Chapter 63: The second day

A little demon was running while welding a sword in the middle of the ranks of the monsters who were made out of ice.

The demon with his fire magic and an incredible display of swordmanship was slicing the monster with so much ease that it almost looked like it was too easy.

But that was just how it looked to outsiders, but in the true sense, the demon’s speed was decreasing with each monster killed.

Whereas at the start of the battle, it only took him one or two slices to kill one of the monsters, now that same monster took multiple hits before dying.

And his tiredness wasn’t without any reason either. He had been constantly fighting the monster of the last two waves which the rank of monsters was that of Tier 2, and he was fighting them without any proper rest in between.

And all that fighting had begun to show a burden on his body...

If he had just cared about going on the offensive then he could have done better, but no. He is fighting while simultaneously protecting his master’s egg.

His master had gone to evolve almost sixteen hours and hadn’t woken up yet. And for some reason, all the monsters were attracted to the egg like they were ants and his master’s egg was sugar. for this egg, they had almost gone mad.

’Even in his evolution, the master was helping us...’ Vexar smiled when this thought came to his mind.

The egg was causing an unknown madness in them which was helping them immensely as after getting to tier 2 the monsters had begun to show some sort of intelligence, and their master egg was nullifying that intelligence pretty effectively.

The first wave of 2nd tier monsters wasn’t that hard to deal with and they had won it with ease. Yet it had almost taken one hour for that and after adding the time for core salvaging and eating it was almost time for the second wave.

So that was precisely what they did and fought the second wave head-on, despite being tier two themselves they were pretty strong and with the elements that countered their opponents perfectly, they won that as well.

But due to being tired, it almost took them two hours to finish all the monsters from the second wave. After fighting the wave, before they could even salvage the core properly the current or the third wave had started.

So they had no other option and had to fight the monsters head-on, even with odds stacked against them they still hadn’t given up.

It had already gotten past 2 and a half hours in the third wave and there were still some monsters left to conquer.

The little demon quickly drew a crimson glass bottle from his pockets and drank it in one gulp, the moment he drank the bottle all his minor injuries began to heal...

"Tsk! This was the last bottle.." With a regretful expression, he continued what he was best at doing...

In between the field where icy limbs were everywhere, the constant clash between ice and fire had begun to create a veil of mist, reducing his vision and adding another problem to his already tired body.

[Fire manipulation had reached level 5]

[Do you want to upgrade...]

Before the notification could even finish he nodded and upgraded his skill...

[Fire manipulation had evolved into ...

He couldn’t even able to read the name of the skill as a monster attacked him from behind, injuring him.

With a swift movement, Vexar drew his blade, flames ignited along its edge as he looked directly into the soul of the monster...

Not afraid by his look the monster attacked with another ice spear, but with a graceful parry, Vexar’s sword met the attack, shattering the spear into shards of ice.

He sidestepped and swung his sword in a blazing arc, sending waves of fire that engulfed the monster along with his companion who was just behind him.

One after another, the ice monsters fell, succumbing to the heat of Vexar’s flames.

As the fight continued, Vexar’s movements began to get slower his breaths came in ragged gasps, and beads of sweat mixed with melting snow on his brow.

The sheer number of foes began to take its toll.

A barrage of ice magic struck him from different angles...

Instead of taking advantage of his poor state, suddenly all the nearby monsters began to fuse together, and the speed they were merging wasn’t to scoff at either.

Vexar knew something was wrong and tried to stand up so he could stop whatever it was. But his movement halted when he noticed a spear was stuck in his leg.

He mercilessly pulled out the spear, causing a splash of blood to roll on the ground. The moment he pulled the spear fire began to spread out on the injury as it began to heal, yet it didn’t heal fast enough.

The fusion had been successful and a towering giant emerged on the battlefield.

The ice golem, like a boss monster looked at him like he was a puny ant in front of a giant.

Its giant was made entirely out of ice and snow, its eyes glinting with a cold malevolence, and most noticeable a massive blue core was located in the middle of his chest.

Vexar didn’t chickened out either, with fire burning in them he locked his eyes with the eyes of the giant.

The monster attacked first, making a fist he slammed it toward the body of the little demon. Taking full advantage of his small body, Vexar dodges and attacks with his own skill...

"Ignition slash"

He shouted as a slash made out of fire came out of his sword and attacked the icy body of the monster.

The fight continued, as Vexar parried, dodged, and countered the icy spells, each swing of his sword accompanied by bursts of fire magic.

But the ice golem wasn’t a pushover either, its attacks unyielding as it brought its massive icy fists down upon him.

Vexar tried to doges the attack by sidestapping but due to being water on the field he slipped and the massive fist got directly connected with his body.

Vexar stumbled back, gasping for breath.

Somehow golem understood that this was the perfect opportunity. It lifted up his fist and condensed it in ice. And began to slam his massive fist —which was now twice its size—toward Vexar.

Looking at the fist slamming toward him Vexar lifted his sword to counterattack the attack, but he knew his sword wasn’t going to withstand this massive attack, so he even enchanted it with the fire magic.

Golem didn’t even let him finish his enchanting and slammed his massive fist toward Vexar...

With a loud sound, the fist slammed...

"Thuddd"
