glued to his face without moving.
"I am a Warrior tested by alcohol; three jins of baijiu is just to moisten my throat. But for this affair, I can only go as an individual, I cannot bring others along."
Su Ming nodded. Currently, the situation on the other side remains unclear. Bringing more people along would only escalate the matter.
Typically, matters involving underground organizations are resolved in the shadows. Even if a war breaks out, it wouldn’t shake the earth like The Avengers.
Assassination, conspiracy, scheming, politics – these are the methods they excel at.
Su Ming actually knew in the beginning that even if Zheng Xian intended to join, it would only be him alone. The Celestial Dynasty has agreements with other countries, and the relevant departments wouldn’t engage in foreign secret affairs. Others can forget about meddling in the Celestial Dynasty’s matters.
Zheng Xian acting alone can be considered personal action; if he were to bring others, it would change the nature of it.
In any case, as long as he holds the Holy Spear, the seniority and prestige are there, and Su Ming just needs to act appropriately.
"Director Zheng is so forthright. How about you go fetch your weapons first while I wait here?" Su Ming casually picked up a large radio in the room, tuned it to a broadcast station and started listening to a musical program.
"It seems you’ve had plans for me for quite a while..." Zheng Xian continued to smile, pinching his chin and pondering for a few seconds: "That’s true, they see the East as a traitor; I should indeed bring some protective equipment, hehe."
After saying that, he raised his hand and clapped, and suddenly a person walked in from outside the door, holding a cane-like object wrapped in white cloth, resembling sugarcane.
It turns out he was already prepared, and their conversation should have been monitored. Though the Celestial Dynasty’s current technology is ordinary, they have plenty of mutants in the relevant departments.
"Alright, I asked the owner to fry the duck rack; we can come back and have a few more drinks tonight." Zheng Xian took the long cloth bundle, shouldered it, and indicated it was time to depart.
"What are Director Zheng’s capabilities?" Su Ming stood up, glanced at the team that appeared in the courtyard without much concern: "Since we’re acting together, it’s necessary to understand each other’s abilities a little."
"As for me, I consider myself to have some martial arts foundation; just an ordinary person, hehe."
Zheng Xian walked to the front door and made a gesture of invitation.
"Our abilities seem somewhat redundant; I too am just an ordinary person who knows a bit of combat." Su Ming smiled and nodded, walking out of the room and breathing in the winter air of the Imperial Capital.
Cold air with a hint of ancientness.
The warm breath slowly dissipated into the air, and the people in the courtyard all fixed their gaze on him. He did not speak with them, though he recognized a few, he simply quietly waited for Zheng Xian to come out.
"Don’t look at me, I’m just over a hundred jins. I’m accompanying you this time to reclaim the opportunity that the teacher originally threw up to the sky; you asked me to bring people, but I have none." Zheng Xian naturally understood Su Ming’s intent; if both were adept at close combat, the team indeed needed some patchwork on its weaknesses.
Su Ming thought for a moment, let’s go check on the situation first; it’s not necessarily imperative to fight, harmony brings wealth after all.
Zheng Xian surely hopes not to start a fight, since the relationship between Holy Shield and Holy Spear isn’t great, once things flare up, it’s troublesome.
"Alright, let’s take a photo together, in case we both die on this mission, at least there’ll be something for relatives and friends to hold as a memory." Su Ming shrugged, perhaps the photo will have some use in the future...
Zheng Xian squinted his eyes more, walked to Su Ming’s side: "Is it really that serious?"
"Who knows, better safe than sorry."
While saying this, Su Ming led Zheng Xian into the alley, where they took a photo with the wall behind them painted with old-fashioned slogans.
Two young men, one tall and one short, in black coats, faces frozen in feigned smiles, with the slogan behind them reading ’Family planning is a fundamental national policy...’

Leo lay quietly on the blue velvet bed, entirely unable to sleep; everything that happened before, everything he saw and heard, shook his perception of the world.
After the meeting, Howard and Nathaniel took him for a meal in the Immortal City and then assigned him a spacious bedroom for a good rest.
As for what they need him to do, the only answer remains the same—step up when necessary.
