Chapter 794: Chapter 700: The Dementor Drops Loot_2
"Forget it, pretend I didn’t say anything." Kael realized this point as well, sighed, and stopped thinking about taking advantage.
At this moment, the man on the ground suddenly moved.
Kael quickly retracted his Guardian God and, together with Cedric, pretended nothing happened as they walked forward.
"Where are we going now..." Cedric asked, "According to the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, there are Dementor traces in Surrey and Buckinghamshire."
"No rush..." Kael looked up at the sky, "This level of gray mist can’t be caused by just one Dementor. Let’s keep searching."
The two reached an open area, used the Disillusionment Charm on themselves, then lifted their legs as if riding something.
Then, they just started flying.
Invisible broomsticks, they had the Broomstick Shop add this feature before departing for convenience. Most Aurors do this before chasing Dementors.
The two circled in mid-air, and after half an hour, Cedric suddenly pointed to a secluded street.
"Look over there..."
Kael followed his direction and indeed found a second Dementor.
But unlike earlier, this Dementor only sucked quite a bit out of a Muggle, was satisfied, and ready to leave without giving a "kiss."
"Should we kill it directly?" Cedric asked.
"I’ll go negotiate..."
Kael maneuvered the broomstick towards the Dementor.
To Cedric’s surprise, Kael was talking to the Dementor, and the Dementor seemed to understand!
When did he learn Dementor language... Do you really need all this as a Ministry of Magic employee now?
However, before he thought long, Kael raised his wand.
A cluster of gold-red flames appeared out of thin air, formed a Fire Dragon, and directly incinerated the Dementor to ashes.
"Negotiation failed..." Kael shrugged at Cedric, "It was unwilling to return to the Ministry to continue working... Finite Incantatem!"
Kael stabbed his wand into the ground, extinguishing the remaining flames instantly.
"There’s no other way." Cedric said, and simultaneously stuffed chocolate into the mouth of the attacked Muggle.
After finishing, they were ready to leave, but Kael suddenly noticed something on the ground.
Right under the Dementor, there was a small pile of black stuff, like dust.
Kael was surprised; he didn’t expect anything to be preserved under the Fiendfyre Curse.
Not wanting to waste anything, Kael found a bottle and used his wand to collect all the ’dust.’
"Why do you want these?" Cedric asked.
"Just in case they’re useful," Kael said.
Even Basilisk’s shedding can be brewed into Magic Potion. Perhaps what Dementors leave behind is useful.
Even if it’s not for Magic Potion, there’s still Alchemy... Something preserved under Fiendfyre surely has some use.
Kael lifted the bottle, examining it closely, "Ha, maybe there’s a possibility for reward hunting..."
"You still think about that..." Cedric rubbed his forehead, "This is a Dementor, the reward can’t be too low, but it’ll require a large amount of money. Do you think Fudge would agree?"
"Now, there’s no Malfoy to sponsor the Ministry anymore."
"Just try, maybe it’ll work," Kael said.
The scattered Dementor numbers are too great, relying on Aurors and just the two of them would take a year to clear.
Besides, he’s about to start school; he needs to think of other methods... Whether it’ll work is another question to consider.
With the two Dementors eliminated, the sky’s gray mist thinned considerably, leaving just a faint layer.
This is normal; now throughout the United Kingdom, including the Ministry and Diagon Alley, it’s the same. As long as Dementors are out there, these things will always exist.
Though there’s still some effect, it’s not much. The temperature increased significantly, and sunlight pierced the gray mist, warming the body.
They flew another circuit, confirming no nearby Dementors before heading elsewhere.
The Department and Auror Office each have a booklet recording places where Dementors appeared before, not entirely accurate but useful for reference.
Cedric opened the booklet...
"Coincidentally, someone discovered Dementor traces nearby in Cambridgeshire, not far at all. Shall we go?"
"Of course."
...
To eliminate the Dementors quickly, the two flew outside for two days, sustaining on Stimulant Potion, until finally returning to the Leaky Cauldron on the third evening.
By now, Cedric was panting heavily, having flown for so long, his legs trembled as he sat gasping.
"What were you up to?" Fred and George, alerted, came over and sized him up suspiciously.
"I’m warning you, don’t do anything to betray Cho..."
"Shut up!" Cedric retorted irritably, glancing to the side; seeing Cho wasn’t paying attention here, he sighed in relief.
"Just joking, no need to be so uptight." Fred grinned, sitting next to him. "But seriously, what were you guys up to."
