Chapter 406: Chapter 193: Winning Glory, Bearing Glory

Not only did a flurry of thoughts race through Chu Lingguang’s mind, but he also saw the speed and power of Xuanyuan Jinkang’s Sword Technique rapidly diminish. The previously cunning moves now seemed riddled with openings before him, as if they could be broken at any moment.

’I don’t just need to win glory; I need the strength and foundation to bear it. Otherwise, too much renown will only bring trouble for my master and me.’

’Xuanyuan Jinkang, you win.’

Chu Lingguang deliberately angled his Spear Technique aside. In that flash of insight, his perception evolved once more, and his Spiritual Sense underwent a metamorphosis. Before him, Xuanyuan Jinkang’s Sword Technique had lost all its advantages.

With that one thrust, Chu Lingguang could have used his Flesh and Blood Divine Abilities to injure Xuanyuan Jinkang’s internal organs, instantly shatter his Sword Technique, and then, with the next two strikes, defeat—or even kill—him.

But Chu Lingguang did not. Instead, he ceded the glory to Xuanyuan Jinkang.

However, his Flesh and Blood Divine Abilities were already primed to strike. Although Chu Lingguang could now easily evade Xuanyuan Jinkang, he could not keep that power contained within his Spear Technique.

In the end, the force from his Flesh and Blood Divine Power shot past Xuanyuan Jinkang and shattered a flowerbed behind him.

CLANG!

Xuanyuan Jinkang knocked Chu Lingguang’s Long Spear away and landed a kick on his chest, sending him flying backward.

His face flushed red as he spat out a mouthful of blood.

Xuanyuan Jinkang had not held back on that last kick. Even with his Dharma Aspect to block some of the force, the blow still left Chu Lingguang severely injured.

Hei Hu and Wang Chao cried out in alarm.

Guo Wei, who had been sitting to the side with a broad smile, instantly froze. His expression turned livid, his fists clenched, and deep within his Dantian, the White Tiger awakened from its slumber.

As a True Martial Realm expert and Chu Lingguang’s master, he hadn’t noticed his disciple’s sudden breakthrough—the strengthening of his Spiritual Sense and the sharpening of his perception. What he *did* see, however, was that Chu Lingguang had thrown the match, deliberately losing to Xuanyuan Jinkang at the critical moment.

Such was the bond between master and disciple.

Guo Wei instantly realized why Chu Lingguang had done it. He had thrown the match so that he, his master, wouldn’t be put in a difficult position with Eunuch Liu.

At that moment, Guo Wei lost his composure. He turned his head to glare at Eunuch Liu, and it was as if the White Tiger in his Dantian was staring down the eunuch as well. He wanted nothing more than to say, ’Alright, you old bastard, let’s you and I have a go!’

Eunuch Liu’s expression was just as grim.

Especially when he saw Xuanyuan Jinkang gloating and lording his victory over Chu Lingguang, he couldn’t help but close his eyes. He turned to Guo Wei and said, "Master Guo, you have a fine disciple. I have overstepped today. I will take my leave!"

As a fellow True Martial Realm expert, Eunuch Liu had naturally seen it as well. If Chu Lingguang’s final thrust had been aimed at Xuanyuan Jinkang, the younger man’s Sword Technique would have shattered instantly.

The Flesh and Blood Divine Power that had escaped the blow was enough to obliterate a flowerbed several meters away; how could Xuanyuan Jinkang possibly have withstood it?

That day, when he had splashed wine on Guo Wei, Guo Wei had deliberately lost by a single move at the final moment.

Now, Chu Lingguang, in his fight with Xuanyuan Jinkang, had also thrown the fight at the last second to spare Guo Wei from a difficult position. Both master and disciple were willing to endure humiliation for a greater cause.

’Whether it was the master or the disciple, I am inferior to them both.’

Eunuch Liu was filled with regret. He never should have sought out Guo Wei and his disciple today. On the surface, he had won, but in reality, he had lost all face.

"Chu Lingguang, now you know how formidable the students of the Southern Domain Trial Ground are!"

Xuanyuan Jinkang, still oblivious to what had truly happened, tossed this parting shot at Chu Lingguang before running over to Eunuch Liu. His words only made Eunuch Liu burn with fury, deepening his sense of shame.

(After clearing my schedule to focus on writing, I can get updates out earlier than before. I’ll do my best to post earlier from now on and not keep you all waiting.)