The location of the bedroom is a castle-like ancient building, the entire room is cylindrical, with a ceiling four to five meters high, adorned with religious paintings of classical beauty.
It’s just that the style is very similar, but this is certainly not a story from the Bible, because there’s no story in the Bible where a few people use something like a plasma cannon to eliminate alien creatures.
Leo was thinking, but after a long time, he realized his mind was empty, having forgotten the question he initially pondered.
Instead, his mind was filled more with the image of Lily.
He sighed, turned over, feeling like a prisoner, in a foreign country, a foreign place, with no escape.
Just as he was tossing and turning, the bedroom door suddenly swung open, and a person enveloped in electric light rushed in like a phantom.
His speed was so fast that until he stood by the bed, the afterimage behind him gradually merged back into his body.
The intruder wore a tight-fitting black metal armor, and the shoulders of the armor were densely covered with rows of diodes and special bulbs, with golden lightning dancing upon them, writhing like a golden snake in the darkness.
He wore a semi-covered helmet showing his chin and the small mustache on his lips. Watching Leo sit up abruptly from the bed, he finally spoke:
"Hello, my child."
Along with the familiar voice, a dove flew in at the same time, landing on Leo’s shoulder.
"Father?" Leo was frozen, his father, whom he thought dead, now appeared alive in front of him, wearing his super armor called Midnight Machine.
"It’s me." Tesla stopped walking, making the light on his armor gradually fade away.
"I thought you..." Leo petted the dove’s neck, arranging the bird’s feathers.
"Yes, I died, but I overloaded secrecy, traversed the abyss, and now I am back, returning here to find you." Tesla approached his son, patting his shoulder, allowing him to feel the reality of his presence.
"Are you here to take me away?"
"No, my child, I’m not. I came to this space to utterly destroy it." Tesla caressed Leo’s face, observing him as though he were a Star Realm Spirit. At this moment, the ancient castle’s piercing alarm sounded, interrupting his actions: "Alright, they’ve found me, they’ll arrive here soon, quickly, follow me."
Leo didn’t even have a chance to put on his shoes and was pulled up from the bed by Tesla. Once the battle armor’s abilities activated, they seemed to float off the ground.
"Where are we going?" Running through the corridor adorned with red carpet, doors like gaping black holes flew past them. Leo asked, puzzled.
Because the direction Tesla was taking him was not towards the castle’s bottom exit; instead, they were continuously ascending the stairs.
Tesla didn’t turn back, only focusing on grabbing Leo and running wildly, as the dove tightly followed behind him: "I want to show you something."
He spoke as he quickened his pace again, soon reaching a very intricate door.
The door was painted with a giant sun, with incomprehensible, petal-like things lifting the sun. Below was a wooden lock, with ominous light flowing over it.
"Dad, this is magic; without a key, we are doomed."
Tesla directly took out a golden key from the belt of his armor, waved it before Leo, then unlocked the door and swiftly kicked it open.
"You must go up the stairs continuously."
"Where do they lead?" Leo asked puzzled, but his steps were already moving.
At this moment, the dove spoke, its voice clear: "A summons above."
Tesla held Leo’s shoulders while the sound of footsteps behind them gradually became clear. He glanced back quickly and said.
"Leo, everyone has their own goals, everyone has their own destiny, your destiny should not be governed by another!"
With that, he pushed Leo, starting to vigorously shove the door, preparing to hold off the pursuers.
"Wait, what are you doing?!" Leo, naturally sensing something was wrong.
"Go quickly, I am doing what I must do!" Tesla forcefully shut the door and turned to face the pursuers.
A great group of guards appeared at the corridor corner, their uniforms adorned with Holy Shield insignia, an eagle spreading its wings. They raised their weapons, shouting in Italian.
"Stop! Leave the staircase immediately!"
But Tesla showed no intention of responding; he spread his arms wide, elevating the armor’s energy level, enveloping the corridor with electrical arcs. His armor itself was a large Tesla coil.
A string of computational formulas passed through his mind; alternating current could also be lethal.
As the electrical current intensified, even his eyes seemed filled with electric light; he pushed his hands forward, dense electric light shot out, like dazzling giant dragons, engulfing all the guards.
After the flash, only charred skeletons remained.
