Chapter 83: The beginning of the end [Part 2]

After a minute or two, nearly all the goblins had perished under the relentless assault of Dhruv’s attacks.

After finishing the goblins, Dhruv glanced around and noticed that Azarex and Alaric were engrossed in their battle against the Crystallce. After noticing their battle for a bit he found they don’t need his help. Their main fighting strength was the newly created mega-undead. They were truly a sight to reckon with.

After careful consideration, he decided to help Vexar who was locked in combat with the spiders. Vexar and his love for spiders were truly on a different magnitude.

When Dhruv has killed the goblins the group has unanimously decided to abandon the plan of protecting the golem and let him join the battle.

Before the start of the wave, Dhruv had already fused some more Tier 2 Crystallce in the Golem, boosting its strength to an all-time high.

him so he was at an all-time high in terms of strength. With the help of Golem Aoa’s attack, it was just a matter of time.

With the assistance of Golem Aoa’s attacks, victory seemed like just a matter of time.

And that’s exactly what happened, after fighting for just a few more minutes they managed to secure victory without encountering any significant issues.

Following the battle, they resumed their regular duties and began the process of extracting cores.

Noticing the group was engrossed in their duties, Dhruv came to a side and sat on the chair he had just created with the help of [Metal construct].

He had planned to experiment with his magic and truly wanted to cover all areas, not just battle. One thing that he didn’t was that those constructs would just vanish after a few minutes of their creation if he left them untouched.

Dhruv wanted to continue his mutation but he noticed after all this fighting, he still had plenty of juice left in him. He couldn’t even sleep so he just chose to further hone his skills. He was sure this viability wasn’t just because of the stats alone...

’Being a monster sure has its own pros,’ He thought.

With this thought in his mind, Dhruv began his practice. He had learned how to cast the runes for the multiply spell and now just had to practice, So, he could keep both runes and blueprint stable at the same time.

He became so immersed in his practice that he practically forgot about the fact that he needed to absorb some cores for testing. One couldn’t even blame him for this after all he wasn’t accustomed to absorbing cores.

His practice persisted until the trio approached him and requested that he recreate the mud trap once again.

’Azarex sure is genius to think of such a trap,’ Dhruv praises Azarex in his mind. He was very pleased with the efficiency it brought during monster hunting.

Nodding, he snapped out of his trance and started heading towards the same location where he had previously set up the trap. The trio had already cleared all the corpses from the ground, so now it looked almost identical to how it was before the wave. Almost because the blood stane was still there.

"Talking about corpses, where are they" Dhruv asked when he noticed that there weren’t that many corpses left on the island.

’ Surely they hadn’t eaten all that corpses.’ He joked in his mind.

"After keeping the ones we need for eating, we have dumped the rest of them all in the ocean," Alaric replied.

Hearing his reply, Dhruv turned his gaze toward the ocean. He was surprised to find out that there were no corpses floating on the surface.

He almost instantly connects the dot as to why there aren’t any corpses on the surface...

’Fuck, there is another gate inside the ocean. Thank God they are the aquatic type.’ Dhruv thought.

Dhruv comes to this conclusion because he knows it isn’t possible for fish to eat that many corpses this quickly. The possibility of a gate being in the water isn’t impossible either, after all the Crystallce gate is just on the surface. If one could be on the surface then why not in the bottom?

How many monsters there are in the sea this instant,’ Dhruv came to a horrifying realization. The monster within the must be adding up.

After some more thought, he realized something more,

"The monsters within the sea must be pure aquatic animals," he concluded. He arrived at this conclusion because he knows that if they weren’t purely aquatic types, they would have likely already invaded the island. And the resion behind their invasion would be food. After all they would have probably killed and ate all the local creatures of that area and would need to find a new food source quickly. There was an expectation for this theory and that was they could be cannibals.

"We have some time before they accumulate enough essence to mutate themselves in a way that they can breathe outside of the water," Dhruv thought.

Dhruv didn’t want to take any risk so he had to think of all the possible ways they could attack the island...

Noticing that Dhruv is lost in thought, Alaric calls him,

"Master is everything okay?"

Looking at Alric Dhruv replied,

"Looks like we have to prepare ourselves to face another enemy pretty soon"

Without giving them any further details he touched the ground and cast his spell, [Mud Formation]. Mud Formation is the basic spell he had learned after acquiring the mud manipulation skill. To use this spell, he simply had to touch the solid ground and infuse it with his mud mana into it. After infusing the mana the ground would slowly transform from solid to of muddy.

There wasn’t any specification regarding the type of ground required, so Dhruv was confident that this skill could even work on concrete-like surfaces, albeit requiring more mana.

After transforming the ground into a layer of mud, he added a layer of dust on top of it to make it difficult to notice the mud underneath. The monsters were fools but weren’t on the scale that they noticed mud on the ground and walked over it.

After completing their preparations, there was nothing left to do, so Dhruv and the trio began to move toward the middle of the island. After reaching there they had to wait a few minutes before the wave would start. They didn’t waste these precious minutes and began readying themselves.

Azarex commanded the golem to elevate Dhruv, Vexar, and himself to a height of 50 meters into the sky. When three of them reached this elevation Alaric began casting shield. He continued doing that until there was five layers of shield had formed.

They didn’t have to wait that long as just after it the wave began. The battle unfolded as planned, without any hiccups. The goblins got trapped in the mud, and Dhruv killed them by launching a barrage of attacks. Following the goblins’ defeat, Dhruv and the golem redirected their attacks toward the spiders, whom Vexar was fighting.

After defeating the spiders all of them combined their strength and launched attacks on the Crystallce. Everything proceeded smoothly, and in just ten minutes, they had secured victory and began tending to their post-battle duties.

This time, Dhruv could feel that he was hungry enough to take one bite of that cone. He wanted to keep the cone safe so he didn’t have to create another one just for two more bites, but to his disappointment there wasn’t any way he could do that So, he gave the cone to the trio so they could eat and it wouldn’t go to waste.

He began the process and created the whole thing once again just to take one bite. Staring at his hard work, he took a bite and started munching on it. After munching for a while, he swallowed the whole bite. Just as he gulped it down, a notification appeared in front of him...

[You have gained 5 essence points.]

"Finally" he exclaimed happily, forgetting all that work he put.

[Do you want to spend 5 essence points on Mana veins]

"Yes please"

[Mana Veins has reached +5.]

[Please select an advancement.]

This was the exact notification he had been anticipating. In the guide, it was stated that he could select the path he wanted his body part to follow. For instance, if he wanted his mana veins to provide a smoother delivery of a particular elemental mana type, he could choose that option. Of course, he had no intention of selecting such an option.

He opened the menu, and a lengthy list appeared before him, displaying the various options he could choose from.

"This many?" Dhruv exclaimed when he realized that there were nearly 50 different options he could choose from.

Dhruv began to scroll through the options pondering over which one should be the best one he could choose at this moment. This selection would be the foundation for all of his future mutations so, he couldn’t just choose anyone of them after all.
