Chapter 68: A mysterious group

As the monster began to pile up on the spike it became useless, so the goblin began to climb up in the hope of finding any breach in defense on top of the shield.

But the only thing they found on top of it was disappointment. Seeing that there wasn’t any hole either, they began to punch and smack their clubs on them. But their mere punches hadn’t enough strength to damage the ice wall.

Despite being mindless, spiders unintentionally began to help them by spraying the veon all over the body. As the posion began to eat through the shield making it weaker.

After frantically attacking the shield for a while, it finally began to show some weakness. After a few more attacks, small cracks began to appear here and there...

"Crackkk"

It wouldn’t take long before that small crack would become a huge problem, so the golem hurriedly began at work and started healing the cracks as soon as possible.

With the help of all of the crystallce they would keep the shield for a few more minutes... Yes! Only a few more minutes, that goes to show how many monsters are attacking it once.

They were hoping that the shield would last a few minutes if this attack would continue. But one thing they had forgotten to keep in account was that they weren’t the only ones with the power of using ice magic.

A separate group of crystallce began to get out from the rest of the hoard. The moment they got in the front Azarex knew something was very different about them.

The first and possibly the most visible difference was that there wasn’t any madness in their eyes their eyes were the same as the trio, the eyes that know only one thing, and the thing was... following command.

Another thing was that they were in a group, them being in a group of five wasn’t anything unique, as monsters were always found working in a group.

Yet there was something unique about this group. The first being that there were only five members in them, too few for any normal monster group. And from the style of their walk, one could easily discern the fact they were totally synchronized with each other, almost too synchronized.

After walking for a second the group got in front of the hoard. While they were coming toward the shield two of them were constantly keeping a shield around them, preventing any monster from reaching them.

When the group reached the shield they first removed the corpses of goblins and spiders from the spikes. After removing the corpses, one of them took a few more steps before stopping when it reached one hand distance from the shield.

The one who had reached the shield lifted one of her hands and touched one ice spike. After touching it she closed her eyes and chanted something...

The moment she ended her chanting, a white fog began to seep out from the spike and began collecting in her hand. The moment she felt it was enough, she opened her eyes and began moving back to her group.

After reaching the group she shared the fog with the other two members of the group and closed her eyes once again. Both of them touched the fog and closed their eyes as well.

A few seconds later they opened their eyes and began moving toward the shield simultaneously. After reaching it they began chanting once again.

The moment they had started their chant, the mana that was holding the shield began to dissipate. First, the spikes were gone then the corrosion had reached the first layer of the shield.

This corrosion hadn’t gone unnoticed and the golem had started casting his own ice magic. The duel between the golem and the mysterious group had started.

Not even a few seconds had passed and the group had managed to tip the scale in their favor. The golem would have won if it didn’t have to watch over the cracks that were generated by the melee attacks.

It knew or more like Azarex knew that the shield wouldn’t last any longer so he lit it and focused all its attention on the offensive.

Just a few seconds later a huge hole had formed due to the constant use of magic by the groups. The moment the hole was formed the golem cast spikes all over the ground to slow their advances as much as possible. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

Having their task full filled the group stopped damaging the shield and looked toward the golem. After taking a good look, they began advancing in his direction.

Crazy or not they were also here to sieze the egg.

The Azarex noticed this behavior and commanded the rest of the undead to keep the group in check so he could watch over the shield for as much longer as possible

As the group advanced their first obstacle was the spikes cast all over the ground by the golem. Before they could even do anything to destroy it.

A few monsters who had managed to come under the shield in that small time frame began running on it. The foolish monsters advanced and met their doom when they were implied by the spikes.

Azarex could swear he had seen a slight sign of a smile on their face when they noticed the monster’s actions. Even with the layers of corpses on the ground, there were still some spikes left, so one of them cast the spell...

"Ice slash"

The ice slash advanced, cutting the spikes with ease, and almost reached the golem before it met an ice shield cast by the undead crystallce.

The group advanced unhinged like they didn’t care that there were hundreds of undead waiting for them on the other side of the spike.

To face the group head-on, a small demon comes...

"Vexar, you come back this instant or I will drown you in the shadow for a week."

The little demon heard someone shouting so he quickly retreated his step back...

"Oppss! You better be alive to face me..." he shouted before retreating into the safety of the shadowy shield.
