Chapter 73: Awaken
"’W-why i-is there so much noise, let me sleep for five more minutes,’" a thought appeared in Dhruv’s mind as he found himself submerged in... something.
Despite his reluctance, he opened his eyes...
"’Where am I? Why is there so much darkness around me?’" he thought as he found himself surrounded by darkness.
To help his vision adjust in the darkness, he blinked in quick succession. The moment he blinked twice, the things around him began to light up...
"Huh! What are those?" he whispered as the darkness around him shifted, revealing multiple humanoid shapes and silhouettes running in his direction. Even Among all those figures, one figure stood out, practically glowing in comparison to the others.
His memory began to flood back as he noticed the figure with the brightest core sprinting toward him, brandishing a sharp object in their hand.
A current ran over his body and he regained all his memory,
"So, I was sleeping for more than eight hours. How bad of me to leave my guardian alone." he mused.
A surge of current ran through his body, as he began to recall his memory.
"So, this must be the second or maybe even third day of the wave. Which means I was probably sleeping for more than eight hours," he thought to himself as the gravity of the situation settled in. Concern crept in as he wondered, ’Are the trio safe?’
He pushed aside the troubling thoughts and concentrated on the approaching figure, unsure whether it was a monster or a human. All he could discern was their silhouette and the clear intent to kill him as they sprinted in his direction.
He watched as the monster raised its hand, ready to stab the thing he was him. Dhruv instinctively moved his hand forward to block the attack. His sole intention was to stop the attack and not to kill the monster, at least not just yet.
However, due to his lack of control over his strength, his sharp-clawed hand pierced through the egg and didn’t stop until it tore a hole in the chest of the monster...
"Shit, sorry, man," Dhruv apologized sarcastically. He tried to pull his hand but stopped when he sensed something solid in his hand. He clenched his hand around it, and the moment he grasped the thing. The moment he grasped it he could feel the terror emanating from the monster’s face.
He pulled his face out from the egg to get a better look at the monster whose core he held. However, the moment his head got outside of the egg, a really bad nauseating sensation washed over him.
He quickly found out the reason behind this nausea and thought, ’Why is there so little mana on the island? How many days had I been sleeping for this change to happen?’
He was on the verge of thinking that he must have been asleep for much longer than just a few additional hours beyond the initial eight hours he had thought.
But His suspicion died down when he saw Vexar running toward him. The little demon was still the same, still less than a meter tall, gripping his sword with a fanatical smile on his face. Which really makes him creepy and Dhruv takes a mental note to remind him not to do that again.
"No, the mana on the island hadn’t gone down. Maybe I’m the one who needs more mana now..." he whispers, but before he could be sure about his suspicion, another wave of nausea swept over him.
"What the heck," In the anxious state, his eyes automatically draw toward the core he was gripping.
He could swear that he hadn’t commanded his hand but it moved on its own and began moving toward his face. After reaching a dozen centimeters away from the face it crushed the core into millions of tiny particles.
After seeing the particles floating around he inhaled all of them in one fell swoop like a drug addict who was on a withdrawal.
After inhaling the core he finally felt a wave of peace, he began to feel normal and looked around him with more careful observation.
The first thing he wanted to do was to get out of the egg fully. So, the moment this thought came to his mind the eggshell around him began to transform into particles and got absorbed into him through every single pore of his body...
"That was actually... nice," he murmured.
After standing on his feet, after who knew how long, he felt that he had grown some more. He found this strange as he was sure that he had put all 100% of his strength into improving his muscle density.
’Maybe I didn’t have enough room for all those strengths’ he joked to himself.
Talking about muscle density, he could feel every muscle of his body screaming for strength. Urging him to unleash their strength on something...
Before he could feel the strength of this new power of his, Vexar and Alaric approached him. They stopped one meter away from him and bowed to him by planting both of their feet on the ground.
"Hahah! Why are you still doing this crap," he commented.
He signaled both of them to stand up and began looking for the third member of the crew. He quickly found Azarex who was fighting the hoard alone in a head-on fashion.
"Why are you here instead of helping your brother..." they were about to explain the situation to him before he cut them off and continued, " Go and help him."
They were about to run toward the Azarex before he ordered, "Alaric you come here,"
"Yes, master" Alaric appeared in front of him in mere moments.
He lifted his hand and fired a metal bullet to check how much mana is left in his new core.
"Figures" he murmured.
He could only fire ten more metal bullets with the remaining amount of mana, so he turned around, looking at Alaric he said,
"Make arrangements for as many mana cores as possible in a minute, it’s time for a massacre."
