Chapter 292: That’s It For Mutation
[Flexible Mana Vein: Makes mana veins more adaptable to different types of magic. A reliable option for monsters who want to focus on multiple magic at the same time.]
’This is also a pretty good option...’ Dhruv thought, scratching his chin. He had been using multiple types of elements lately, and turning raw mana into elemental mana wasn’t easy.
In fights, those precious moments needed to convert mana could very well be used in other areas. Even the simplest of things could affect the life and death situation.
Keeping the option in mind Dhruv looked at the third option.
[Mana Burst Nodes Vein: Adds specialized nodes that store excess mana for emergency use. You can release a burst of mana for a temporary power boost in critical moments. The number of nodes increases with mutation.]
’Now this is something interesting,’ Dhruv thought, looking at one of the fancy options he had this time.
If he understood everything right then this Mana Burst Nodes would give him a small advantage over opponents at the same tier, allowing him to store a few spells’ worth of extra mana in these nodes.
The temporary boost in power can be used against higher-tier opponents for a burst attack as well.
’Ahhh! I really want to take this option,’ Seriously considering this option, Dhruv moved on to the fourth and final option for the mana vein.
[Fortified Mana Vein: Strengthens the structure of mana veins to handle more power. With this vein, you can safely channel high-power spells without risk of damage.]
Dhruv had picked all the other for its advantage but the reason he picked this option wasn’t because of its usefulness; no, he picked this option because of its strange description.
’What does it mean by I can safely channel high-power spells without risk?’ Dhruv couldn’t help but get confused by these terms. During all his casting, he had never felt that using a spell could be dangerous.
Knowing the spell couldn’t put that description without any proper reason Dhruv pressed his memory... trying to find any clues.
Feeling that it was really difficult to keep track of everything when so much was going on, Dhruv regretted not taking the memory mind at the moment.
Calming himself down he put some energy into his mind... after a while he dinnaly able to remember something useful.
’Wasn’t it during the attack on the city with metal boulders... when I felt my mind throbbing in pain? Is it talking about that...’ Dhruv thought, remembering that it was the first time he had felt pain while using a spell.
’But wasn’t that because I had used all my mana...’ he thought.
Even after thinking for a while, when he couldn’t figure out what this description suggested, he decided not to dwell on the matter without much evidence.
Letting out a sigh, he selected the option he thought best suited him at the moment and moved forward.
Next on the list to mutate was [Sensitive Sorcerer’s Eyes].
[Do you want to invest...]
[...]
[Sensitive Sorcerer’s Eyes have reached +10]
[Please select an advancement...]
Once again a list of options appeared in front of him. Eager to scroll through the plethora of options Dhruv looked at the advancement.
’Huh! The number didn’t seemed that great...’ Dhruv thought as he was surpried to find that the number of advancement weren’t many options.
Don’t take it the wrong way; there were still tens of options available. It was just that they seemed much fewer than the others. With a hint of curiosity, he began checking the descriptions of the mutations.
As the seconds passed, he noticed a pattern. There weren’t any fancy advancements this time. Almost all the options were just upgraded versions of his Sensitive Sorcerer’s Eyes with some tweaks.
As minutes passed, he sorted out three options that seemed the best.
[Spectrum Sensitive Sorcerer’s Eyes], [Perceptive Sensitive Sorcerer’s Eyes], and [Farsight Sorcerer’s Eyes] were the ones Dhruv had chosen this time.
[Spectrum Sensitive Sorcerer’s Eyes: Expands the range of visible mana to include more detailed spectrums. Identifies specific types of magic and the intensity of the elemental mana easily.]
As always, the first was the most basic of the three. If Dhruv couldn’t find anything better, this would be the one. But that wasn’t the case; there were two other options as well.
[Farsight Sorcerer’s Eyes: Extends the range of mana sense to see far-off places. Observes distant locations and events as if they were nearby, useful for reconnaissance and long-range spell casting.]
’This is good as well... i mean who doesn’t want to see far ahead? The more i can i see the better i will be prepared. And on top of that this would be even more useful with my monster form,’ Dhruv thought, considering this option as well.
With a sigh, he clicked on the last option.
[Perceptive Sensitive Sorcerer’s Eyes: Easily visualizes the flow of mana through objects and beings. Allows the user to see how mana moves within magical constructs, spells, or living beings, aiding in understanding and manipulating them.]
’Now this is some real stuff. On one hand, it just sounds like an enhanced version of the current mutation... but I can feel it is far from that,’ Dhruv thought with a smile. He really wanted this option.
Previously, Dhruv could only accurately feel the mana of living beings. But after this upgrade, he would even be able to see through objects.
Making his decision, Dhruv moved to his next organ: his brain.
As he scrolled through the options, he noticed that the options for brain mutation followed the same route as the eyes, so he didn’t have to think about this option for too long.
After scrolling through the options, he picked what appeared to be the best.
[Parallel Thinking Brain: Enables the brain to run multiple independent lines of thought concurrently. The number of independent thoughts would depend on the level of evolution.]
Nodding his head, Dhruv confirmed all three of his choices.
[Do you want to evolve Better Mana Veins into Enhanced Mana Veins, Sensitive Sorcerer’s Eyes into Perceptive Sensitive Sorcerer’s Eyes, and Multipurpose Brain into Parallel Thinking Brain?]
[Yes/No]
Dhruv nodded as the process of his mutations began.
