Chapter 64: Second day part 2

Before the mist even had a chance to settle, Vexar emerged from beneath the giant golem’s fist and immediately sprinted toward one of its legs.

Giant seemingly confused looked at his fist, double-checking as he was convinced he had struck something solid. Little did he know, the object he had hit wasn’t Vexar but a shield conjured by one of his brothers.

With a burst of strength, Vexar lunged forward, sliding beneath the golem’s massive arm. Shouting "ignition slash" he sliced one of the golem’s legs. Due to the strength of the fire the slice cut through the ice, causing the golem to waver.

Seizing the opportunity, Vexar channeled the last bit of his fire mana into his sword. And with a mighty roar, he jumped and landed near the heart of the giant where the blue crystal was shimmering. He thrust the blade into the heart of the ice golem, allowing the flames to surge through the cracks.

The ice golem trembled as its blue crystal began to melt as the flames consumed it from within.

"Roaaarrrr.."

"Thuuud"

With a deafening roar, a deafening thud followed as it collapsed and landed on cold ground...

Vexar thumping in the corpse of the monster smiled and looked at Alaric who was fighting goblins and gave him a thumbs up.

Vexar, standing amidst the remains of the golem, grinned and glanced over at Alaric, who was fighting goblins and gave him a thumbs up.

"This idiot how many times do I need to save him in a single day..." Alaric mumbled under his breath.

This was already the seventh time he had to cast his shield to save that little demon, and for that, he had to constantly keep an eye on him as well.

"How long are you planning to leave this idiot in my care, my lord.." he said as he looked at the Dhruv eggs

Thank god, his second brother was pretty responsible and didn’t need his help.

He once again checks on Vexar—despite he had just won the battle— before continuing his own battle...

His opponent for this battle was goblins. Goblins who were pretty vile before had now almost become cunning as well.

He looked at a group of them who had brandished their sharp claws and gnashed their teeth, driven by a thirst for blood. At first, they could only use their claws, teeth, and in most rare cases wooden clubs to attack. But now at second Teir some of them began wielding the power of earth magic.

After battling with them for the past two waves Alaric knew they didn’t know that much about earth magic. At most with the help of earth magic, they could conjure stone bullets, make simple shields, or cover some of their body parts in stone armor.

None of these tricks worked against Alaric as he could just phase through their attack by becoming ethereal. Their shield couldn’t work as he could just travel through shadow and their stone armor wasn’t strong enough to withstand his full blow attack. Blocking the stone bullet with the shield magic he quickly dove from the shadow of one of the corpses and got out from the one that had cast the magic.

So he was massacring goblins like they were his plaything.

A goblin covered in some type of jute cloth and wielding a wooden staff cast a stone bullet. The stone managed to hit Alaric as he was in the middle of thinking something.

It didn’t even take him more than five seconds before the goblin mage was already dead. Not wanting to be touched by the lowly magic of these pests again he focused on the battle.

As the battle raged on, Alaric remained calm and composed, countering the goblins’ attacks with calculated strikes of his own. He didn’t get excited nor did he get panicked by the numbers of the monsters, a totally different reaction from just a moment ago.

While fighting he even began to experiment with a new type of shadow magic he had tried to learn, it was to harden his shadow and make it like tentacles and pull monsters into his shadow domain, where they would be at his mercy.

Due to the addition of his new organ [Umbrastone core] his shadow magic had improved significantly. After numerous tries, he felt that this was his chance...

He focused deep in the lower half of his body and began commanding it to travel toward the near monster. Being the easiest part of the whole skill, his lower part became a shadow and began moving toward a goblin who was eating another one while being the middle of the fight.

After traveling for a bit the shadow reached where the goblin was eating and got mixed with his shadow.

Alaric cast multiple shields around him so no one could disturb him and began focusing on that shadow when he was satisfied that he had enough focus. He commanded the shadow to condense.

This is exactly what the shadow did, it began to condense itself, and the more it condense its blackness began to grow more and more. After a while, the blackness that was increasing suddenly came to an abrupt halt.

After stopping, multiple small black tentacles the size of a human finger began to grow from the goblin’s shadow. When the number of the small tentacles reached in hundreds it began to fuse making a hand.

The moment the hand was formed it grabbed the leg of the goblin in a swift motion and began him to drown in his own shadow...

"Arghh!.."

Feeling a slight pull the goblin came back to his senses and attacked that shadowy hand. The moment his attack landed on the hand, it dissipated like it had never existed to begin with.

"Tsk.. tsk"

With disappointment, Alaric himself dived into the shadow, and the next moment that same goblin began to drown in the shadow once again, but this time no matter how much he tried he couldn’t free himself from the grasp of the real shadow.
