Chapter 230: Mutating His Monkey Brain
After half an hour of extensive research, Dhruv was finally able to select advancements for almost all the organs. The only thing left to choose is the Brain.
[Brain has reached +5.]
[Please select an advancement for the organ.]
"What should I go for with this organ..." Thinking this, Dhruv began to scroll through the options available for his brain.
Once again, he met with basic and then elemental specialist-type advancements, which he skipped completely. He really wished that he could give some feedback to the creator of the system and let them know to add a search function.
After a minute of extensive scrolling, he finally began to find something that piqued his interest.
[Memory Enhanced Brain: with this advancement, you would make your brain capable of storing and recalling vast amounts of information with great accuracy. Information Processing speed is also significantly increased.]
Looking at this option, Dhruv couldn’t help but remember times when he forgot to keep track of the most important matters. Like how he forgot to get essence all this time and, most recently, he forgot to bring Azarex during Grec’s creation.
Sigh!
Taking a deep breath, Dhruv sighed, "I could really count on this one."
He would have taken this advancement without a second thought if there weren’t options with much greater potential than this... Like the very next option.
[Multipurpose Brain: The brain becomes adept at handling multiple complex tasks simultaneously, leading to heightened efficiency in various activities.]
’Now this is something that will be far more useful than just having a brain with better memory.’ Dhruv thought comparing both options. In just a few seconds, he could think of multiple instances where this could prove to be very useful.
The multipurpose side will truly shine during a fight, where Dhruv can focus on two spells simultaneously. One more thing is that with the power to handle complex work, he could further upgrade his speed of casting spells as well.
’With this mutation, I think I can cast a spell at least 1.5x the speed,’ Dhruv comes to a conclusion.
Even after these considerations, there are many mutations that could be pretty exciting to choose from. But knowing that he couldn’t keep himself from making a stupid decision, he quickly selected the Multipurpose Brain as an advancement for his brain.
[Do you want to evolve Brain into Multipurpose Brain.]
[Yes/No]
The moment Dhruv tapped on the "yes" button, the entire head began to jiggle with something strange. After the juggling, he began to feel a headache all over his brain. This headache continued for a minute before subsiding into nothingness.
Knowing what it meant, Dhruv whispered, "Phew! I guess this is finished."
To see his mutation section in its full glory, Dhruv opened his status once again. Skipping everything, he stopped at the Mutation section,
...
Mutation: Sensitive Sorcerer’s eyes +5, Better Mana veins +7, Lesser Obsidian claws +5, Sturdy Hand +5, Muscular Legs +5, Multipurpose Brain +5, Hardened Bones +5, Healing Heart +5
...
"Well, this should be more than enough for today. After getting some more essence, I will upgrade all of them to tier 2 as well." Dhruv whispered, determined to upgrade them as soon as possible.
Before entering the portal, Dhruv connected with Azarex and asked, [Where are you Azarex, how much more time will you need.]
[I’m just coming master. I had stopped to get a few more undead as well.] Azarex quickly replies.
[Okay, come as fast as possible; I’m in front of the portal.] Replying to this, Dhruv cut the connection.
While Dhruv was in the middle of his thought, planning how to properly complete the dungeon, Azarex reached him. Looking at his master, who was lost in thought, he muttered, "Master, shall we go?"
Looking at Azarex with an excited expression, Dhruv muttered, "Ughh! We can go, but there might be a problem on the other side of this portal,"
"What?"
"See, Although we have killed the tier Ⅳ monster, we, in turn, have created quite a mess. If there had been other monsters around the area, which I’m sure there would be, then they must have come there smelling the scent of blood or hearing the sound..." Dhruv saw, Azarex nodding to his words.
After some silence, he continued with a smile on his face, "So, I don’t think it’s safe to enter the portal... Unless."
"Unless what, Master?" Azarex asked with an expression filled with confusion.
"So, my plan is to enter the portal while being invisible? If there were to be any monster, then we can ambush them easily, and if there won’t be anything like that, then we can bring your undead and continue our exploration," Dhruv laid out his plan.
"That is quite an impressive plan, Master. You truly are filled with wisdom," Azarex nodded, totally agreeing with the plan.
"Are you done?" he asked to know if Azarex had commanded the undead to wait here.
"A second, Master... Done," Azarex gave a thumbs up With his skelly fingers.
’Let’s see how efficient my mind has become,’ thinking this, Dhruv carefully brought the Invisible and Multiply spell’s blueprint. Putting both of them side by side, he began to fill them with mana... simultaneously.
After ten seconds of hard work, a smile appeared on his face.
Seeing that he had managed to achieve success on his first try Dhruv was about to dance. Seeing that the Undead lord was still beside him he controlled his urges and began to work on bringing the blueprint to reality.
Based on their level, spells took some time to manifest into reality. Just like in this case, it took Dhruv two seconds to make himself and Azarex invisible.
One had to keep in mind that these two seconds are a very vulnerable period, and anyone with enough mana sensitivity could mess the spell up. And if they managed to get their spell destroyed, they wouldn’t get any mana back either.
"Let’s go..."
Whispering these words, both of them touched the portal simultaneously.
