Chapter 31: Online trade store now open

Aria was still shaking as the priest came charging straight at Levon.

With one hand Levon raised his venomous sword and blocked the strike, holding his ground directly against the NPC.

A massive shockwave spread all around them, sending everyone within the church and its surrounding area crashing off their feet.

"You have some nerve challenging me like that. It really doesn’t matter who exactly you are, but for you to think you are stronger than me is nothing short of pathetic.

If you were truly stronger, then why couldn’t you see into my future?"

Levon was certain it was a rule of thumb in this world. Someone with the appraise skill could never read the stats of someone ten levels above them. Everyone knew that if you couldn’t see a vision about someone, it simply meant you were weaker than them.

Besides, Levon was sure his existence carried a great deal of significance to the future. After all, he hadn’t reincarnated for nothing.

The priest was still stunned by how effortlessly Levon had met his attack head on, and Levon used that brief moment of shock to his advantage. He gave him a small cut with his venomous sword, just enough to get the job done without giving him time to react.

The moment Levon made contact, the priest immediately shrieked as the fear debuff activated.

"Consider this a warning. The next time you cross my path, you won’t be so fortunate," Levon said coldly as he tossed the coins straight at the priest’s face and walked out, carrying Aria in his arms.

It was already obvious she had lost consciousness from the sheer force of the aftershock from the weapon clash. She was bleeding from the impact, though her HP hadn’t been fully depleted. It was more than clear that the trauma of the entire situation was what had caused her to pass out.

The priest could only stare as Levon walked away. Even after the fear debuff wore off, his genuine fear took over completely.

Why had he seen nothing concerning this man’s future? Why was he that strong?

The questions kept flooding his mind but not a single one could be answered. All he could do was watch as they disappeared from sight.

The moment Levon stepped out of the church, a flood of notifications came crashing in.

[Congratulations on awakening your bloodline. You have been awarded 1,000 system stones.]

[The online trade store is now officially open to all players.]

[The guild forum has been created. Accept application letters from others to build your guild, or click the button at the bottom of your screen to automatically generate an application letter based on your level and achievements, which you can still edit if you wish.

You may also create alliances.

Note: An alliance is for two or three people. A guild starts at four members, so if your guild still shows as an alliance, you are still under the minimum player count.

Creating a guild carries significant benefits. Check your resource page for more details.]

Levon skimmed through the information but couldn’t act on any of it right now. First he needed to find an unoccupied house where he could lay Aria down and get a few things handled.

But one specific message caught his attention.

[The Village Wars are now live. Challenge other starter villages across all of God’s Descent for incredible prizes and privileges through a variety of system-selected games and special competitions.

As the strongest player in Starter Village One, only you have the authority to choose to enter a contest, accept a challenge, or issue one.

The village group chat is also now available in the system, allowing you to share ideas with everyone in the village.]

Levon glanced at it briefly as he continued searching for a free room.

There were many starter villages in existence. All of humanity simply couldn’t fit into a single village, which made having many more than reasonable. And humans weren’t the only race in God’s Descent either, meaning in total there were far more than one million starter villages spread across the world.

Back in his past life, Draven had been clever when it came to accepting missions. He had mostly stuck to those issued by humans, rarely taking anything from other races like the elves or other powerful beings.

But Levon had always viewed that as a form of weakness.

Why not challenge the stronger ones? That was the only real way to grow. And since losing a competition, depending on the type, didn’t always mean death, there was truly no reason to hold back.

Levon soon spotted an empty cottage a short distance away and quickly made his way inside.

Like most other cottages in the village, it had little more than a makeshift bed and a few crude appliances. Apart from the bed, the room was mostly bare.

Levon immediately laid Aria on the bed, wiped the blood from her face, and checked her HP along with her other vital signs. Satisfied that she just needed rest, he stepped back and got to work on a few other things.

The first was the 100 percent drop rate seal, which had one hour remaining.

Levon kept turning it over in his mind. Should he sell it or keep it? He already had a hundred percent drop rate active, so he could only wonder if there was any real reason to hold onto it. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

He was still thinking it through when all of a sudden a voice broke through his thoughts, speaking directly into his mind.

"I need shadow crystals... more... shadow... crystals... more... more."

The voice was overwhelming, like a second consciousness had latched itself onto his brain and was speaking from somewhere deep inside it. It had an eerie quality to it, like a tired middle-aged man who was restless and craving soul shades just to survive.

Just as Levon was trying to figure out where the sound was coming from, a hint finally clicked.

Almost immediately his heart leaped as he pulled straight into his storage space.
