Chapter 71: Unbeatable, Really?

As the shield continued to crack, hundreds of monsters began pouring through the breaches.

Even with hundreds of monsters streaming through, both the golem and the group of Crystallce maintained an intense standoff, locking eyes in a manner that suggested even a minor mistake from either side could cost them their lives.

Seizing an opportunity, one of the Crystallce members disappeared by blending into the swarm of running monsters. To divert the golem’s attention from this member, the others cast spells, albeit of lower power.

A moment later, it emerged from the back of the golem, prepared to behead him with a swift slash of its sword. However, the moment it struck, its attack was abruptly stopped by something...

Alaric had obtained enough knowledge about how they fight, so he quickly decided to involve himself in the battle. He understood that the longer they lived, the greater the threat they posed to the egg. Thus, he needed to kill them as fast as possible, as these five crystallc posed more threat to the egg than the entire hoard of monsters.

He had been tracking the Crystallce member attempting to hide among the monsters so it could assassinate the golem when it was engaged with the rest of its party. He calculated what was going to happen at the perfect moment and saved the golem with a swift deployment of the shield. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

Blocking the strike with his shield, he turned toward the golem and said, " Azarex you go and kill the monsters and make them undead and protect the egg, while I and Vexar will deal with them."

Upon hearing the proposal, the golem nodded and raised its hand. A few seconds later multiple sharp icicles shot forth from its hand, instantly killing numerous monsters on the spot...

Azarex acted swiftly, summoning all the slain monsters and turning them into undead. This cycle continued until he reached his limit, which was considerably high as he wasn’t using any mega undead creatures.

While all of this was happening, Alaric wasn’t just standing idly either.

The moment he lowered the shield, the Crystallce launched an ice bullet at him. Looking at the incoming attack he swiftly turned the body part the bullet was aimed at ethereal while simultaneously slashing at the monster’s neck with his dagger.

"Takk"

His attack was stopped by the ice armor, so without wasting any second he began preparing his signature move of drowning the opponent in the shadow.

Using the rubbery nature of his body, he created multiple tentacles that ensnared the Crystallce in a tight grip, then promptly transformed the ground into a shadowy pool large enough to fit crystallce.

He started drawing the Crystallce into the shadowy pool but before he could drown him any deeper, he suddenly felt a poking sensation all over the tentacles by which he is gripping the Crystallce.

As he felt a sharp sensation in his body, he instinctively made that part of the tentacles ethereal.

"Shit," he instantly realized his mistake and attempted to solidify them once more to recapture the Crystallce, but it was already too late.

Because the moment Crystallce felt that his imprisonment was gone, it didn’t think even for a moment, and instantly conjured wings and flew into the sky.

Upon reaching the sky, it immediately unleashed a blizzard attack, freezing the area where Alaric had been standing just a moment ago.

However, when it looked around, it discovered that Alaric had already vanished from that spot. Still, it didn’t dare to descend to the ground, aware of the horror that awaited it there.

Without wasting any time, it swiftly flew toward its partner’s location, only to discover that they were also engaged in a battle with a small demon, who happened to have the totally opposite elemental affinity than them.

Few minutes earlier,

"Should I go or wait a bit longer?" Vexar inquired, glancing at Alaric, who was observing the battle through the shield. He remained unaware of the events outside due to his inability to see through the shield and could only rely on the information his brothers provided.

"Yes, go ahead. And remember, they are very, I mean verrrryyy proficient in using ice magic, so be cautious," Alaric advised before swiftly dissolving into shadow, leaving Vexar standing there.

With a sinister smile, Vexar advanced and reached the shield. Understanding that there was no other option, he ignited his sword with fire and created an opening for himself by cutting a hole in the shield.

The moment he emerged, he was hit by the chill, a literal cold chill. Turing his gaze around, the only thing he could see was corpses and ice. Scanning the area, he quickly realized that Alaric was already locked in combat.

It didn’t take long before he found his opponent as well and was already running in their direction like a maniac.

Noticing a small demon approaching their direction, a crystallce unleashed an ice breath to freeze him in his tracks. The breath traveled for a bit before freezing Vexar in his place.

As they readied an ice spear to finish him off before he could break free from the ice, their calculations took an unexpected turn. The moment the ice breath had frozen Vexar, flames began to light around him after a second it had enveloped his entire body and eradicated any trace of ice.

A layer of smoke filled the space between the two opponents. Despite their obscured vision caused by the smoke, the Crystallce launched a barrage of ice bullets at Vexar.

The ice bullets cleared the smoke, but the demon was nowhere to be found. Realizing that something was amiss, they hurriedly cast a shield around themselves, but they were a few seconds too late.

Leaping from above, Vexar aimed for the head of his opponent, but his attack was interrupted, and managed to land a slash on the hand. It didn’t cleanly cut the hand either, founding the perfect opportunity to separate him from his weapon the crystallce began to encase it with a layer of ice.

But they had made a mistake once again, blazing inferno ignited once again as Vexar chopped off the hand of the Crystallce.

Blue liquid flowed from the severed hand, but despite losing a hand, the monster showed no signs of distress. It promptly covered the wound with ice to prevent any further blood loss and looked into Vexar’s eyes with a sharp cold gaze.

In a hurry to finish his opponent quickly, Veaxr miscalculated his advance this time and now was surrounded by them from all four directions. Before he could react, they lifted their hand with a creepy smile.

From all directions, a continuous barrage of ice bullets and spears was fired at him.

Once the barrage stopped, they waited patiently for the smoke to dissipate, confident that their opponent had been killed.
